LSU Coach Brian Kelly spoke with the media Monday afternoon to recap the Missouri victory and preview Saturday’s home contest against Auburn. He says after watching film of his team from the weekend, they are starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel:

Quarterback Jayden Daniels, who threw for 259 yards and three touchdowns in the game, has been named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season and is now in the Heisman Trophy conversation. LSU takes on Auburn Saturday night in Death Valley at 6pm and Kelly says his team is very much in the hunt to repeat as SEC West champs.

Louisiana Tech will face Conference USA opponent Middle Tennessee tonight on the road at 6pm in a game that will be nationally televised on CBS. The Bulldogs are 3-4 and 2-1 in conference play.

There is a lot to be happy about for Saints fans after New Orleans embarrassed the Patriots Sunday in a 34-0 shutout. Coach Dennis Allen liked how his team ended trips in the red zone with touchdowns…:

New Orleans will take on the Texans in Week 6. The Cardinals have claimed running back Tony Jones Jr. off waivers after the Saints released him ahead of Sunday’s game.

The Louisiana Christian Football team is ranked in the NAIA Top 25 poll for the first time in program history. The Wildcats, who are currently 6-0 on the season, came in at #25 in the rankings following a 55-0 win over North American over the weekend.

The Saints had their best performance of the season on Sunday in a 34-0 win over the New England Patriots. Tyrann Mathieu started the scoring with an interception return for a touchdown. Derek Carr threw two touchdown passes. Alvin Kamara scored his first TD, to set the franchise record for touchdowns with 73. Blake Grupe made two field goals beyond 50 yards. Coach Dennis Allen says all three phases played well…

The Saints are on the road again this Sunday at Houston.

Joe Burrow and the Bengals also had their best performance of the season yesterday as Cincinnati defeated Arizona 35-20. Burrow threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns, while former Rummel star Ja’Marr Chase had a seaosn-high 192 receiving yards on a franchise record 15 catches.

LSU Football Coach Brian Kelly says he expects Quarterback Jayden Daniels will practice tomorrow, despite taking some big hits in Saturday’s 49-39 win over Missouri. Daniels had to leave for a brief time in the second half after getting slammed to the turn, but came back to lead the Tigers on two scoring drives. He finished with 259 passing yards, 130 yards on the ground and Daniels accounted for four touchdowns.

The Ragin Cajuns rallied back from a nine-point fourth quarter to beat Texas State 34-30 for a big win over the Bobcats. Zeon Chriss threw three touchdown passes and UL Lafayette forced a couple of turnovers in the second half. Coach Michael Desoremaux’s team is now 4-2, 1-1 in the Sun Belt…

The Saints took advantage of a not-so-good New England Patriots team by blanking the Pats 34-0 to snap a two-game losing streak. Derek Carr threw two touchdown passes and Alvin Kamara rushed for 80 yards and a TD. He’s now the Saints franchise leader in touchdowns with 73. A-K expressed his displeasure last week with the performance of the offense and is glad he spoke up…

The Saints are 3-and-2, tied with Atlanta for second place in the NFC South. Tampa Bay had Sunday off and they lead the division with a 3-and-1 mark. New Orleans is at two and three Houston this Sunday. The Falcons kicked a game winning field on the final play to beat the Texans yesterday.

After beating Missouri 49-39 on Saturday night, LSU moved up one spot to number 22 in the latest A-P poll. It didn’t look good early on for the Bayou Bengals as they trailed 22-7, but they played better in the second half, allowing just two touchdowns. Coach Brian Kelly hopes that unit has turned a corner…

LSU is back at home Saturday night for a six o’ clock kick off against Auburn. The Plainsmen ranks 13th in the SEC in total offense.

Elsewhere…the Ragin Cajuns rallied from a nine-point deficit to beat Texas State 34-30 on Saturday. South Alabama thumped ULM 55-7. Nicholls is 2-0 in the Southland. Grambling and Southern both lost on Saturday and Louisiana Tech is at Middle Tennessee tomorrow night.

Finley is playing very well as the Bobcats are averaging 43 points a game which leads the Sun Belt and they are averaging 10 yards per pass play. Cajuns Coach Michael Desormeaux says Texas State is tough to defend…

U-L-M hosts South Alabama on Saturday night. The Warhawks are looking to bounce back after a walk off loss to Appalachian state. This is the fifth meeting between the two teams in Malone Stadium, and ULM has won the last four meetings.

Louisiana Tech lost last Thursday night 35-28 to Western Kentucky and have a will play Middle Tennessee on Tuesday.

