An LSU Public Policy Research Lab survey finds a majority of Louisiana residents support two of Governor John Bel Edwards’ major policy issues – criminal justice reform and Medicaid expansion. Of those surveyed, 61-percent say they support the sweeping changes made last year. LSU’s Dr. Mike Henderson says 69-percent of the respondents approve of Medicaid expansion, which took effect in June of 2016. Some 430-thousand Louisiana residents enrolled in the government funded health insurance. Henderson says those polled aren’t concerned about the costs…

Grambling State scored seven runs in the final inning of a seven inning contest to shock Arkansas Pine Bluff 10-9. Cameron Shannon’s bases loaded clearing double ended the game and earned the Tigers a hard fought split of a doubleheader.

The Ragin Cajuns swept Appalachian State in Boone, North Carolina to move to 8-7 in the Sun Belt. UL Lafayette has won five in a row. But the Cajuns couldn’t gain any ground on first place Little Rock as the Trojans swept ULM.

25th ranked Louisiana Tech ended a three-game losing streak by beating Charlotte 10-6. The Diamond Dogs scored six runs in the first inning, plenty for Logan Bailey who won his sixth game.

The Pelicans are up 1-0 in their playoff series with Portland after beating the Trail Blazers 97-95 on their home floor on Saturday night. New Orleans made life tough on Portland’s top scorer Damien Lilliard, who was just 6-of-23 from the field. Pels Coach Alvin Gentry says his guys bought into the game plan…

LSU Quarterbacks threw for a lot of yards in a scrimmage on Saturday that worked on third down situations. Myles Brennan led the way and threw for 415 yards.

At Louisiana Tech’s spring game, Willie Baker had a sack and a half, Cee Jay Powell caught 7 passes for 73 yards, but quarterback J’Mar Smith was just 13 of 34 for 113 yards and Westin Elliot threw two interceptions.

Nearly every one of the state’s D.A.’s were in attendance this morning as the panel debated the issue for two hours. Heated arguments between lawmakers and those in favor of the bill. The police officer who shot and killed Alton Sterling during a struggle has appealed his firing. Attorney John McLindon filed the appeal o a local civil service board on behalf of Blane Salamoni who shot Sterling nearly two years ago. McLindon says Salamoni wants to clear his name

The police officer who shot and killed Alton Sterling during a struggle has appealed his firing. Attorney John McLindon filed the appeal o a local civil service board on behalf of Blane Salamoni who shot Sterling nearly two years ago.

Baton Rouge Police Chief Murphy Paul said two weeks ago that Salamoni was fired because he violated policies on use of force and command of temper. By getting the termination thrown out, it opens up the opportunity for Salamoni to become a police officer again in another jurisdiction.  McLindon says he’s heard from police officers around the country that Salamoni’s firing was unjust

Sarah Mojoula testified on behalf of the Southern Poverty Law Center expressed support for the legislation, because it would make sure there wouldn’t be any misconduct.

The state has activated its Crisis Action Team, because of the threat of severe weather today and tomorrow. Northwest Louisiana is under a tornado watch until 10 PM tonight. GOHSEP spokesman Mike Steele says the eastern portion of the state could see as much as 6 inches between now and tomorrow night…

The LSU Tigers took advantage of good hitting conditions at Alex Box Stadium last night with the wind blowing out as the Bayou Bengals banged out four home runs in a 9-3 win over Tennessee. Jake Slaughter hit two home runs, Hunter Feduccia and Beau Jordan also hit balls that left the yard. Austin Bain had four hits and drove in three runs. Zach Hess allowed one run over seven innings for the victory.

The Ragin Cajuns fell behind 3-0 in the first inning but came back for a four to three win over Appalachian State. Daniel Lahare drove in two runs as UL Lafayette has won three straight.

ULM and Little Rock were postponed until today, so were Louisiana Tech and Charlotte and Northwestern State versus Southeastern Louisiana.

Nicholls and Incarnate Word were suspended in the 12th inning with the game tied at six, while McNeese edged UNO three to two. In the 8th inning, Carson Maxwell doubled home a run and then scored the go-ahead run by stealing home.
