Tre Morgan supplied the offense as he hit a two run homer in the first inning and then delivered an RBI single in the seventh inning. Game two of the series is tonight at 8 PM.

The Cajuns doubled up ULM eight to four as Julian Brock had four hits and Jackson Nezuh allowed three earned runs in seven innings to get the win.

Louisiana Tech had a season high 21 hits and hit five home runs and the Bulldogs blasted UAB 16 to 3 to improve to 12 and 10 in Conference USA.

LSU women’s hoops has added another all-American to its roster as forward Aneesah Morrow has announced her decision to transfer to LSU after putting up big numbers at DePaul. The Chicago native averaged 25 points and 12 rebounds a game last season. She will join up with Angel Reese, who also averaged a double-double in scoring and rebounding last night. Morrow was rated as the second best player in the transfer portal and LSU also signed the top player in the transfer portal Hailey Van Lith from Louisville.

Back to baseball…Nicholls knocked off Southeastern Louisiana 13 to seven. Leadoff hitter Parker Coddou had four hits, Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi over Northwestern State eleven to eight, McNeese defeated Lamar six to four, UNO outscored Houston Christian nine to seven and Grambling defeated Texas Southern ten to eight to strengthen its lead on first place in the SWAC West Division.

LSU women’s basketball is getting another big-time player out of the transfer portal as All-American forward Aneesah Morrow announces she’s heading to Baton Rouge. Morrow averaged 26 points and 12 rebounds per game last season at DePaul.

The UL-Lafayette baseball team will begin a three game series against ULM tonight in Monroe. The 29-17 Cajuns have shown flashes of potential this year including a midweek win over top-ranked LSU but have struggled with inconsistency. Head Coach Matt Deggs…

Alabama needs a new head baseball coach as Brad Bohannon was fired yesterday amid a gambling probe. Bohannon scratched his starting pitcher an hour prior to the start of last Friday’s LSU game. There are reports Bohannon communicated with a person who put a large bet down on the game, which saw very little action across the country. The Tide played with an interim coach last night and defeated fifth ranked Vanderbilt 11 to 2.

The 24th ranked Ragin Cajuns softball team won its fourth straight Sun Belt Championship as they defeated ULM five to one last night. U-L Lafayette is 20-2 in league play and they’ve won 19 Sun Belt Championships in program history.

The Ragin Cajuns baseball team is tied for sixth place in the Sun Belt as they get ready to host ULM, who is in next to last place. U-L Coach Matt Deggs team is 11-10 in conference play….

Last night Alabama trounced Vanderbilt 11 to 2. Earlier in the day, Crimson Tide Coach Brad Bohannon was fired as there is reportedly video that links Bohannon with suspicious bets made before last Friday’s LSU-Bama game. Three states have temporarily banned bettors from placing bets on Alabama baseball games.

Alabama Baseball Coach Brad Bohannon was fired Thursday morning following reports of suspicious betting activity before last Friday’s game against LSU that suspended sports betting on Alabama baseball in Ohio, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The University released a statement saying Bohannon violated University standards duties and responsibilities, but Tiger Rag Editor Todd Horne said promise of further investigation makes him believe there’s a connection to the gambling.

Bohannon named a new starting pitcher for Friday’s game less than an hour before first pitch. US integrity notified Ohio betting officials of two suspicious bets including one worth over six figures for Alabama to lose which caused the closures, but Horne says LSU was a heavy favorite anyway…

LSU will continue the final month of the season with the first game of a three-game SEC series in Auburn tomorrow night. With three conference series left in the regular season, the Tigers will hope to close out strong and secure the top seeds in the NCAA and SEC tournaments. LSU is currently half a game behind Vanderbilt for the top spot in the SEC due to the cancellation of game 3 of the South Carolina series in early April. The Tigers have been the consensus number one ranked team in the country all season and are favorites to win the College World Series, but former LSU Baseball star and SEC Network analyst Todd Walker says it’s baseball, and the best team doesn’t always win the national championship…

Alabama has announced its fired baseball coach Brad Bohannon. According to athletics director Greg Byrne says Bohannon violated the standards, duties, and responsibilities expected of university employees. No other details were given, but there was suspicious wagering activity that took place Friday before the LSU-Bama game. Ohio sportsbooks are not allowing bets on Alabama games. Prior to the game in question, Alabama changed starting pitchers an hour before the first pitch.

