The top ranked LSU baseball team returned to practice today after basically having the Easter weekend off. They last played on Friday when they rallied from a seven to three deficit in the eighth inning to beat South Carolina eight to seven. Relief pitcher pitcher Garrett Edwards left that game with an arm injury. Coach Jay Johnson says Edwards is undergoing further evaluation today. The Tigers will head to New Orleans tomorrow to take on Tulane.

The Ragin Cajuns have won five in a row and they are now ranked 28th in the Collegiate Baseball’s top 30 National poll. The Cajuns swept Marshall over the weekend and they’ll will host Louisiana Tech tomorrow night.

The Bulldogs are 16 and 16 overall, six and six in Conference USA. Tech just took two of three from Rice.

McNeese Pitcher Grant Rogers has been named Southland Pitcher of the Week. The right-hander from Texas is 8-and-0 after he threw his second complete game of the season in an eight to three win over A-and-M Corpus Christi. The Cowboys will host Louisiana Christian tomorrow.

For a second year in a row, the Pelicans are preparing to participate in the play-in tournament. With yesterday’s loss to Minnesota, New Orleans finished in ninth place in the Western Conference and they will host Oklahoma City on Wednesday night. if the Pels can win, they’ll face the loser of tomorrow night’s game between the Lakers and Timberwolves. So New Orleans has to win two games in order to get into the first round of the playoffs, just like they did last year.

Former Louisiana Tech star Kenneth Lofton Junior scored a career-high 42 points in the Grizzlies loss to the Thunder. Lofton also just signed a four-year deal with Memphis and expect him to play a role for the Grizzlies in the playoffs.

Former LSU star Odell Beckham Junior has found a new home in the NFL as he signs a one-year deal with the Ravens. Beckham missed all of last season after injuring his knee in the Rams Super Bowl win over the Bengals.

Frustrating loss for the Pelicans yesterday as they fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves 113-108 in the regular season finale. The defeat pushes New Orleans down to the number nine seed, which means they’ll need to win two games in the play-in tournament in order to get into the first round of the playoffs. New Orleans led by 14 points in the first half and Coach Willie Green says his team failed to execute the little things, like boxing out on free throws…

So New Orleans will host Oklahoma City at 8:30 PM in a play-in tournament game on Wednesday. The Pels lose and they are done for the season, a win and they’ll play the loser of Tuesday’s game between the Lakers and Timberwolves.

The rain just would not go away in Columbia, South Carolina, so the top ranked LSU baseball team had to settle for a rain-shortened split of a two-game series with the Gamecocks. So LSU is 7-and-4 in league play, a half game back of Arkansas for first place in the SEC West.

The Ragin Cajuns are in first place in the Sun Belt West after sweeping Marshall. ULM swept a rain-shortened two game series against Appalachian State.

Louisiana Tech took two of three from Rice and the Bulldogs are 6-and-6 in Conference USA.

UNO and Nicholls are near the top of the southland standings, both are 5-and-4 in league play. The Colonels took two of three from UIW.

Grambling is 9-and-3 in the SWAC after dropping two of three to Texas Southern.

Back to the NBA, former La Tech star Kenneth Lofton signed a four-year deal with the Grizzlies and went out and scored a career-high 42 points yesterday in a loss to the Thunder.

The LSU Baseball team overcame a 4-run deficit to even up its road series with South Carolina on Friday. The Tigers won 8-7 and Gavin Dugas was the hero of the game as he hit a grand slam in the top of the eighth to tie the game 7-7. LSU is now 25-5 overall and 7-4 in the SEC. The series finale between The Tigers and Gamecocks is slated for 11am today, though it looks to be another rainy day in Columbia.

How bout those Pelicans? New Orleans improved their chances of avoiding the play-in round following a 113-105 victory over The Knicks Friday night. Trey Murphy scored 31 points for the Pels and CJ McCollum added 23. Now they’ll need to beat Minnesota tomorrow on the road in their regular season finale. The game Easter Sunday tips at 2:30pm. On Friday Pelicans Executive Vice President David Griffin said Zion Williamson has not been cleared to practice and it’s possible he’s done for the season.

The LSU Basketball team got some good news Friday as point guard Jalen Cook announced on Twitter he’s returning to The Tigers. The former Walker High School star transferred to Tulane after his freshman season, but proclaimed in a post wearing an LSU jersey, “I’m back.”

