This is after Governor Landry issued an executive order to optimize operations and find additional revenue for the department. A Tulane University study is looking to find out if estrogen can help women overcome cognitive issues later in life. Professor of Brain Science Dr. Jill Daniel says they are using rodents to test the theory and so far, it appears that short-term estrogen use in middle age leads to improved brain health long after use.

Cheatle told a House Committee Monday the agency failed in protecting former President Donald Trump. Louisiana U-S Senator Bill Cassidy says it’s outrageous the public spotted the shooter before the Secret Service acted….

If Vice President Kamala Harris becomes the Democratic presidential nominee, a former Louisiana congressman could be her choice for vice presidential running mate. Cedric Richmond, a New Orleans native and 1998 graduate of Tulane Law School is being considered for the position. Harris has reportedly requested vetting materials on Richmond who previously worked in the Biden Administration. In 2020 Richmond resigned from his position representing the 2nd Congressional District to join President Biden’s administration.

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning double homicide just outside Amite. Around 5:00 AM Tuesday morning, Amite Police responded to a 911 call for help from a woman saying she had been shot. Police arrived at the mobile home on MLK Street to find a man and woman dead from gunshot wounds. The couple is believed to be live-in romantic partners in their late 20s. Their identities have not yet been released. Sheriff Gerald Sticker is asking for anyone with information to contact the Sherriff’s office.

New Orleans Representative Aimee Freeman who’s been diagnosed breast cancer says she found the lump when she did a self-exam. She urges woman to perform monthly self-exams in addition to annual mammograms. She says when you notice a change, talk to your doctor to rule anything out.

Twenty-five year-old Aaliyah Jack’s bond has been set at nine million dollars. The Lake Charles woman is accused of killing her four-year-old son and abandoning her one-year one child. Jack was arrested in Mississippi after her four-year-old son was found in a pond at the Vinton Welcome Center. Jack told KPLC TV that she was on drugs.

According to a report from the Public Affairs Research Council, about 867-thousand low income residents each month receive food stamps and 45-percent of those recipients are children. That means one out of every five people in Louisiana relies on food stamps. Invest in Louisiana director Jan Moeller says this report shows why it was so important for the state to put up three-million dollars to pay for a federal EBT program that provides lunches to low-income children who are of school for the summer…
