Nearly 600 orphaned wells have been plugged so far this year. That’s thanks to money from the federal government and the U-S Fish and Wildlife Service. Governor John Bel Edwards says those wells can leak methane and contribute to global warming. (:12) Cut 12 (10) “…doing this”

Four Baton Rouge Police officers including the Deputy Chief have been arrested following an investigation into physical abuse and misconduct in the arrest of a man two years ago. Chief Murphy Paul says officers used tasers and one officer struck the man during a strip search. (:14)

The chief says corruption and misconduct will not be tolerated in his department and anyone involved will face prosecution. :(:07)

It’s a top 20 matchup tonight between 13th-ranked LSU and number-20 Ole Miss. LSU’s defense has had trouble stopping teams on third down. But Coach Brian Kelly says they’ve been focused on fundamentals (:12)

Four Baton Rouge Police officers including a top official have been arrested following an investigation into physical abuse and misconduct of officers involving a man arrested two years ago. Chief Murphy Paul says a supervisor saw the footage and determined that the officers were in violation of the department’s use of excessive force policy and decided to destroy the evidence.

The Saints released veteran receiver Tre’Quan Smith on Tuesday afternoon. Smith had been with the Black and Gold since they drafted him in the 3rd round in the 2018 draft, but has had trouble staying healthy as the receiver has spent time in the Saints injury reserve almost every year. Head coach Dennis Allen says that the move gives Smith the opportunity to play for someone else and says that he still feels good about the group of guys in their receiving core.

Five major candidates for governor will participate tonight in a televised debate on Louisiana Public Broadcasting. The frontrunner, Republican Jeff Landry will not participate. Landry will attend a “meet and greet” in Lake Charles to raise campaign money.

The active burn ban order re-issued on August 25th which prohibits all private burning is being modified. The new modified order will allow parishes to opt out of the statewide burn ban. State Fire Marshal spokesperson Ashley Rodrigue says even if your parish decides to opt out of the burn ban continue to keep safety first. And for those parishes that remain under the state burn ban…

The Saints find themselves in an unpredictable situation as the second-worst fourth quarter in their history has the team 2 and 1 instead of 3 and 0. The October 14th election is approaching and Louisiana voters will have four constitutional amendments on the ballot. Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana President Steven Procopio says Amendment 1 would ban the use of monetary donations from a nongovernmental or foreign source to administer elections.

Procopio says Amendment 1 is another attempt to solidify that those types of organizations cannot donate to help administer elections. Early voting begins Saturday.

Former Louisiana Automobile Dealers Association President, Will Green has been appointed as the new head of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry. Green says he’s eager to work with lawmakers to pass legislation that is pro-business.

Green worked at LABI from 2014 to 2016 as their director for civil justice reform and employee relations.

Tangipahoa Sheriff Deputies say 19-year-old Johnathan Kliebert (clay-bear) fatally shot his mother and her dog while they slept on Tuesday. 46-year-old Ashley Kliebert was found dead in the master bedroom with a gunshot wound to her head. The dog was also found shot near her. Authorities say Johnathan Kliebert told investigators he awoke in an angry state and killed his mother and her dog. Johnathan was charged with first-degree murder and other offenses.

A driver hauling a trailer full of pigs lost all of the animals when the gate on the trailer came loose and the pigs fell out. Authorities say 30 dead pigs were scattered along the westbound side Mississippi River Bridge after the animals fell off the back of the truck and were hit by drivers. It’s unknown if the driver who lost its load was located.
