There have been two bodies found in Lake Pontchartrain this morning and authorities believe they were onboard a plane that crashed into the lake last week. New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, Colonel Jerry Sneed, says there’s no official ID, but it appears the victims are flight instructor Burt Lattimore of Chalmette and his student Aftab Rab of Mandeville…

USA Today released its annual report on college football coaches today, and LSU Head Coach Les Miles is the 7th highest paid coach with an annual four-point three million dollars. Alabama Head coach Nick Saban is the highest paid with an annual salary of seven-point-one million.

Louisiana State Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed this morning around 1am in Lafourche Parish. They say a GMC Sierra was traveling on LA 316 in Houma when it hit 29-year-old Tyler Authement (Oh-De-Mah) who was walking in the same lane. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Impairment is not suspected on the part of the driver of the Sierra and no charges have been filed at this time.

Record temperatures were recorded throughout southeast Louisiana over night. Baton Rouge hit 27 degrees which broke the previous record of 28 degrees back in 1930. Andrew Ansorge (An-Sore-Gy) with the National Weather Service says the high pressure that settled the cold air in last night is going to start to move off to the east today..:

Louisiana State Police say a Coushatta woman who wasn’t buckled up died in a crash last night in Red River Parish. They say 44-year-old Salley Giddens was hit from behind when she was stopped waiting to turn into a private drive on Highway 71. Her car was thrown into the opposite lane of traffic and hit by a truck. LSP says Giddens wasn’t restrained and suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

Farm Sanctuary and the Animal Welfare Institute have listed the Pilgrims Pride plant in Natchitoches as one of the nine worst chicken plants in the nation for animal cruelty. Farm Sanctuary director of policy, Bruce Friedrich (FREED-rick), says, for one, they found Pilgrims was allowing animals to freeze to death because of bad weather protocol. The plant said in a statement corrective actions are being taken but Friedrich says that doesn’t cut it…:

He says the high pressure that brought the cold in is moving off to the east today and south winds will bring in moisture and more severe weather is expected to move through the state this weekend.

The Pilgrims Pride plant in Natchitoches is listed as one of the nine worst chicken plants in the nation for animal cruelty. The list was compiled in part by Farm Sanctuary and policy director Bruce Friedrich (FREED-rick) says they got plant violation information from the federal government through the Freedom of Information Act…:

He says violations include workers throwing chickens in the same bags as dead birds.

The Baton Rouge Police Department has made two arrests in connection with the death of a West St. John High School Football Coach. They say 25-year-old Lentrell Cloud is charged with second degree murder for allegeldy shooting 27-year-old Juan Joseph outside of a nightclub in Baton Rouge over the weekend. The other man arrested was 25-year-old Lemark Cloud who is accused of being the getaway driver. The two suspects are cousins.

The US Small Business Administration has approved Governor Bobby Jindal’s request for federal disaster assistance in Ouachita Parish following the tornadoes last month.
