Brayden Jobert hit a grand slam in the second inning and that was followed by Cade Beloso with a three-run homer. The one negative, second baseman, Gavin Dugas left the game with a shoulder injury and his status for the rest of the series is unknown.

The Ragin Cajuns are tied for first place in the Sun Belt heading into this weekend. U-L Lafayette hosts Troy tonight. The Trojans are 6-and-6 in league play. ULM hosts South Alabama. Louisiana Tech is also at home to host FIU.

Louisiana Tech announces it will have a spring game on April 22nd at 11 AM. The game consist of two-15 minute running clock halves with a ten-minute halftime.

Despite numerous injuries, LSU has earned a spot in the NCAA Gymnastics Final Four. The Tigers posted a score of 197.475 in the semifinals yesterday in Fort Worth, Texas. LSU seeks its first title in program history on Saturday.

LSU men’s basketball announces Baton Rouge area natives Jalen Cook from Tulane and Jordan Wright from Vanderbilt have transferred to LSU.

Coach Jay Johnson says Garret Edwards and Chase Shores are out for the series with arm injuries, while Nate Ackenhausen is still recovering from a hamstring injury. Johnson says it’s an unfortunate reality but the Tigers will have to power on…

At least LSU has Paul Skenes on the mound tonight. He’s five and one with a 1.14 ERA. First pitch tonight is at 6 PM at Alex Box Stadium.

Last night, ULM beat La Tech for a second time this season, sweeping the series as the Warhawks downed the Bulldogs eight to five. Southeastern Louisiana ended the Cajuns six-game winning streak with a five to four win over U-L Lafayette. And McNeese scored three runs in the ninth inning to beat Rice seven to six.

The Pelicans season came to an end last night as New Orleans lost to Oklahoma City in the play-in tournament. The Thunder rolled past the Pels 123 to 118, despite 30 points from Brandon Ingram. Ingram says injuries kept this team from reaching its full potential…

CJ McCollum says he’ll need surgery on his thumb in the offseason and might also need shoulder surgery as well.

Louisiana Tech signee Paris Guillory has been anmed the Class 3A Girls Basketball Player of the Year. Guillory completed a standout career at St. Louis Catholic in Lake Charles by averaging 27 points, 11 rebounds and four assists a game this past season.

This afternoon, the LSU Gymnastics squad competes in the semifinals of the NCAA Championships in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Pelicans season came to an end last night with a 123 to 118 loss to Oklahoma City. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 25 second-half points to lead the Thunder past New Orleans in the play-in tournament game. S-G-A finished with 32 points.

Coach Willie Green says it’s a disappointing end to the season. When Zion Williamson was healthy, the Pels looked like one of the best teams in the NBA, but Zion has been out since early January and other injuries also crippled their team…

Sad news involving LSU men’s basketball as Wayne Sims died unexpectedly yesterday at the age of 54. He was a standout player for the Tigers from 1987 to 1991, helping the Bayou Bengals reach the NCAA Tournament four times.

Former LSU basketball player Wayne Sims has died at the age of 54. Sims was a four-year standout for the Tigers from 1987 to 1991 and made the NCAA tournament all four years. He played with former LSU greats Shaquille O Neal and Chris Jackson. Former coach Dale Brown says he’s crushed to hear about Sims’ passing…

The Pelicans will host the Thunder in the first round of the play-in tournament tonight. The youngest squad in the NBA, many thought the Thunder were in the midst of a rebuild, but thanks to the effort of All-Star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, went 40-42 on the season to earn the last play-in spot. The LSU football team lost defensive line coach and run game coordinator Jamar Cain to Sean Payton’s Denver coaching staff a few weeks ago. Defensive analyst Gerald Chatman took over as interim D-line coach and coach Brian Kelly says will be a candidate for the full-time position. Kelly said he’s looking for someone who can recruit in the SEC and develop players and should have a decision soon…

The top-ranked LSU Baseball team got an 11-5 midweek win over Tulane last night. Rightfielder Brayden Jobert and third baseman Tommy White each drove in 3 runs as the tigers improved to 27-5 on the year. The Bayou Bengals will return to action Thursday night as they play host to 12th-ranked Kentucky

The UL-Lafayette baseball team won its sixth straight last night defeating in-state rival Louisiana tech 10-5. The Cajuns improve to 24-9 on the season. They’ll look to earn win 25 tonight in Hammond against Southeastern. First pitch is at 6:00

Macklin says Sims collapsed at work yesterday and died at the age of 54.

