There is a lot of concern circling the nation about dry conditions due to the destruction happening in California from wildfires. ULL Dean of Students Margarita Perez says more people are coming forward to report hazing and she hopes these students can find other ways to bond with the fraternity…:

In Gruver’s case, police reports indicate witnesses told authorities that the pledge, who had a .495 blood alcohol level at the time of death, was forced to drink more than other pledges because he kept messing up the Greek alphabet.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the death of an 8-month-old baby boy after being left in a car for a long period of time. A preliminary investigation determined that the child was unintentionally left inside the vehicle most of the day Wednesday.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation has received an additional 60-million-dollars from the federal government for highway projects. DOTD Secretary Shawn Wilson says as long as projects are ready to start, they get the matching funds…:

East Feliciana and East Baton Rouge Parish officials announce an arrest has been made in a string of recent drive by shootings which claimed the lives of 3 men and injured another. They say significant evidence was developed by a task force against 36-year-old Ryan Sharpe, and when in custody, the man confessed. Sharpe is charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.

Additional information about the death of Gruver came out later Wednesday. Ten current and former LSU students all turned themselves in on charges in connection with the suspected hazing incident. Police reports indicate witnesses told authorities that Gruver, who had a .495 blood alcohol level at the time of death, was forced to drink more than other pledges because he kept messing up the Greek alphabet. The one student additionally charged with negligent homicide, Matthew Naquin, also reportedly targeted Gruver because the pledge was often late to events.

In addition to the charges of battery of a dating partner, police say they found drugs for which Porter did not have a prescription.

An arrest has been made in a string of recent shootings in East Baton Rouge and East Feliciana Parish that killed 3 men and injured one. Authorities in Tangipahoa Parish are investigating the death of a a baby left inside a car. Detectives say an 8-month-old boy was unintentionally forgotten in a vehicle from around 8am Wednesday until he was discovered later that afternoon. The incident is under investigation.

ULL Dean of Students Margarita Perez says Theta Xi, Kappa Alpha Order, Sigma Nu and Sigma Alpha Epsilon are the suspended Greek organizations. She says after Gruver’s death, more students are willing to come forward and report hazing.

ULL suspended the four fraternities for an investigation but no word has been released on what occurred. Perez says universities and the national Greek organizations have always said they will not tolerate hazing but if they don’t see it, they don’t know about it. She says they are proponents of ‘see something, say something.’

During the summer, Kappa Sigma, was expelled from the UL-Lafayette campus. Perez says the four Greek organizations will remain on a pause and will not be allowed to conduct social activities or interactions until an investigation is complete. An initial autopsy report revealed that Gruver had THC, the chemical found in marijuana.  East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner Dr. Beau Clark won’t say if that was confirmed in his findings…

Sean Pennison is one of the ten LSU students arrested as part of the investigation into Max Gruver’s death. His Attorney Franz Borghardt says it’s extremely hard for these students as Max was their friend. He says Pennison is not being charged with Gruver’s death, only hazing.

If found guilty on the misdemeanor, Pennison and the others could serve up to 30 days in jail.

The CDC reports Louisiana had the second highest rate of HIV in 2016. Deputy Director for the Louisiana STD/HIV Program Chaquetta Johnson says they are aggressively tackling this epidemic. She says they have partnered with each office of public health and also with community and parish leaders to educate the public on these diseases.
