Sources say the Saints have signed veteran linebacker Manti Te’o to a two-year contract. After a standout career at Notre Dame, Te’o has played his first four seasons in the NFL with San Diego, but he’s missed 26 games during that time because of injuries. He missed most of last season with a torn Achillies tendon.

New Orleans is also bringing back cornerback Sterling Moore on a one-year deal. Moore joined the franchise right before the start of the regular season and led the team in pass break-ups and had two interceptions to go along with 56 tackles.

LSU and McNeese will play each other in football in 2021. The two schools are scheduled to play on September 11th in Tiger Stadium. LSU opens that season by playing UCLA in the Rose Bowl.

Southern Football Coach Dawson Odums has signed a contract extension through 2019 and he received a modest pay raise.

New LSU basketball coach Will Wade is on his way to Baton Rouge after agreeing to become the next head coach of the Tigers. It’s been reported Wade agreed to a six-year deal. Tiger Rag Editor Cody Worsham says the Clemson grad has a reputation as someone who eats, sleeps and breathes basketball…

Today is Ag-Day which is a day to recognize the agriculture industry’s contribution to our daily lives. State Ag Commissioner Mike Strain says the historic floods in March and August of last year made it hard for many farms, both large and small, across the state. He says traveling to a foreign country that doesn’t have enough food makes one truly appreciate the ag industry.

Two suspects are in critical condition after an apparent robbery in St. Martinville where a homeowner shot the men as they were trying to enter the home armed with a gun. A 16-year-old Benton teen has pleased guilty to manslaugter in the death of a 91-year-old family member. The Bossier Parish District Attorney Schulyer Marvin says Donzell Hogan could be in jail until he’s 31. Hogan killed Ludella Scott last July and stole her social security payment after Scott refused to give him 20 dollars.

Property owners in Louisiana are stepping up to help flood victims struggling to recover from the March and August floods. Governor John Bel Edwards says renters make up 35-percent of the state’s population, and one in four flood victims are renters. He says federal dollars will be available to help these people get back into rental properties…:

The suspects in this morning’s shooting in Breaux Bridge have been identified by the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office. Spokeswoman Ginny Higgins says 26 year old Joseph Broussard of Morse and 31-year-old Drewe Christopher Schexnider of Kaplan allegedly tried to rob a homeowner at 3am, but ended up being shot by the resident. The funeral for the slain East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Deputy will be held on Thursday. 43-year-old Sgt. Shawn Anderson was shot and killed while conducting a rape investigation at a barbershop in Baton Rouge. Services will be held at Healing Place Church beginning at 8pm the day after tomorrow. The suspect, 30-year-old Brandon Wiley, was critically wounded and remains hospitalized.

Baton Rouge Representative Barry Ivey is once again bringing back his proposal to the legislature that would allow non-felons over the age of 21 to carry a concealed gun without a permit. He says the Constitution guarantees our right to carry guns, and it doesn’t dictate how they should be carried…:

Roger Harris with the Legislative auditor’s office says the only person in charge of collecting money was Jodie Dean of West Ridge Middle, but Stacey Rogers, was responsible for making deposits and keeping records of the funds…:

Roger Harris with the Legislative Auditor’s Office says over 11-thousand dollars was collected from eighth graders between 2013 and 2014 for a trip to Disney World. He says there was one teacher in charge of collecting the money for the trip, Jodie Dean…:
