The National Hurricane Center is watching the remnants of former Tropical Storm Harvey for possible re-development. State climatologist Barry Keim says most of the models have it forming into tropical storm again, possibly even a hurricane and making landfall between Corpus Christi and Galveston..:

A 7-year-old in Webster Parish who allegedly shot his aunt two times during an argument, can not by state law face charges in the incident. That’s according to Sheriff Gary Sexton who says a child under the age of 10 cannot form intent. Sexton says this was not an accident and he hopes this 7-year-old gets help…:

LSU is set to officially announce Mike VII during a welcome event this afternoon outside the Tiger Habitat. The first 250 students to arrive will get a commemorative Mike the Tiger s-shirt. We’re expected to hear from Mike’s vet, Dr. Baker, and other university officials. The 11-month-old tiger was introduced to the public in his new habitat Monday morning, the same day students returned to campus to begin the fall semester.

The Powerball jackpot, as it normally does when the numbers get this big, has reached $700 million dollars for tomorrow night’s drawing. That’s got a cash value of $443.3 million dollars, and is the second largest lottery jackpot in US history. The biggest was $1.6 billion in January 2016.

Today Governor John Bel Edwards is meeting with FEMA Administrator Brock Long in Louisiana to discuss the state’s ongoing recovery from the 2016 floods. During that time, Edwards, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu and state officials will talk about Louisiana’s preparations for potential flooding in the New Orleans area.

Mike VII’s former owners couldn’t be happier that the tiger has landed a home at LSU. Jeremy Hargett of the Wild at Heart Wildlife Center in Okeechobee, Florida says when Mike’s veterinarian came to visit him for the first time, Dr. Baker fell in love almost immediately…:

LSU’s new mascot, Mike VII, appears to be right at home and loving his new habitat on campus since being introduced Monday. Formerly Harvey, the tiger was donated to LSU by the Wild at Heart Wildlife Center in Okeechobee, Florida. Jeremy Hargett is the co-owner of the rescue facility. He says Harvey was originally bred as a “photo cub” to sell to zoos…:

The Shreveport Police Department says all suspects wanted in the rape case involving the rapper Mystikal are now in custody. His real name is Michael Tyler, 46 of Prairieville. He and another man are charged with one count of first degree rape stemming from the October 2016 incident. Tenichia Wafford surrendered yesterday on a one count of accessory after the fact to first degree rape charge.

Apparently the child has behavior problems and his mother had already given up custody.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Metairie is telling his colleagues that he will wait until his doctors give him the okay, before he returns to the Capitol. A spokesperson for the Republican lawmaker says Scalise was on a conference call with GOP legislators to discuss spending bills on Monday. Scalise was shot in June in the hip and is undergoing inpatient rehabilitation, after undergoing several surgeries.

Once again not surprisingly, Alabama is No. 1 on the AP preseason Top 25. LSU was ranked No. 13 in the poll, one spot lower than in the coaches survey published earlier this month. Rounding out the top five are Ohio State, then Florida State, USC and Clemson.

KSLA is reporting that Shreveport is being considered a finalist to be the home city of the New Orleans Pelicans affiliate for the NBA’s development league. The other finalist is Pensacola, Florida. Shreveport Mayor Ollie Tyler announced late Monday that she intends to move forward with a new $100 million dollar mixed use complex to be built in the north side of downtown.

The Sports Business Journal said Monday that Commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL are nearing a new five-year contract extension that would be good through 2024. The report indicates the deal would be similar to his current contract which expires in 2019.

It didn’t take long for Mike VII merchandise to hit the shelves. The new mascot at LSU was introduced Monday, and the gift shop next door to his habitat debuted a new line of products in honor of the 11-month-old Tiger. Mike VII arrived on campus last week and underwent nearly seven days of an indoor quarantine to make sure he was healthy. And with that clean bill of health, be becomes Mike VII.

Wildlife and Fisheries agents in Calcasieu Parish have arrested a man in the fatal boating incident Sunday that killed an 8-year-old boy. Agents say that 35-year-old Eddie Dunwoody of Texas was operating a 19-foot bass boat and was impaired when he crashed the vessel. A child occupant sustained fatal injuries in the crash.

Paula Farquhar (far-kwar) with the Shreveport Police Department says Tyler along with a 26-year-old Texas man have been charged with first degree rape. She says an investigation was launched into a sexual assault last year.

Authorities are still searching for 42-year-old Tenichia Wafford, of Texas, who is charged with one count of Accessory after the fact to first degree rape for allegedly trying to convince the victim to drop the charges against Mystikal. Farquhar says the public is making their own assumptions about the case involving the rapper and the victim.
