Former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon when his wife found him unresponsive. Edwards’ biographer Leo Honeycutt tells us that it appears the former governor was suffering from low blood sugar and is in much better condition now. Honeycut attended an event two weeks ago with Edwards and he took questions from the audience and says it’s hard to believe the former governor is in his 9th decade.

The NTSBs initial report into last month’s plane crash that killed New Orleans news anchor Nancy Parker and pilot Franklin Augustus,  confirms Augustus requested to return to the airport shortly after takeoff but did not specify why. The report says the aircraft’s historical maintenance logs noted “no deficiencies.”

Honeycutt says they are waiting for the former governor to see his cardiologist and they will know more once they’ve run more tests. Edwards in 92 years old.

A week ago Monday administrators and the Deputy School resource officer at Bolton High School in Rapides Parish were alerted of a student who was believed to be in possession of a gun. When they arrived they found a semi-automatic pistol on the student. The student is charged with carrying a firearm on school property and is being detained at the Renaissance Home for Youth in Alexandria.

The Treasurer’s Office unveils a new transparency tool that lets Louisianans track government spending. Treasurer John Schroder says users can measure the state’s bond, general liability, and pension debt levels. Schroder says you can also measure how much each citizen would have to pay to clear the debt.

The top recipients of the state’s three billion dollar transportation budget in 2019 are DOTD at 50 percent, followed by coastal protection at 17 percent, and education at 16 percent.

One of the men booked, 36-year-old Trinity Coleman of Franklin, is a suspect in the murder of a female in Franklin. Trooper Derek Senegal says while pursuing Coleman yesterday,  57-year-old Clarence Fine of Jeanerette pulled off the side of the road and started shooting at Coleman

A 16-year-old girl Lafayette girl dies from a gunshot wound in an apparent accidental discharge. Two days ago officers responded to a report of a shooting involving a juvenile who passed away yesterday at a local hospital. Lafayette Police Corporal Bridgette Dugas says police questioned the boy at the residence and discovered the incident may have been a tragic accident.

The boy is facing Negligent Homicide charges.

Trooper Derek Senegal says Coleman is a suspect in the murder of a Franklin woman and Fine had some sort of a relationship victim and apparently was out for revenge

LSU studied the weather effects of Hurricane Maria on Puerto Rico and found temperatures increased two degrees on average after landfall. It might not sound like much, but it can add up. LSU Coastal Sciences Professor Paul Miller says back in May the National Weather Service issued heat advisories for the Florida panhandle, which continues to recover from Hurricane Michael last year.

Deputy Director of the governor’s office of homeland security and emergency preparedness, Casey Tingle says Over one-hundred Louisiana Urban Search and Rescue personnel and assets left Baton Rouge yesterday, bringing with them boats to conduct high water rescues. Tingle says these units are made up of firefighters from around the state…