LSU Women’s Basketball star Alexis Morris has been invited to attend the WNBA draft Monday in New York. Morris led The Lady Tigers to its first National Championship with 21 points in LSU’s 102-85 victory over Iowa. Her teammates LaDazhia Williams and Jasmine Carson are also in the draft.

Meanwhile, LSU says the Lady Tigers basketball program will accept the invitation to the White House.

Taking a look at some other baseball scores around the state, Tulane fell to South Florida 15-3 in 7 innings. UL-Lafayette defeated Marshall 5-2. McNeese won the first game in a home doubleheader with Texas A&M Corpus Christi 8-3, but The Cowboys fell in the second game 5-3. Louisiana Tech beat Rice 6-4 in a game that didn’t start until 8:15pm due to rain in Houston. They’ll try to play the other two games of the series this afternoon.

The top ranked LSU baseball team pulled off an amazing comeback today in Columbia, South Carolina. Down seven to three in the eighth inning, Tigers second baseman Gavin Dugas hit a grand slam to tie the game at seven. In the ninth inning, Cade Beloso drove in the winning run with a single up the middle. Gavin Guidry earned the win in relief.

Pelicans executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin confirmed reports today that Zion Williamson will not be available for next week’s play-in games. LSU says the Lady Tigers basketball program will accept the invitation to the White House. That invitation was made today when President Biden called Coach Kim Mulkey and Star forward Angel Reese to congratulate them on their championship. A date has not been set.

In men’s hoops, Guard Jalen Cook is returning to LSU. AFter a standout career at Walker High School, Cook played his freshman season at LSU then transferred to Tulane and averaged nearly 20 points a game last season.

Tight end Mason Taylor had a nice freshman season for LsU as he caught 38 passes and scored three touchdowns. Offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock is looking forward to what Taylor can do his sophomore campaign…

Tough game for the top ranked LSU baseball team last night as they lost 13 to 5 to South Carolina. Tigers ace pitcher Paul Skenes lasted just three innings, because of a weather delay. He allowed three runs in those three innings. Gamecocks right fielder Ethan Petry drove in eight runs. The two teams will try to play a doubleheader today in Columbia starting at 11 AM.

The Cajuns doubled up Marshall eight to four as Will Veillon homered and drove in three runs. Jake Hammond was the winning pitcher. Cam Barlow allowed three runs in 7.2 innings as the Warhawks defeated Appalachian State 12 to 3.

UNO swept a doubleheader from Southeastern, Nicholls split a doubleheader with UIW. McNeese will try to play a doubleheader today against A-and-M Corpus Christi starting at 1.

A spokesperson for LSU says the Lady Tigers basketball team will go to the White House, despite comments from Angel Reese on a Podcast where she said they would rather visit the Obamas because of First Lady Jill Biden’s comments to have Iowa at the White House too.

The Pelicans say Zion Williamson continues to rehab his right hamstring injury and did not provide a timeline on when he’ll return. New Orleans hosts the Knicks tonight. Jake Madison, host of the Locked on Pelicans Podcast, says New Orleans will most likely play in the play-in tournament next week…

LSU celebrated its first national championship in basketball with a parade through campus that ended in the Maravich Center and the celebration continued in the PMAC as several players, Coach Kim Mulkey and dignitaries spoke in front of some grateful fans. The seniors had a chance to speak, including guard Alexis Morris

The Pelicans beat a short-manned Grizzlies team in overtime 138-131 last night. The Pels came back 19 points for their largest comeback season on a historic offensive performance. They set a franchise record with 21 threes and had three players score over thirty for the first time  in franchise history: CJ McCollum, Trey Murphy, and Herb Jones. The win ties New Orleans with the Lakers in 7th one game behind the Clippers and Warriors and a play-off berth with two games left in the season. They’ve clinched at worst the nine-seed and a spot in the play-in tournament and play their last home game of the season tomorrow night against the Knicks.

The LSU Baseball team begins its series in Columbia tonight at 6. The third-ranked Gamecocks lead the nation with 72 home runs. They’re second in the SEC East with an 8-1 conference record and are 27-3 overall. South Carolina is second in the SEC in team ERA at 2.98, but tonight the Tigers will face 6’6” 230 lb. right-hander Will Sanders on the mound, who’s struggled recently with a 5.17 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 31 innings pitched. The Tigers will hope to take advantage on offense while junior right-hander Paul Skenes will attempt to shut down the explosive Gamecock bats.

