State Police Major Doug Cain says the troopers were allegedly caught on film writing a full shift worth of tickets in a shorter amount of time than they reported. More than half of LSU’s 27 fraternities are in some kind of trouble for violating policy both before and after the death of LSU pledge Max Gruver. The punishments range from suspensions, being kicked off campus, on probation or letter of reprimand. The latest is an LSU letter sent to Alpha Gamma Rho saying they must stop all charter events because of an incident, “not in compliance with university policies.”

A state law approved seven years ago allows persons to possess guns inside a place of worship, under strict conditions. The person must be approved by the church leader, the congregation is made aware and persons must receive specialized training. State Police say a 27-year-old woman from Franklin has been arrested after causing a crash that claimed the life of a 2-year-old child who was ejected. They say Grace Loustaloot ran off the road on LA 83 last night, entered a ditch and overturned. The toddler was not properly restrained and died. Impairment is suspected, and Loustaloot’s charges include vehicular homicide.

Two people were injured and dozens have been evacuated off of a Shell platform about 115 miles of the Louisiana coast, according to the U.S. Coast Guard. Petty Officer Lexie Preston says a 54-year-old male suffered from flash burns and a concussion and a 29-year-old male suffered a sprained wrist and a concussion.

Preston says the fire has been reduced to a small flame and a light sheen is reported north of the platform.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly attacking a woman who tried to help him as he was lying in a ditch near Oak Grove. West Carroll Parish Sheriff Jerry Philley says the victim saw Christian Turnbow on the side of the road as she was driving her kids to school. He says police arrived after one of her children called 911 to report the attack.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

 

The SARC of Sabine Workforce building in Many has been destroyed by a fire. State Fire Marshal Butch Browning says this is a great loss to the community as the facility helps developmentally disabled individuals find jobs. He says they are looking for a place for them to relocate.

He says the alleged arsonist is an active participant in some of the programs at the center and is in custody.

Rayville Police arrested a 14-year-old twice yesterday after allegedly bringing a handgun and rifle ammunition to school. Police Chief Willie Robinson says the teen was originally charged for possession of the ammo and released to his grandparents but then they got word of a handgun still at school. He says the teen was picked up again and gave police an excuse.

The US Coast Guard says the fire on the Shell platform in the Gulf has been reduced to a small flame. They say a 54-year-old male suffered from flash burns and a concussion, and a 29-year-old male suffered a sprained wrist and a concussion. 46 workers were evacuated to a nearby platform. A light sheen is reported north of the platform.

A Covington woman is under arrest after cops busted her lying about an NFL referee; saying he was abusing her. Lt. Brennan Matherne with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says 49-year-old Sandra Brooks’ charges include defamation because she also filed a report with the NFL against the victim. Matherne says they take domestic abuse seriously but it is never acceptable to falsely report these incidents…:
