A 19-year-old Tibodaux woman who was shot last week has died.  Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre says Shantell Pollard was shot on October 31st.  When police arrived, they found Pollard in the passenger side of an SUV bleeding from a head wound and was unresponsive.  She was in critical condition after she was transferred to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge.  Police say the investigation is continuing.

Some 60 dogs and cats rescued from Hurricane Maria and relocated to Louisiana are looking for their new forever home.  Zeus’ Rescues in New Orleans is currently sheltering the animals.  Director Michelle Ingram says some of the animals are having a hard time adjusting to their new circumstances at their shelter.  She says foster families are needed to help these animals…

The first two days of early voting for the November 18 election shows numbers remain dismal with just under 26-thousand voters participating.  Secretary of State Tom Schedler says even though they are getting the word out to encourage voters, not many took the advice…

Schedler blames the turbulence in Washington D.C. as the main driving force behind voter apathy.  He says voters are just sick and tired of a system that seems dysfunctional…

Schedler says they have tried different programs to spur excitement to draw voters to the polls to make their opinion known.  Some are flat out refusing to go to the polls.  Schedler says in talking to some, they feel their ballot won’t make a difference…

Etling did not play well in the loss to Alabama as he missed on some throws down the field. Moran says Etling is still a leader on this team and benching him is not the right move at this point…

Back then he argued that this bill would keep parishioners safe in churches.  Burns says when the law went into effect in 2010, it required individuals to undergo eight hours of specialized training in order to have a concealed gun in a church and the interest was overwhelming…

Are there additional steps that churches need to take to ensure the safety of attendees?  Burns says installing metal detectors may be an extreme but necessary step…

For the first time since 2005, two state police cadet classes will run simultaneously.  Aspiring troopers have reported for the 97th cadet class with 49 individuals.  The 96th class has entered their 11th week of training. Sgt. Jared Sandifer says people across the state should be happy that many are still willing to join the ranks and help serve them…

A 67-year-old Baton Rouge woman missing since October 27th has been located in Biloxi and if safe and sound. The Biloxi Police Department says Linda Thompson was found in a house under construction. Authorities do not suspect any foul play.

Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser and 10 chefs are in New York City to promote Louisiana cuisine. Nungesser says during the three-day visit to the Big Apple the Louisiana chefs will be able to meet with writers, producers and editors who cover in food and travel.

A 43-year-old Minden woman is dead after losing control of her truck on Interstate 20 early this morning. State Police say Tammy Lair was not wearing her seat belt when exited the roadway, overturned and was ejected from the vehicle.

Now that Daylight Saving Time has ended, it’s getting darker earlier.  State Farm insurance wants to remind people to watch out for deer while driving.  State Farm Spokesman Kip Diggs says it’s important to drive with your high beams on as frequently as possible because the earlier you see a deer, the more time you have to avoid a crash. He reminds motorists that they also travel in packs.

Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser and 10 Louisiana chefs are in New York City to prepare the Bayou State’s world-class food and give the Big Apple a taste of what we have to offer. Nungesser says 60 interviews will be conducted with the chefs to talk about all things Louisiana, as they are from every corner of the state.

Officers say a three-year-old toddler has died as the result of an alleged accidental shooting in St. Martin Parish.  Police have arrested the uncle 28-year-old Dracolby Numa Journet of Arnaudville.  He has been charged with Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Obstruction of Justice.  Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Major Ginny Higgins says this is a tragic situation, not only for the family, but also for responding deputies…:

A 67-year-old grandmother is dead in Plaquemine after her grandson allegedly shot her by mistake.  Police say 19-year-old Blaise Horton reported he was holding a gun in a house when Kathleen Fulton was killed.  Police Chief Kenny Payne says the bullet grazed a dog and struck Fulton in the back.  He says Horton’s sister was in the home at the time and evidence at the scene matches up with the story Horton and the sister told officers…:

On the one hand, the Tigers are huge underdogs headed into Bryant-Denny Stadium, but the matchup between The Bayou Bengals and Crimson Tide has been a wild ride in recent years. These fans bleed purple and gold and would never say LSU can’t beat Alabama…:

The senate approved a 23 month contract extension Friday for the state’s Medicaid managed-care companies unanimously, but House members voted against it, blocking the Governor’s efforts to help extend high-dollar contracts for managed-care companies beyond January.  House Appropriations Committee chairman Cameron Henry expects more meetings next month to find savings in the proposed 15.4-billion-dollar deal.

A shooting in St. Tammany Parish leaves one person dead and four others injured.  Police say the shooting occurred at a home, but police are withholding the exact address pending an investigation.

A fire at LSU injures three electrical workers Friday morning.  The fire broke out around 930am at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center.  The building remained closed the rest of the day due to a loss of power.
