Southwest Louisiana will likely see the biggest impact, but the entire state will be affected, as we’re all under a flash flood watch through Thursday evening. Pre-sale for the relocated LSU-BYU game in the Mercedes Benz Superdome Saturday, including purchases made through the participating schools, begins today at 10am. Pre-Sale codes will be emailed to fans that purchased tickets from LSU to game originally scheduled for NRG Stadium, season ticket holders, and full time students. Sales will open to the general public at 4.

The Cajun Navy is working hard to assist Texas authorities with ongoing search and rescues. Governor John Bel Edwards says Louisiana was in the same position last year, and we all understand the importance of the Cajun navy and appreciate their help.

While volunteers work to rescue people in Texas, the North Louisiana Red Cross is giving them a place to stay once they are safe. Executive Director Michelle Davidson says the shelter at Morning Star Baptist Church will house up to 250 individuals.

Tropical Storm Harvey is expected to make a second landfall tomorrow in Cameron Parish. State climatologist Barry Keim says that means more rain is in the forecast for the Bayou State because the system is still moving very slowly.

Utility companies are gearing up to deal with potential power outages from the storm. Cleco spokesperson Jennifer Cahill says downed powerlines could be a problem. She reminds customers to stay safe and beware of rising waters.

Cameron Parish is bracing for impact as Tropical Storm Harvey makes a second landfall and treks north through the state. Office of Emergency Preparedness Director Danny Lavergne says the biggest threat from the storm will be the water, as the parish received about 30 inches of rain in just the last two days.

Lavergne says this is the longest time frame the parish has ever had to prepare for a storm. He says the parish filed an emergency declaration on August 23. He says officials are as prepared as they can be.

About 6,000 residents had to evacuate Cameron Parish. Governor John Bel Edwards says Louisiana is not out of the woods yet as the storm is expected to drop another 10 to 20 inches of rain across the Bayou State.

Edwards says more than 670 guardsmen are working on Harvey operations in the state. He says about 500 rescues have already been made in southwest Louisiana. He says flooded roadways are a concern.

A Lincoln Parish sheriff’s deputy is recovering and a suspect is dead following an officer-involved shooting on Highway 80 on Tuesday at noon. State Trooper Michael Reichardt says the fatal incident occurred after the unnamed deputy conducted a traffic stop.

Reichardt says the deputy was shot, but his bulletproof vest deflected the round. He says the deputy then returned fire on the suspect.

Simsboro High School was placed on lock down following the incident. Reichardt says state police will lead the investigation into the shooting, as there are still many unanswered questions.

Governor John Bel Edwards says the Cajun Navy’s work in Texas is receiving praise from local authorities. So how do they do it? Penny Shar with Project We Care Louisiana works in conjunction with the Cajun Navy 2016 and she says they use the Zello Smartphone App to communicate with nearby boats to help find stranded residents

Shar says they also have someone who has medical experience, like a doctor or nurse on a boat, in each area. She says it’s a very organized effort…

Shar says the Cajun Navy 2016 began rescue efforts in Humble, Texas and will continue to work until everyone who needs help is rescued. She says they also work closely with elected officials in Louisiana to organize efforts.

LSU running back Derius Guice says he’s fired up to play in the Mercedes Benz Superdome on Saturday night against BYU. Guice says this will be the second time he’s played in the iconic stadium. The first time was when he was 12-years-old, when he played a quick game during halftime of a Saints game. Guice says it’s great to start the season in Louisiana….

Governor John Bel Edwards said today that over the next 24 hours, southwest Louisiana will see an additional 10 to 24 inches. He says there is also the storm surge to be concerned about…:

Harvey is expected to make a landfall Wednesday morning along the Cameron coastline, near Cameron, with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph.

Cleco is preparing for Tropical Storm Harvey’s arrival in Louisiana as five of the energy company’s operation regions are in the path of the storm. Spokeswoman Jennifer Cahill says they are doubling the number of crews available to safely restore power…:

Cahill says downed power lines are the biggest possibility during Harvey because of falling trees and limbs.

