48-year old Tammy Dabney, 27-year old Rodneka Dabney, and 46-year old Erica Dabney have all been charged in the assault of a Baton Rouge Chili’s employee that was caught on camera. The incident allegedly began when the victim, 17-year old Kelsy Wallace asked the group the women were a part of to follow social distancing requirements. Baton Rouge Police Sgt Don Coppola says the young girl had to be treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

Governor Edwards says once flu shots are available folks need to line up and get one or our healthcare capacity could be pushed to its limits in the upcoming fall season due to COVID-19.

The state is receiving another $205 million in BP oil spill money for a variety of projects to help recover from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster. Executive Director of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority Bren Haase says $176 million will be used to build marshland in the upper Barataria Basin

$25 million will be put toward oyster-related projects, and five million towards injured marine mammal response.

Mardi Gras Guide publisher Arthur Hardy says there’s a lot of pessimism over the fate of 2021 parades, but while those may be up in the air he says it appears that Mardi Gras balls will likely be suspended.

Three women have been arrested in connection with the assault of a Baton Rouge Chili’s hostess.

Governor Edwards pleads with residents to get a flu vaccination this year to preserve medical capacity for fall COVID patients. Edwards says this year’s vaccination is not yet available, but when it is, you’ll hear about it.

The fate of New Orleans Mardi Gras parades in 2021 is still up in the air after krewes met last night and came to no definitive decision on the matter. The heart of the season is set for early-mid February next year, but there’s no indication a vaccine will be widely available by then. Mardi Gras Guide publisher Arthur Hardy says there’s been some suggestions addressing that problem…

Louisiana scores another 205 million dollars from BP oil spill money to help address coastal land loss and ecological issues.  Executive Director of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority Bren Haase says over $25 million will be put toward oyster-related projects, including the construction of two brood reefs in St. Bernard Parish. The reefs will be closed to harvesting, but are located near open harvesting areas.

Baton Rouge Police have arrested three women in connection with the assault of a Chili’s hostess.   Baton Rouge Police Sgt Don Coppola says it was public that stepped up and helped with the investigation.

US District Judge Martin Feldman is set to hear arguments in New Orleans today from 22 southeast Louisiana bar owners, attempting to stop enforcement of bar closures. Legal analyst Tim Meche says the owners could be looking for success in finding the order unconstitutional when it closes down certain businesses while letting others operate.

The new 300 dollar federally enhanced weekly unemployment benefits will be available for jobless individuals in the next few weeks and will be retroactive to August 1st. Governor Edward says the Louisiana Workforce Commission is working to make sure its distribution system is ready for the change from the former 600 dollar payments funded directly by Congress.

Deputy Chief of Staff for the Trump Administration and member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force Dr. John Fleming is optimistic a COVID-19 vaccine could be approved in a couple of months. The former Congressman says several different vaccines could get FDA approval.

Grambling State University reports an on-campus shooting Thursday night. GSU President Rick Gallot (Gallo) says the incident appears to be tied to an off-campus fight and students were not involved. Gallot says there is a video circulating on social media of a fight, but it has not been verified and that it is related to the GSU shooting, the incident remains under investigation.

LSU students will begin the first of ten days of move-in for on-campus residents Saturday. Matt Doyle has the story.

Commissioner Tom Burnett says the plan is to play a conference schedule in 2021

42-year-old Curtis Carroll of Tallulah has been arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder related to a woman whose body was found in rural Madison Parish. The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Pamela Oliver of Tallulah, who is believed to have been Carroll’s girlfriend. Master State Police Trooper Michael Reichardt says helping rural parishes solve serious crimes is a big part of what LSP does.
