The Department of Children and Family Services has received federal approval for a second month of disaster food assistance for 11 parishes most heavily impacted by the August flooding. DCFS Secretary Marketa Garner Walters says anyone who received aid last month will automatically have their card reloaded this month….:

Louisiana has come up with a creative way to get more people to vote in the November 8th election. Secretary of State Tom Schedler unveiled a new “I Voted” sticker featuring Louisiana’s own Blue Dog by artist George Rodrigue….:

The Louisiana Department of Transportation has launched a campaign to promote roundabout safety tips. DOTD Spokesperson Rodney Mallett says typically in the months following the installation of a roundabout, they receive a lot of positive feedback from motorists…:

Mallett says the key to navigating roundabouts is to slow down, yield to traffic, proceed right, and follow signs.

Embattled Jefferson Parish President Mike Yenni says he has no plans to step down from his post despite several parish leaders calling for his resignation amid the 17-year-old boy sexting scandal. Yenni admitted to the allegation, yet maintains that he did nothing illegal.

A statement released by Jefferson Parish President Mike Yenni says he won’t be resigning after allegations surfaced he sent sexually explicit messages to a 17-year-old boy. Yenni says he has taken responsibility for his poor judgement but this is a personal matter and does not affect is ability to govern his parish. He adds he has not broken any laws and has not been contacted by any agency conducting an investigation.

LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva gave a scheduling update on the “post-poned” Florida away game, and it doesn’t look promising. Michelle Southern reports…:

It looks like Mike VI could be in his last says as the live mascot has been transitioned into hospice care, according to the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. Mike’s Vet, Dr. David Baker, said last week at a press conference that they knew this was coming and plan to care for the tiger for as long as his health allows.

Mike VI’s condition appears to be worsening faster than anyone had anticipated, as the LSU Vet School announces he has been moved to hospice care. Mike’s vet, Dr. David Baker, says they will care for Mike as long as his health allows.

Baker says when the time comes, Mike will be humanely euthanized.

Eight helicopters from the Louisiana National Guard have been deployed to assist with Hurricane Matthew response efforts in Florida and South Carolina. LANG spokesperson Patrick Bossetta says they’ll do whatever they need to do to help those affected by the storm.

The deadly storm has claimed the lives of at least 20 people in four states.

Four people, including one 10-year-old, are in the hospital after a 20 foot obstacle collapsed at the Warrior Dash in St. Francisville. Brant Thompson with the State Fire Marshall’s Office says the so-called Diesel Dome came down with 20 people on top of it, and investigators are working to figure out why.

Thompson says over 5-thosuand people registered for the 5k obstacle course.

Only 29 days are left until the November election, and Secretary of State Tom Schedler reminds voters that tomorrow is the last day to register to vote. He says other than the presidential and senate races, there’s also plenty of local and congressional races, as well as proposed changes to the state constitution.

Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne has been released from the hospital after he was admitted Saturday with what he called pressure in his chest. It’s unclear when the governor’s chief budget officer will return to work, but he says he’s taking his doctor’s advice and resting because there were blockages discovered in his heart.

The last day to register for the November 8th election is tomorrow. Meanwhile, Secretary of State Tom Schedler says some precincts were damaged in the August flood, and they will have to set up alternative polling locations. He says in Livingston parish, most precincts will be moved to a site at Juban Crossing.

Schedler says voters displaced by the flood will be able to vote in their regular precinct or by mail.

It’s not looking good for the LSU-Florida match up to happen this season. Athletic Director Joe Alleva says it’s been suggested the Tigers could play the Gators on November 19th, when LSU is scheduled to play South Alabama at home.

The state fire mashal continues to investigate how an obstacle during a race in St. Francisville collapsed, injuring over a dozen people, several of them were seriously hurt. Chief Deputy Brant Thompson says they are working to interview those who were injured as well as other race participants. …

The university will look into adopting another tiger, Baker said, which they’ll find through a rescue organization.

The Louisiana National Guard is assisting in Hurricane Matthew recovery efforts with 8 helicopters sent to both South Carolina and Florida. LANG spokesman Patrick Bossetta says included in the deployment are two UH-60 Blackhawks, two UH-72 Lakotas and 32 crew members, medics and maintenance support. He says that’s more than usual but Matthew was so massive:

He says the copters are back from Florida but four remain in South Carolina.

It’s not looking good for the LSU/Florida game to be rescheduled. One of the options that has been mentioned was for The Tigers and Gators to play on November 19th. Athletic Director Joe Alleva said he’s been in contact with the SEC and it appears that making this game happen will be extremely difficult…:

LSU is slated to play non conference opponent South Alabama on November 19th in Tiger Stadium and Alleva emphasized several times that there WILL be a home game that day.

The Jefferson Parish School Board reportedly says they are going to consider a resolution during a meeting tomorrow night that would ban embattled parish president Mike Yenni from all schools in the parish. Many have called for Yenni’s resignation since reports surfaced that he’d sent appropriate messages to a 17-year-old boy — and Yenni even admitted it in a commercial. The school board says it doesn’t feel it’s its place to call for Yenni to resign, but he shouldn’t be around schools.

Deputy Chief with the State Fire Marshall’s Office, Brant Thompson, says a 20 foot tall climbing structure called the “Diesel Dome” came down while 20 people were on it…:

One of those injured was a 10-year-old who was taken to the Children’s Hospital in New Orleans. He says they are working to determine if there’s criminal negligence.

Louisiana Division of Administration Commissioner Jay Dardenne was hospitalized over the weekend for a heart attack. He said he was treated for some blockages and released today and is going to ge some rest before returning to work.

Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne was released from the hospital this morning after being admitted two days prior for chest pains. In a statement Dardenne said he had a heart catheterization that revealed some blockages but he’s been treated and remains alert and very thankful. He said he looks forward to returning to work as soon as he is cleared.

Monroe is the fourth poorest city in the nation according to a new report by 24/7 Wall Street. ULM economics professor Dr. Robert Eisenstadt  says this doesn’t surprise him because Monroe has a poverty rate of about 24 percent and an unemployment rate of just over 6%. He says a positive for Ouachita parish is that it’s not impacted by the downturn in the oil industry…:

There’s been another clown charge in LaFourche Parish. The Lockport Police Department says 29 year old Eric Gregoire (Greg-war) is accused of wearing the creepy mask and jumping in front of a man who was putting out trash at a gas station in the middle of the night. Gregorie was issued a criminal summons for a single count of wearing a mask in public – a law that says you can’t wear a disguise that that in public outside of certain holidays. Gregoire is the third person in Lafourche Parish to be charged with wearing a mask a public since the warning.