LSU says fans who bought tickets for the season opener against BYU in Houston will have their money refunded automatically. Athletic Director Joe Alleva says those who had tickets, will get first priority to purchase tickets for the game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, then LSU season ticket holders, students followed by the general public.

She says as of now, the shelter is only intended to house storm victims for the short term.

Even as Tropical Storm Harvey continues to pound Texas and Louisiana, the rainfall from the system has already set a preliminary all-time lower 48 states record. A rain gauge in Harris County reported a four day storm total of 49.32 inches through 9am this morning.

Harvey has strengthened as it moves over the Gulf along the Texas coast. John Cangialosi with the National Hurricane Center says tropical storm force winds are likely, especially along the western and central Louisiana coast.

He says the Bayou State could see between 10 and 20 inches of rain in some areas. Harvey is currently forecast to make landfall near the Texas-Louisiana state line likely somewhere near Lake Charles late Wednesday morning.

Today marks 12 years since Hurricane Katrina made landfall in Louisiana, and Texans are facing a similar situation now with Harvey. State climatologist Barry Keim says both made landfall as a major hurricane, but Katrina reached Category 5 strength in the Gulf and weakened, while Harvey continued to strengthen until landfall. He says that worsened Katrina’s storm surge..:

He says Harvey has only moved about 100 miles since last Friday, dumping tons of rain on The Lone Star State and even more to come in Louisiana. The system is back in the Gulf of Mexico with a track that keeps sliding east meaning the Bayou State stays in the mix for tropical storm conditions through the rest of the week. Forecasters say Louisiana could see between 10 and 20 inches of rain in some areas, with higher amounts over western and central Louisiana. Flash Flood Watches remain in effect across much of the state for another several days.

South Louisiana remains under a flash flood watch through 7pm Thursday.

LSU is headed back to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. ESPN decided on Monday afternoon to move the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff between the Tigers and BYU from NRG Stadium to the Dome because of catastrophic rain and flooding in the Houston. Original ticket purchases through LSU will be refunded today, and the school says it will announce how you can buy tickets to Saturday’s game in the Dome soon.

The Cajun Navy 2016 is headed to Texas to help with ongoing flood rescue operations. Baton Rouge Congressman Garret Graves says the group will be able to hit the ground running once they reach the affected areas…:

The LSU season opener against BYU will be played in New Orleans in the Mercedes Benz Superdome, this Saturday night at 8:30pm. The game was set to be held in Houston, but has been moved due to the effects of Tropical Storm Harvey. LSU’s ticket office is working with AdvoCare Texas Kickoff officials to set up a structure for purchasing tickets to the game. They said tickets and parking passes originally purchased for NRG Stadium will be automatically refunded beginning today.

There are seven players on the LSU football team from the Houston area and it’s difficult time for them. Starting offensive tackle Toby Weathersby says his parents are okay living in a second floor apartment, but flood waters are threatening his grandparents home..:

LSU coach Ed Orgeron announced Monday a true freshman will start along LSU’s offensive line. Either Ed Ingram or Saahdiq Charles will be the Tigers right guard — a competition that has been a central storyline of camp since presumed starter Maea Teuhema left the program weeks ago.

And it’s official, All-American edge rusher Arden Key won’t play this weekend. Coach O said the junior is not yet fully recovered from having shoulder surgery in May. He also said running back Derrius Guice will be eased into pracitce this week, but didn’t say whether or not he’d start in the season opener.

The Saints have made a trade with the Eagles for long snapper Jon Dorenbos, according the Philadelphia team Twitter account. The Saints are sending the Eagles a 2019 7th round pick in exchange for Dorenbos.

The LHSAA has issued a penalty ruling violation for West Monroe High School. Coach Jerry Arledge is suspended for four games and the school fined $5000 and placed on administrative probation for one year for player tampering.

Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry says the months-long recovery of Solomon Hill will leave a big hole in their roster. Hill had surgery to repair a hamstring tear in his left leg. He said Monday that they are going to decide whether or not to bring back another player.
