Governor Jeff Landry is making national headlines with the Ten Commandments law requiring them to be displayed in every Louisiana public classroom. Some might question if the Republican has political aspirations outside of the state, UL-Monroe Political science professor Pearson Cross believes Landry’s “end game” is without boundaries…

Daniel Callihan the man accused of killing a Loranger woman and her four year old daughter has been extradited back to Louisiana from Mississippi. The 36-year-old is listed as an inmate in the Plaquemines Parish Detention Center. Callihan faces charges in both states and federal charges are anticipated.

Louisiana is seeing an increase in the fall webworm population for this time of year. They could cause major damage to your fruit and nut trees.  Jeff Palermo has the story.

Louisiana is seeing an increase this year in a fuzzy blondish caterpillar called fall webworms. LSU AgCenter urban entomologist Aaron Ashbrook says they do not bite humans, but they could do a number on trees and bushes in your yard…

Former Ragin’ Cajuns two-sport star and assistant Alabama softball coach Alyson Habetz (habits) is returning to U-L Lafayette as head softball coach. Jeff Palermo reports a Hall of Fame coach is excited for her former school.

Former Zachary High tight end Trey ‘Dez Green will play two sports next year at LSU. The 6-foot-7 tall player will shoot hoops for the Tigers and play football. He was the number two pick for LSU’s 2024 gridiron recruiting class and his junior year at East Feliciana High he averaged 24 points and 13 rebounds.

Beloved Chalmette High School principal Wayne Warner continues to recover from a broken hip and elbow after he was attacked by 33-year-old Christopher Kidd who is wheelchair-bound. St Bernard Parish Sheriff James Pohlman says the 79-year-old Warner saw Kidd pushing over trash cans and asked Kidd what he was doing and that’s when the disabled man pushed him down…

Kidd has been arrested and faces several charges. He has a criminal history that dates back to 2016.

The National Hurricane Center is watching a tropical wave in the southeastern Caribbean that could reach the southern Gulf of Mexico this weekend. Forecasters are giving the disturbance a low chance of developing.

Baton Rouge Republican Congressman Garrret Graves who previously announced he’s not seeking re-election this year and has put out another statement that says he has no plans to run for any office, including dog catcher. There was speculation he would run for a seat that’s opening on the Public Service Commission.

23% of Louisiana adults 65 and older are still working according to a study by Lending Tree that used US Census Bureau data. Mel Bridges has more.

Former Baton Rouge Representative Scott McKnight is running for the Public Service Commission. McKnight will seek to replace District 2 PSC Commissioner Craig Greene, who is not seeking re-election.

McKnight served in the Louisiana House from 2020-to-2024 and unsuccessfully ran for State Treasurer last year.

The longest-serving principal in the country is facing surgery after he was allegedly attacked by wheelchair-bound, 33-year-old Christopher Kidd. St Bernard Parish Sheriff James Pohlman says when Chalmette High School principal 79-year-old Wayne Warner saw Kidd pushing over trash cans Sunday night, he stopped to render aid.

Former Baton Rouge Representative Scott McKnight is running for the Public Service Commission. Current district 2 commissioner Craig Greene announced he would not seek re-election. McKnight says this is a regulatory position and that means striking a balance of what is going on in the industry.

The election will be held on November 5, 2024, with a December 7th run-off if necessary. Candidates will qualify for the election next month.

Lafayette Senator Jean-Paul Coussan and former state representative Barry Ivey from Central have also expressed interest in running.

Republican Congressman Garrett Graves, who is not seeking re-election for his seat in the U-S House, says he does not intend to run for P-S-C seat as some had speculated. Graves says he looks forward to stepping back from the growing divisiveness and polarization of political office, spending more time with normal people and reintroducing himself to friends and family.
