Two people were injured and dozens have been evacuated off of a Shell platform about 115 miles of the Louisiana coast, according to the U.S. Coast Guard. Petty Officer Lexie Preston says a 54-year-old male suffered from flash burns and a concussion and a 29-year-old male suffered a sprained wrist and a concussion.

Preston says the fire has been reduced to a small flame and a light sheen is reported north of the platform.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly attacking a woman who tried to help him as he was lying in a ditch near Oak Grove. West Carroll Parish Sheriff Jerry Philley says the victim saw Christian Turnbow on the side of the road as she was driving her kids to school. He says police arrived after one of her children called 911 to report the attack.

The SARC of Sabine Workforce building in Many has been destroyed by a fire. State Fire Marshal Butch Browning says this is a great loss to the community as the facility helps developmentally disabled individuals find jobs. He says they are looking for a place for them to relocate.

He says the alleged arsonist is an active participant in some of the programs at the center and is in custody.

Rayville Police arrested a 14-year-old twice yesterday after allegedly bringing a handgun and rifle ammunition to school. Police Chief Willie Robinson says the teen was originally charged for possession of the ammo and released to his grandparents but then they got word of a handgun still at school. He says the teen was picked up again and gave police an excuse.

The US Coast Guard says the fire on the Shell platform in the Gulf has been reduced to a small flame. A Covington woman is under arrest after cops busted her lying about an NFL referee; saying he was abusing her. Lt. Brennan Matherne with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says 49-year-old Sandra Brooks’ charges include defamation because she also filed a report with the NFL against the victim. Matherne says they take domestic abuse seriously but it is never acceptable to falsely report these incidents…:

Brooks was also charged with domestic abuse.

More than half of LSU’s 27 fraternities are in some kind of trouble for violating policy both before and after the death of LSU pledge Max Gruver. The punishments range from suspensions, being kicked off campus, on probation or letter of reprimand. The latest is an LSU letter sent to Alpha Gamma Rho saying they must stop all charter events because of an incident, “not in compliance with university policies.”

The Rayville Police Department arrested a 14-year-old twice yesterday after he was found with rifle ammunition and a handgun at school. Two people were injured after an oil platform caught on fire early this morning.  The Enchilada platform is located near Garden Banks, about 115 miles south of Vermillion Bay.  46 workers were evacuated.  Officials say the injured were taken to a Houston hospital.  The Coast Guard reports there are no oil spills.

WBRZ in Baton Rouge is reporting that the Louisiana State Penitentiary is investigating an incident in which a teen was allegedly raped at the Angola rodeo. They said many unsuccessful attempts were made to get information from prison officials before the report aired last night, but then multiple sources agreed to discuss the situation if not identified. The prison issued a statement saying it’s an ongoing investigating into the alleged incident which may have occurred during the last weekend of the rodeo.

In Calcasieu Parish, two out- of- state contractors are dead after falling from a helicopter. The Sheriff’s Office reports both men were working on electrical lines from a chopper when their safety harness snapped, causing them to fall about 100 feet to the ground. Emerge Louisiana is a new group that will train female Democrats on how to run a successful campaign for political office. Executive Director Melanie Oubre says any interested females can apply for the training program through November 18th and 20 to 25 women will be selected. She says Emerge Louisiana’s program will take place one weekend each month for the next six months starting in January.

Oubre says after graduating, the women will be provided with a network of support locally and nationally. She says Emerge Louisiana brings in Louisiana based trainers to give the students future contacts.