Sims played at LSU from 1987 to 1991 and averaged almost 10 points a game during his career. He was part of the 1991 SEC Championship team. The DeRidder native is the father of LSU basketball player Wayde Sims, who was killed in 2018 in a shooting near the Southern University campus.

The Pelicans will try to survive and advance in the play-in tournament tonight as they host Oklahoma City at 8:30 PM. Zion Williamson will not play as he continues to be sidelined by a right hamstring injury. Williamson told the media yesterday he’s not mentally ready to play and it’s not easy sitting out…

If New Orleans can win tonight, they will play the Timberwolves on Friday in Minnesota. The winner of that game will face top-seeded Denver in the first round of the playoffs.

Last night the 12th ranked LSU softball team lost to top ranked Oklahoma three to nothing in front of a sold out crowd at Tiger Park. LSU returns to SEC play on Friday as they visit Auburn.

The top-ranked LSU Tigers took care of Tulane last night eleven to five as Tommy White and Brayden Jobert (Joe-bear) combined to drive in six runs and Bryce Collins earned his first win in relief.

John Taylor and Heat Hood each drove in three runs as the Cajuns defeated Louisiana Tech ten to five. That’s six straight wins for U-L Lafayette.

Grambling outscored Mississippi Valley State 12 to 11. Southern swept a doubleheader from Prairie View.

Zion Williamson will not play as Zion says he’s still not ready to test his injured hamstring in a game. Williamson says it stinks, but he’s glad Brandon Ingram has been playing at such a high level…

Ingram has been averaging 29 points a game in his last 12 games. Tonight’s game will tip off at 8:30. The winner will have to beat the Timberwolves on Friday in Minnesota in order to advance to the first round of the playoffs.

And former LSU star and current Buccaneers linebacker Devin White has reportedly asked to be traded as Tampa Bay looks to be rebuilding and White is entering the final year of his rookie contract.

No timetable has been given on when Chase Shores, Garret Edwards, or Nate Ackenhause will return, but coach Jay Johnson says left-hander Javen Coleman will pitch this season after undergoing reconstructive elbow surgery 13 months ago…

The UL-Lafayette appeared in Collegiate Baseball’s National Poll for the first time this season. The  No. 28 Cajuns are 23-9 on the season and 9-3 in the Sun Belt. They’ll open a 5-game week tonight as they host 16-16 Louisiana Tech

The Pelicans announced guard Jose Alvarado has been cleared to resume on-court basketball activities after suffering a stress reaction to his right Tibia in late February. He has been ruled out for tomorrow’s play-in game against the Thunder and is not expected to play for at least another week. Forward Larry Nance did participate in practice today and his status will be monitored for tomorrow’s play-in matchup. 

Zion Williamson spoke to the media for the first time since re-aggravating his hamstring. He said his experience dealing with injury last year has helped but not being able to play still “sucks…”

Buccaneers Pro-Bowl linebacker and former first-round pick out of LSU Devin White has requested a trade. White is in the fifth year of his rookie contract worth $11.7 million with a multiyear deal the next step, but sources say he’s grown increasingly frustrated with the team. The Bucs reportedly have no intention of trading him.

The top ranked LSU baseball team plays at Tulane tonight for the first time since 2018. The Fighting Tigers are 26-and-5, while the Green Wave are 9-and-23. But Coach Jay Johnson says Tulane is a much better team than their record indicates.

LSU’s strength of schedule is ranked at the 9th best in the country. Johnson says many of the non-conference teams they’ve played are having great seasons

At 23-9, UL-Lafayette is ranked 28th in Collegiate Baseball’s Top 30 poll and the Cajuns are receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll. McNeese Pitcher Grant Rogers has been named Southland Pitcher of the Week. The right-hander from Texas is 8-and-0 after he threw his second complete game of the season in an eight to three win over A-and-M Corpus Christi. The Cowboys will host Louisiana Christian tonight.

Addison Fruge of Rosepine has been named the Class 2A Girls Basketball Player of the Year as she led the Eagles to a Division three nonselect state championship averaging 17 points a game.
