Four Baton Rouge police officers have been placed on paid administrative leave following allegations of possible payroll fraud.  A source told WAFB TV that they include two sergeants.  The information comes on the heels of similar allegations involving the Louisiana State Police concerning three troopers.

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, a member of the Senate Finance Committee, supports the Senate’s GOP tax plan which was unveiled on Thursday. Cassidy says the proposed legislation would help families and help businesses grow by cutting taxes and simplifying the tax code. Two elderly people were killed after a logging truck struck their vehicle in Beauregard Parish Thursday. The driver of the log truck is 68-year-old Charles Davis of DeRidder. Davis was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.  State Police Sgt. James Anderson says everyone was wearing their seatbelts, but due to the magnitude of this accident, the safety measure did not help…

A jury in Rapides Parish found 17-year-old Donasty Cohen guilty of manslaughter in the death of her 27-day-old baby. District Attorney Phillip Terrell says the infant’s father, 17-year-old Kenneth Anderson, is currently in jail awaiting trial. He says Cohen will be sentenced on December 4th.

The coroner ruled 27-day-old Ashtyn’s death a homicide due to blunt force trauma to his body and head. Terrell says both parents were 16-years-old when the crime happened in 2015. He says Cohen was showed little emotion….

The proposed legislation would help families and encourage corporations to establish businesses by cutting taxes and simplifying the tax code. Under the reform plan, a family of four would see a tax cut of over 14-hundred-dollars. Cassidy says this plan would assist families far into the future.

Tomorrow is the last day to early vote for the November 18th election, as polls are closed today in observance of Veteran’s Day. Secretary of State Tom Schedler predicts a low turnout again for this runoff election. But he says about 69-percent of voters in Louisiana did get out to the polls last year in the presidential election, higher than the national average.

Eight distinguished LSU alumni will be inducted into the LSU Military Hall of Honor during LSU Salutes 2017 this afternoon. Governor John Bel Edwards is among the inductees.

Beloved former Miss Louisiana Barbara Rivers of Monroe died has died after a short illness. She was 83. Rivers won the 1952 Miss Louisiana title as Barbara Barker and finished in the Top 10 of the Miss America pageant.
