Louisiana State Parks end the 3-night minimum stay for weekday stays at campgrounds and cabins. The change starts December 9th. State Parks Director Brandon Burris expects an increase in reservations, adding that in some of the less-populated areas, ta state park is the only available overnight accommodations.

New Orleans Saints Offensive tackle Terron Armstead was taken out of the game due to an upper ankle sprain. The injury is leading to expectations that Armstead will likely miss Saints on-the-field action for the next several weeks. But the good news for Saints fans is that with San Francisco Chargers beating Green Bay Packers last night, the Saints now have the number two seed in the NFC playoffs.

With the Thanksgiving holiday coming this Thursday, drivers need to be aware of the Click or Ticket campaign that will run this week. State Police Lt. Nick Manale says state troopers and local law enforcement will be on the lookout to see if drivers are buckled up…

Eight Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicle offices reopened today after the recent attempted ransom ware attack of state government computer systems. The list of OMV offices returning to serving the public includes locations in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, Lafayette, Monroe, Alexandria, Lake Charles, and Thibodeaux. LSP notes that fingerprinting, background checks, and that concealed handgun permits offices will not be open to the public at this time.

The Click it or Ticket campaign kicks off today for Thanksgiving week. Connor Ferrill has the story.

Users of the Windows 7 Operating Systems should know that beginning on January 14th of next year MicroSoft will no longer be offer patches or updates for Windows OS 7.

Tech Gumbo host Hagai (HAG-EE) Davis says almost a third of all computers in circulation still run Windows 7, and a lot of those folks are in serious danger of being hit by malware that’s sat dormant on their computer.

Davis says when Windows discontinued XP in 2013, users saw a massive spike in malware attacks the day after it dropped support.

If sweet potatoes are part of your Thanksgiving menu, shoppers in Louisiana can expect some savings in their holiday meal budgets. Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation spokesperson Avery Davidson says for three pounds of sweet potatoes, Louisiana residents can expect to spend about $1.43 compared to just over $3 around the rest of the country.

Today only 8 regional offices of O-M-V and Public Tags will open after they were closed last week from cyberattack on state computers. The Office of Motor Vehicles is asking the public to only conduct time-sensitive business. Regional offices in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Shreveport, Lake Charles, Alexandria, Monroe, Lafayette, and Thibodaux will open today. State Police are asked to used discretion issuing citations for expired licenses and tags.

Oil and gas rigs receive approval from the Trump Administration to operate at reduced royalty or royalty-free rates in new shallow waters in the Gulf of Mexico. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement Director Scott Angelle says revitalizing shallow water drilling would reinvigorate coastal communities like Morgan City, Houma, New Iberia, Terrebonne, and Lafourche.

If you’re still using Windows 7 the clock is ticking, beginning January 14th Windows will no longer offer patches and updates for their Windows 7 operating system. Tech Gumbo host Hagai Davis says that’s a concern because users can be vulnerable to attacks. However, Windows offers a free upgrade to Windows 10 for Windows 7 and 8 users. Davis says it’s something that can be taken care of pretty quickly.

Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement Director Scott Angelle says lowering or eliminating the royalties in shallow water zones will allow companies to tap into a significant amount of untapped oil and gas.

In Avoyelles Parish two people are dead and two injured after a shooting early Sunday morning near the Community of Cottonport. The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office says the shooting happened around 2 a.m. Sunday on Hwy. 29 at a club known as The New Beginnings. When APSO arrived at the scene, one man was dead, another was shot and driven to a hospital where he later died.

Rig activity is expected to increase over the next year, but Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement Director Scott Angelle says that’s only in deep water areas.

The scope of Monday’s ransomware attack is starting to come into focus as details about just how many devices had to be wiped were shared at Friday’s Joint Budget Committee meeting. Deputy Chief Information Officer Neal Underwood says no personal data was compromised, but a lot of devices had to be wiped.

Senator John Kennedy is demanding VH1 cancel Cartel Crew, a new series that follows the lives of family members and friends of drug cartel leaders. The series new addition is the wife of the imprisoned El Chapo, kingpin of the Sinaloa Cartel which has been linked to tens of thousands of murders. Kennedy says that’s unacceptable.

Deputy Chief Information Officer Neal Underwood says the state’s newer PCs fared well, but many of the older members of the fleet that were effected have taken longer to get back up and running.
