The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office says five people have been arrested after receiving a complaint that they were keeping a 22-year-old woman locked up in a cage. According to the TPSO, Raylaine Knope, 40; Terry Knope, 43; Taylor Knope, 18; Bridget Lambert, 19; and Jody Lambert, 21 were arrested in connection with human trafficking and cruelty to the infirm.

Houston-based Kinder Morgan plans to expand its pipeline operation in the Bayou State which will mean 300 construction jobs in northeast Louisiana. Vice-president of public affairs, Allen Fore, says this project will help the state build upon its energy industry…:

Law enforcement around the state are gearing up for a potential threat in Louisiana following the Dallas attack that left five police officers dead. State Police Col. Mike Edmonson says there is concern that something similar could happen in Louisiana because a suspect in the Dallas shooting told police he was upset about the police violence in Baton Rouge and Minnesota…:

A man who organized a Shreveport vigil on the police shootings has decided to cancel the event amid death threats. In a Facebook post, Jerome James Adkins says he has not only received threats against his life, but also posts on Facebook that he is taking very seriously. He stresses that those who wish harm on anyone have not won, because he doesn’t planned to be silenced.

Kinder Morgan plans to expand its pipeline operation in Madison, Richland, Franklin and Rapides parishes, which means 300 construction jobs in these areas. Kinder Morgan spokesperson Allen Fore, says the jobs start out pay is between 20 and 30 dollars…

The parents of a two-year-old boy found in a pastic garbage bag on a levee in Jefferson Parish are behind bars this morning. Twenty-one-year-old Gabrielle Whittington and Onterio Thompson have been charged with unlawful disposal of human remains and obstruction of justice. The coroner estimates the child may have been buried in the ground for at least two weeks and there’s no obvious cause of death, because the body was badly decomposed

The mother of the child of Alton Sterling, the man who was shot by Baton Rouge Police Officers, has issued a statement regarding the shootings in Dallas that resulted in the deaths of five officers. Quinyetta McMillon says officers who violate the public trust should be held accountable through the justice system, but responding to violence with violence is not the answer.

Statistics published by Huffington Post show that since 2005, 13 officers have been convicted of murder or manslaughter in on-duty fatal shootings, even though there have been hundreds of police shootings during that time. Legal Analyst Tim Meche says we haven’t seen a lot of convictions when it comes to fatal police shootings, but that’s all changed now with cell phone videos..:

Amid protests over the fatal police shootings of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, and Philando Castile of St. Paul, President Barack Obama says Americans should be deeply troubled. In what’s being called the deadliest day for police officers since 9/11, 5 cops in Dallas lost their lives at the hands of snipers during a peaceful protest over the deaths of Sterline and Castile. The President says there’s a lack of trust between law enforcement and their communities…:

State Police say multiple threats to the Baton Rouge area circulating over the internet are being seen as a social media hoax and are determined to have originated from persons angry with the incidents. They say at this time, they have not identified any credible information to indicate that an attack will take place in our area.

Since then the President has said he’s horrified that a protest in Dallas over the murders of Sterling and Castile turned deadly. Cops say 5 Dallas officers were killed and 6 others injured by what appeared to be snipers in calculated positions. One suspect is reportedly dead and three others in custody.

Meanwhile though authorities in Louisiana say threats are going around here, none of them are credible and the public should be cautious when it comes to sharing erroneous reports on social media. State Police say fake threats can unnecessarily alarm the public and divert resources and attention away from the important task at hand.

In the latest development in the fatal police shooting of Alton Sterling, sources say there was only one of the two officers involved that fired their weapon. They say it was Blane Salamoni who is believed to have fired all of the shots. An autopsy conducted by the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office revealed that Sterling died of multiple gunshot wounds to his back and chest.

A former Fontainebleau High School teacher and coach has been arrested amid allegations he had sex with one of his students. St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Capt. Daniel Seuzeneau says 37-year-old William Leto made contact with the student through social media and then began grooming her to trust him. He says the suspect faces many charges…:

Sources have told media outlets that it was 28-year-old Blane Salamoni who fired his weapon into the chest of Alton Sterling, killing him oustide of a convenience store early Tuesday morning. Salamoni is a four-year veteran of the force and he along with 28-year-old Howie Lake have been put on administrative leave.

Was the shooting of Sterling justified? That’s the question many are asking. East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore says he was present when members of the Baton Rouge Police Department began interviewing the two officers involved…:

Faith-based leaders believe the federal investigation into the fatal police shooting of Sterling should not just examine whether the shooting was justified. Rev. Lee Wesley believes things like false arrest, aggravated battery, assault with a deadly weapon, and second degree murder should also be considered…:

Tangiaphoa Parish Sheriff deputies arrest five individuals for human trafficking and cruelty to the infirmed after they allegedly kept a 22-year-old female locked up in a cage at a residence in Amite. Investigators say the victim suffers from autism and was malnourised and suffered from numerous insect bites. Authorities also say four juveniles were removed from the home.

We are learning more about the two officers who were involved in the fatal shooting of Sterling. According to police documents, the two men had four different “use of force” complaints against them and were cleared of all of them. For one of the officers, this is the second time, they’ve been involved in a police shooting.

Another vigil takes place tonight for Alton Sterling. A large crowd gathered for last night’s vigil at the scene where Sterling was shot multiple times. They heard from Sterling’s aunt, Sandra Sterling….

Brandon Boutin hired Sterling to be a line cook at a local Baton Rouge restaurant. He says that Sterling was known as the “CD man,” and that it wasn’t unusual to see him outside the store where he died trying to make a living…:

Baton Rouge faith based leaders community want the Justice Department to look for other potential crimes as they conduct an investigation into whether Alton Sterling’s civil rights were violated when the african-american was shot by two white police officers. Alton Sterling, the man shot by a Baton Rouge Police officer, outside of a conveience store on Tuesday does have a previous criminal history. He was arrested for offenses that include aggravated battery, criminal damage to property, drug possession and carnal knowledge of a juvenile. But Brandon Boutin knew Sterling and says the 37-year-old man was working hard to straighten out his life and make sure everything was on the up and up…

Monroe Police have charged Quinton Tellis with first-degree murder in the death of a ULM student, who was found dead in her apartment last August. Tellis has been the primary suspect in the case and after a nearly year-long investigation authorities were able to collect enough information. Tellis is also facing capital murder charges in the burning death of a 19-year-old girl in Mississippi.

The governor’s office says Edwards will meet with the US Attorney’s office, the FBI and state police.
