Republican Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming told NBC’s “Meet the Press” that speaking to that group was a “grave mistake” for Scalise, but that’s not an indication of who he is…

An overnight shooting at a nightclub in Lake Charles has left a Lafayette man dead. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Deputies got the call from Club Vibe around 12:40 this morning. Thirty-four year-old Kenneth Joseph Brown was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. That investigation continues.

Junior Galette, and outside linebacker for the New Orleans Saints, was arrested this morning by the Kenner Police Department and charged with simple battery domestic violence. Police say Galette is accused of pushing a woman to the ground at his home. Galette says the woman is a dancer, while the victim claims she lives with him, handling the cooking and cleaning. Police say the woman has injuries that include blood coming from her ear and scratches on her face.

The Alexandria Police Department says a man is under arrest on negligent homicide charges for allegedly accidentally shooting and killing someone. They believe 29-year-old Kendall Smith was playing with the weapon when it discharged and struck a 29-year-old male victim who is not being identified at this time. The incident remains under investigation.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s office says a man was fatally shot outside of the nightspot called Club Vibe. They say 34-year-old Kenneth Brown of Lafayette was found sitting inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. There is no motive or suspect at this time.

With a new Congress set to swear-in tomorrow that puts a wrap on Mary Landrieu’s last day as a U-S Senator. Landrieu has served Louisiana in the Senate the last 18 years and LSU Political Science Professor Robert Hogan says she’ll be remembered for her work to bring federal resources to the Bayou State…:

A cold week is on tap for Louisiana as artic air makes it way into the Bayou State. Tim Humphrey, with the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, says high temps will only be in the 40s for north Louisiana today and 50s in south Louisiana and even more colder air will arrive Wednesday…:

He says this cold air mass is coming down from Canada and will be dry so precipitation is not likely.

It’s being reported that New Orleans Saints outside linebacker Junior Galette was arrested in Kenner today for an incident that is not being disclosed at this time. Cops say Galette was in custody but the arresting officer is being consulted before any other details are released.

A Shreveport man has been arrested in connection with a shooting last night that sent two men to the hospital. Shreveport Police say their investigation indicates 36-year-old Nicholas King approached the victims and fired several shots, striking them both. Both victims taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. King was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on charges of simple battery and illegal use of a weapon.

State Police say a three-vehicle accident in Terrebonne Parish has claimed the life of a Thibodaux man. They say the vehicle driven by 34-year-old Chad Labat, for unknown reasons, crossed the center line and struck another vehicle. The impact caused the vehicle driven by Labat to be split into three pieces. One of those pieces struck a third vehicle. Labat was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the other two vehicles were taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

The state department of health and hospitals is encouraging businesses to help employees live a healthy lifestyle by coming up with healthy programs and policies at the workplace. D-H-H Well-Ahead Director Melissa Martin says providing healthier snacks during meetings can actually provide a more productive workforce…
