ULM has regained the SunBelt Conference lead after defeating Georgia Southern 71-68. Thursday nigh, the Warhawks welcome UL-Lafayette who are coming off of an 84-69 loss to Texas-Arlington.

In the Southland, Nichols upended McNeese 70-59, it was Southeastern Louisiana over Abilene Christian 65-52, and Central Arkansas picked up their first win of the season over UNO 70-67.

And Anthony Davis is questionable for tonight’s game against Utah after injuring his shoulder in the Pelicans 107-72 loss to Chicago Saturday.

There are some state agencies that will see a part of the Jindal Administration’s 61 million dollars in cuts which is proposing to help fill a 103-million dollar revenue shortfall for this fiscal year. The proposal also includes the use of 43 million in stopgap funds. Commissioner of Administration Kristy Nichols says significant cuts to public colleges and health care are on the table for next fiscal year…:

She says the joint legislative committee on the budget will have its opportunity to approve the governor’s revised budget plan at their meeting on February 20th.

Gas prices have jumped about 10% over the past couple of weeks according to the American Automobile Association. AAA says the current statewide average for a gallon of regular is $2.02 which is 15 cents more than this time last week.

It’s a beautiful day in Louisiana for parading and as you get out to enjoy the Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control is sending a warning that they will working in full force today. New Orleans Pelicans Anthony Davis had an amazing 3 point shot at the end of the game last night against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The game was about to go into overtime until Davis got the game winning three to lift the Pels to a 116-113 victory. It was Davis’ first 3 pointer of the season.

A jailer in St. Mary Parish is under arrest for allegedly bringing cell phones to prisoners. 25-year-old Yeron Diaz-Soler, of Franklin, is booked on counts of bringing contraband into a penal institution and malfeasance in office.

There are plenty of people getting loaded up for parades today at the Office of Alcohol Tobacco Control wants you to know they will be looking for underage drinking and it won’t be tolerated. There were two fatal fires in Louisiana Friday morning. One in Tangipahoa Parish that claimed the life of a 39-year-old Natalbany woman who couldn’t escape the flames. That blaze is blamed on a space heater. A 67-year-old Baton Rouge woman also perished in a fire at her home. The cause remains under investigation.

We thought the New Orleans Pelicans game last night against the Oklahoma City Thunder was headed into overtime, but Anthony Davis had other plans. With 41 points total on the night, Davis got the inbound pass with 12 seconds left in the game and downed the game-winning 3 point shot. The final score was Pelicans 116, Oklahoma 113. This was just the third career 3 pointer for Davis and his first of the season.

Six LSU players have been invited to the NFL scouting combine which will take place later this month in Indianapolis. They are La’el Collins, Kenny Hilliard, Terrence Magee, Jalen Collins, Kwon Alexander and Danielle Hunter. Southeastern Louisiana quarterback Bryan Bennett has also been invited and so has U-L-M punter Justin Manton.

The college baseball season begins next week and LSU Coach Paul Mainieri says freshman left-handed pitcher Jake Latz will miss the opening weekend because of elbow soreness. Latz was battling for a spot in the Tigers weekend rotation.

Will Saints running back Mark Ingram be back next season? NFL Analyst Mike Detillier expects the Black and Gold to make a concerted effort to keep the former Heisman Trophy winner…