For the fist time on LSU’s campus last night, they celebrated a national championship in basketball as the Lady Tigers were honored for their historic achievement. Thousands attended a big celebration in the PMAC. Coach Kim Mulkey spoke for a few minutes and left the stage with this message….

Former Dunham High standout in Baton Rouge, Jordan Wright, is returning home to play for the LSU Tigers. Wright has spent the last four seasons at Vanderbilt and last season he averaged 11 points, five rebounds and two assists a game. This will be his final year of eligibility.

The N-B-A Season ends Sunday, but the Pelicans will play beyond that as they clinched at least a spot in the play-in tournament with a 138 to 131 overtime win over the Memphis Grizzlies last night. This was almost a disatrous loss as the Pels blew a six-point lead with eleven seconds left in regulation. But for the first time in franchise history, the team had three players score 30 points or more, Herb Jones, C-J McCollum and Trey Murphy. Jones had a career-high 35 points and took advantage of the Grizzlies not defending him on the perimeter…

Another big SEC series begins tonight for the top ranked LSU baseball team as they will face sixth ranked South Carolina for the next three days in Columbia. LSU’s starting pitchers for the series, Paul Skenes, Ty Floyd and Christian Little will get the start Saturday.

What a celebration on LSU’s campus for the national champion women’s basketball team last night. There was a parade through campus with players and coaches riding in convertibles with the tops down. And then inside the Maravich Center, some of the players spoke to a large crowd of fans and everyone was waiting to hear from four-time national champion head coach Kim Mulkey who came to LSU to win a title….

LSU men’s basketball coach Matt McMahon is looking to jump start his program. McMahon has received a commitment from Baton Rouge native Jordan Wright, who is transferring to LSU after playing four seasons at Vanderbilt where he averaged 11 points and six rebounds this past season.

The Pelicans host the Memphis Grizzlies tonight looking to get a win after losing their home floor to Sacramento last night. Memphis star Ja Morant is not expected to play as New Orleans enters the contest in eighth place in the Western Conference. With three games left in the regular season, the Pels will most likely be a part of the four-team play-in tournament.

One of the biggest stars on LSU’s defense last season was Freshman All-American Harold Perkins, who led the team with 72 tackles, 7.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and an interception. He flourished as an edge rusher, but Tigers defensive coordinator Matt House says Perkins is getting more reps at his natural position during spring football…

The Lady Tigers basketball team will also be celebrated inside the Maravich Center as the national championship trophy will be present, plus Coach Kim Mulkey and some of the players will address the crowd. LSU men’s basketball coach Matt McMahon has nabbed a player out of the transfer portal. Jordan Wright announced today he’s leaving Vanderbilt to play for the Tigers. Wright was a standout player at Dunham High School in Baton Rouge. Last season he averaged 11 points and five rebounds a game for the Commodores. The six-foot-six guard has four years of SEC experience.

Tomorrow is the first round of the Masters, former LSU golfer Sam Burns from Shreveport will tee off at 11:48 central time.

There will be a parade on campus that starts at 6:30 PM and then an event in the Maravich Center where Coach Kim Mulkey and several players will address the crowd. Iowa superstar guard Caitlin Clark told ESPN she has no problems with LSU All-American Angel Reese’s actions towards the end of the game that some people called poor sportsmanship.

After losing to Sacramento 121 to 103 last night, New Orleans is back at it tonight hosting Memphis. With three regular season games left, the Pels are in eighth place, one game behind the Clippers and Lakers for sixth place. A half game ahead of Minnesota for ninth place.

Tommy White slugged two home runs as top ranked LSU defeated Nicholls 12 to 2 in seven innings last night. But Dylan Crews went hitless, ending his hit streak at 26 games.

Elsewhere, the Cajuns defeated Tulane eight to seven, Northwestern State won by the same score over Louisiana Tech as the Demons won in 13 innings on Bo Willis’ walk-off single. ULM lost to Little Rock.

LSU defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo had a break out season last year as he racked up 47 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble in 13 games. He’s not participating in spring practice because of shoulder and core muscle injuries, but defensive coordinator Matt House says that doesn’t mean he isn’t still progressing…