While LSU’s defense has struggled, the Tigers offense is putting up huge numbers, averaging 44 points a game, which ranks seventh in the nation. Quarterback Jayden Daniels is second in the nation in total offense, averaging 400 yards a game. Daniels says the work they did in the offseason is paying off…

Louisiana Tech fell behind 35-7 to Western Kentucky, but rallied in the second half to make it a game, only to lose 35-28. It’s the second straight home game the Bulldogs got off to a slow start and Coach Sonny Cumbie says they have to start faster….

The Bulldogs are now 3-and-4, 2-and-1 in Conference USA. Tech only has a few days to get ready for their next game as they will visit Middle Tennessee on Tuesday night.

LSU women’s basketball star Angel Reese has two more years of eligibility left, but Reese says she’s treating this season as her last. The national champs tip off the season on November sixth against Colorado in Las Vegas.

Louisiana Tech found themselves down 35-7 at halftime to Western Kentucky last the night. The Bulldogs rallied in the second half but came up short and lost to the Hilltoppers 35-28. Tech had trouble containing Malachi Corley who had eight catches for 207 yards and three touchdowns.

There’s more college football in north Louisiana tomorrow as ULM hosts South Alabama. Both teams are 0-1 in the Sun Belt. The Warhawks suffered a heart breaking loss to Appalachian State last week.

Big game for the Ragin Cajuns tomorrow as U-L Lafayette hosts Texas State. The Bobcats are 5-and-1 and led by former LSU Quarterback T-J Finley who has thrown ten touchdown passes and has just one interception.

After winning in Lake Charles last Saturday, Nicholls will host Houston Christian at 3 PM. McNeese is at Texas A-and-M Commerce, Southeastern Louisiana visits UIW and Northwestern state travels to Lamar.

Grambling looks to go 3-0 in the SWAC as they visit Alcorn state.

23rd ranked LSU could be involved in another offensive shootout on Saturday when the Tigers visit the undefeated 21st ranked Missouri Tigers. Mizzou quarterback Brady Cook has played very well this season, completing 74-percent of his passes for 1,488 yards, 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions. Missouri’s defense has been excellent in stopping the run. They are allowing opponents to rush for 75 yards per game, eighth best in the country. But Mizzou is 89th in the country in passing yards allowed at 242 yards. Kick-off is at 11 AM.

Louisiana Tech can improve to 3-0 in Conference USA tonight if they can beat Western Kentucky. The Hilltoppers are the preseason pick to win the league and they have the best quarterback in the conference in Austin Reed. LSU baseball’s 2023 recruiting class is ranked as the third best in the country by Baseball America. The first fall-squad practice is today. Star third baseman Tommy White will miss the fall ball because of shoulder surgery.

Saints defensive tackle Bryan Bresee (bruh-ZEE) was at practice today after missing yesterday with an illness.

Brooks’ speech and ability to communicate have been impacted by the extensive surgery to remove the tumor that was located on the cerebellum and brainstem.

Meanwhile, Brooks’ teammates are getting ready for their trip to Missouri. The Tigers are trying to get more from their defensive line, which is why they brought in former assistant D-line coach Pete Jenkins as an analyst. LSU defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo says he’s soaking in Pete’s knowledge…

Last night in Conference USA action, Jacksonville State defeated Middle Tennessee 45-30 to go to 3-0 in league play.

Former LSU pitcher Aaron Nola threw seven shutout innings last night as the Phillies completed a two game sweep of the Marlins to advance to the National League Championship Series.

LSU star third baseman Tommy White will miss fall practice after undergoing shoulder surgery.

LSU announced today safety Greg Brooks has been diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called medulloblastoma. Brooks underwent surgery last month to remove a large tumor after complaining about dizzy spells. Doctors say the surgery was successful in removing the tumor and there is no evidence the cancer spread. But Brooks faces months of intensive rehabilitation. To help with his medical costs the Tiger Athletic Foundation has launched the Greg Brooks Victory Fund.

Six Saints players did not practice today as the team is getting ready to visit the New England Patriots on Sunday. Defensive tackle Bryan Bresee missed the practice because of an illness. Cornerback Lonnie Johnson has a hamstring injury and Andrus Peat is suffering from a concussion. Cesar Ruiz was a full participant for a first time since suffering a concussion against the Packers and cornerback Paulson Adebo, who has missed the last two weeks was limited.

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association is keeping the playoff format they had last year after high school principals voted not to change the definition of a select school. Todd Black is the co-host of the Louisiana Prep Scoreboard Show and believes the vote was correct and that any school that takes students out of their traditional attendance zones should be considered select…