In college baseball last night, ULM scored seven runs in the first inning and went on to run rule Alcorn State 17 to 4. Matt Abshire hit a grand slam. The Warhawks host the Cajuns this weekend.

The 24th ranked U-L Lafayette softball team topped Louisiana Tech eight to one. The Cajuns are now 40-13 and they’ve reached the 40-win mark for the 24th consecutive completed season. U-L Lafayette begins its last Sun Belt Conference Series tonight against ULM.

For the first time since 2001, the Grambling softball team has won 30 games in a year as they defeated Alcorn State six to one last night.

Reese says she appreciates the love she’s receiving from the fans since winning a national title, but it’s so intense she needs security to attend class or go to the grocery store.

Todd Garvin is the 14th head football coach in West Monroe history. The former long-time assistant of the Rebels takes the job at West Monroe after leading the Ouachita Parish football program the last two seasons. Garvin is a West Monroe native and a former Ouachita Lions quarterback. He played baseball at ULM.

There are concerns about the Tigers pitching outside of Paul Skenes, but LSU’s pitching staff looked good last night, holding Southeastern Louisiana to two hits in a ten to nothing shutout of the Lions. It’s the eighth shutout of the season for the Bayou Bengals, which leads the nation. But relief pitcher Garrett Edwards from Pitkin is done for the season as he needs reconstructive elbow surgery. LSU is at Auburn this weekend.

Northwestern State completed a two-game regular season sweep of Louisiana Tech by beating the Bulldogs ten to seven in eleven innings last night. The Demons also defeated Tech in extra innings on April fourth.

Todd Garvin was introduced as the new head football coach at West Monroe today. Garvin was an assistant coach at West Monroe for 16 years. The last two seasons he was the head coach at Ouachita Parish and the Lions beat the Rebels in 2021. Garvin is a 2001 graduate at Ouachita Parish and he played baseball at ULM.

A lot of college football players are jumping into the transfer portal when they don’t get immediate playing time, but backup LSU Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier remains a Tiger after deciding not to get into the transfer portal in the spring. Polian, who followed Coach Brian Kelly to LSU from Notre Dame, was the special teams coordinator last season but was moved to an off-field role 3 months ago. LSU’s kickoff and punt return units ranked near the bottom of the SEC in 2022.

For the 12th time this season, the top ranked LSU baseball team run-ruled an opponent last night as the Tigers shutout Southeastern Louisiana ten to nothing. It was also the eighth time LSU has blanked a team, which leads the nation. LSU right-hander Gavin Guidry made his first career start and worked the first 2.1 innings and struck out four to improve to 3-and-0 on the season. Second baseman Gavin Dugas snapped out of his slump with a three-hit performance, including a two-run homer.

More bad injury news for LSU, the Advocate reports relief pitcher Garrett Edwards will miss the rest of the season as he needs surgery on his elbow.

For the second time this season, Northwestern State defeated Louisiana Tech in extra innings last night. The Demons downed the Bulldogs ten to seven in eleven innings to complete their first season sweep of Tech since 2019. Daunte Stuart drove in the winning runs on a bases-loaded double.

Calvary Baptist star John Simon the Fourth has committed to Louisiana Tech. The three star receiver had seven touchdown catches in eight games last season. His Dad John Simon the third was a standout running back and receiver at Tech from 1998 to 2001.

The top ranked LSU Baseball team picked up its first mid-week win in 3 weeks after a 10-0 seven-inning outing against Southeastern Tuesday in Hammond. Freshman Gavin Guidry got his first college start on the mound and he didn’t allow a hit in 2.1 innings pitched and had 4 strikeouts. The Tigers are now 36-8 on the year and travel to Auburn Friday.

Elsewhere around the state in college baseball Tuesday, Northwestern State gets the win over Louisiana Tech by a score of 10-7 in 11 innings. They also prevailed over The Bulldogs on April 4th, and its the first time the Demons completed the season sweep over Tech since 2019.

Tulane fell to Southern Miss 10-5, and UNO beat Jackson State 6-3.

LSU Women’s Basketball Coach Kim Mulkey continued her title tour on Tuesday ringing the closing bell on the New York Stock Exchange. She did it while flashing an L to the cheering crowd.

LSU football fans no longer have to worry about quarterback Garrett Nussmeier transferring. The window to enter the transfer portal for the spring closed on Sunday and Nussmeier remains on LSU’s roster.
