Sabine Parish authorities say a 10-month-old girl is recovering at a local hospital after spending up to three days trapped under her father’s dead body. Officials believe the child’s father, 43-year-old Jason Fields of Pleasant Hill, who had a history of cardiac problems, fell backward off of his bed and died instantly, falling on top of his daughter. They say little Betty Jean Fields was found dehydrated and with blistering skin.

The LSU Tigers finally have their first SEC win of the season and it wasn’t easy. LSU and Florida went back-and-forth in a crazy fourth quarter on Saturday in Gainesville, but it was the Tigers who came out on top 30-27. Coach Les Miles says the victory shows what these Tigers can accomplish…

The big offensive star for the Tigers was freshman running back Leonard Fournette. He rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns.

Saints tight end Jimmy Graham will likely miss the next two games due to the shoulder injury suffered against Tampa Bay on October 5th. Graham will reportedly miss between two to three weeks of action.

Yesterday in the NFC South, Atlanta fell to Chigaco 27-13, Baltimore crushed Tampa Bay 48-17, and Carolina and Cincinnati tied at 37.

Grambling State and Southeastern Louisiana are still undefeated in conference play. Grambling moved to 4-0 in the SWAC with a 28-21 win over Alcorn State. Tigers Quarterback Jonathan Williams threw for 222 yards and one touchdown. The junior from Tampa also rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns.

Southeastern Louisiana moved to 3-0 in the Southland with a 61-34 win over Lamar. The Lions rushed for a school record 484 yards. Lions QB Bryan Bennett rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns. McNeese State fell to 1-and-1 in the league as they lost to Sam Houston State 38-22. The Cowboys got behind 35-7 and they threw for only 89 yards.

Northwestern state is also 1-1 in the Southland as the Demons defeated Incarnate Word 49-12. Zach Adkins threw four touchdown passes in the 2nd quarter and Garrett Atzenweiler rushed for 146 yards.

And Nicholls State is still winless after a 42-20 loss to Stephen F Austin. That’s 13 straight loss, but the Colonels had a season-high 381 yards.

A sergeant with the Louisiana State Police faces charges of DWI and hit and run, after causing a crash on Interstate 10 early Saturday morning. State Police Captain Doug Cain says 34-year-old Damien Dyson Sr of Baton Rouge was heading west on I-10 in Ascension Parish, when he struck the rear of another vehicle at a high rate of speed. Cain says Dyson kept going, but eventually pulled over and State Police responded to the scene

The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office says an 8-year-old boy has died following the accidental discharge of a revolver by his older brother. Authorities say Nathan Majors was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Eunice Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a woman who robbed the State Bank and Trust with a fake bomb Thursday afternoon. Surveillance video showed a middle-aged woman with a baseball cap also produced a gun and got away with an undisclosed amount of money. State Police Bomb Squad arrived and determined the package she left at the scene was not a bomb. It was the second fake bomb robbery in about year in Eunice.

An Ascension grand jury will not be indicting the driver of an SUV, who ran off the road in Ascension Parish and killed two children fishing with their father in June. State Police said at the time they would not charge the driver-Shanette Taylor, and today, the grand jury unanimously agreed. Daylon and Sarai Lanus died as a result of that crash.

The price at the pump has been nice lately and it looks to get even better. American Automobile Association fuel analyst Don Redman says we could see prices back to the 2010 level this month when the average price for a gallon of regular was $2.68. We’re currently just below $3.10. Wall Street had what some say was their worst day of the year Thursday and Redman says the economy and fuel prices go hand and glove…:

Governor Bobby Jindal announced today a new project with Castleton Commodities International LLC that would make a $1.2 billion capital investment to develop a new methanol manufacturing plant along the Mississippi River in Plaquemines Parish south of New Orleans. The project will create 50 new direct jobs with an annual salary of about $72,000 plus benefits. CCI anticipates beginning construction in 2016.

Parishes across the Acadiana region have some of the highest colon cancer rates in the nation according to researchers at LSU Health. The study was led by Doctor Jordan Karlitz who says colorectal cancer rates are also high in families with a Cajun ancestry, which raises the possibility of a genetic predisposition. But he says more research is needed.:

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s office says two high school students are under arrest for allegedly taking part in the beating of a man from Schriever. They say the victim reported the teens came to his house saying they were going to fight his son because his son wouldn’t give up his seat on the school bus for the suspects. The victim suffered a broken jaw, multiple facial stitches and two seizures as a result of the attack. 17-year-old Charles Norman and 18-year-old Mark Cheatham are accused.

Louisianians are enjoying super low prices at the pump these days and analysts say you can expect to pay even less as the year goes on. Friday the current statewide average for a gallon of regular gas is $3.09 down two cents from the night before. Don Redman with the American Automobile Association says summer’s over and demand is down…:

Police in Eunice are looking for a woman who robbed the State Bank and Trust with a fake bomb 4:30 pm Thursday. Cops say the burglar was wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap and placed a package she claimed was a bomb on the floor and told everyone it would explode if it was moved. LSP determined the package was not a bomb and they are asking the public’s help identifying the suspect.
