A rideshare driver for Lyft has been arrest and accused of kidnapping and raping an intoxicated passenger in Jefferson Parish.  Authorities say 30 year old Yousef Hamed picked up the victim from a bar and instead of taking her to her home, he then took her to his home in Harvey and raped the woman.

Hamed is still behind bars as of Thursday in lieu of a $400,000 bond.

It’s the end of the NBA trade deadline and Anthony Davis is still a Pelican despite reports of a furious push from the Los Angeles Lakers to get him paired with Lebron James this season. Reports indicate the Boston Celtics informed the Pels that they were best to wait until summer, when the green could offer them a better deal.

While Davis remains a Pelican, his front court partner in crime Nicola Mirotic has been sent packing to the frigid north. The Milwaukee Bucks sent the Pels old favorite, Center Jason Smith, along with 8^th overall pick in the 2015 draft forward Stanley Johnson, and four second round picks.

The Pels are in full on yard sale mode now as they transition out of an era defined by the uni-browed paint wrecking forward. A wanted criminal from Arkansas is now behind bars in Caddo Parish after a threatening to beat a man with a bat, shooting a moving car, crashing into that car, and later leading a high speed chase after the law finally caught up to him. Sherriff’s spokesperson Cindy Chadwick says the busy Tuesday began when 33-year-old James Shultz threatened a neighbor with a bat, then later encountered him on the road.

Police later caught up Shultz that afternoon where he led them on a high speed chase where he wrecked his car, stole another car, wrecked that one, and was ultimately apprehended.

Music’s biggest night takes place this weekend as the 61^st GRAMMY Awards takes place in Los Angeles.  Many Louisiana artists have been nominated throughout the years and this year is no different.  Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser says Louisiana has teamed up with Memphis and Mississippi to highlight artists from the region in an event tonight in LA known as “The Night on the River”

The event takes place tonight at the Clive Davis theatre at the GRAMMY Museum and will feature entertainment from various Louisiana performers.  Nungesser says in total, Bayou State artists have 12 nominations this year from various cities across the state.

Nungesser says the word GRAMMY originated from Louisiana.

Chadwick says police anticipated his path and set up just ahead of him with a classic technique for stopping vehicles on a rampage.

Afterwards Shultz hopped out, and led deputies on a foot chase through a nearby forest until he was ultimately apprehended. Shultz faces a litany of charges as a result.

Biodegradable Mardi Gras beads are currently in the works following a grant received from the LSU board of supervisors last summer.  LSU biologist Dr. Naohiro Kato says initially when factoring in all of the costs, it appears at first the beads could cost initially around $13 a strain, but they are looking to bring the price down as it is estimated that four to five million beads are tossed each carnival season.

There have been over 600 wrecks in construction zones on I-10 between Lafayette and Baton Rouge since the beginning of construction in the area in May of 2017.  DOTD spokesperson Rodney Mallett says a large share of the responsibility for the high frequency falls onto drivers who are speeding and/or driving distracted.

New Orleans Saints defender David Onyemata was given a misdemeanor citation by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s accusing him of illegally possessing marijuana in his Elmwood apartment.  Investigators obtained a search warrant and found marijuana, cannabis oil, marijuana edibles and hemp powder the Tuesday of the search. Onyemata, was cooperative with investigators and received a summons to appear in court at a later date.
