Some new Gross Domestic Product numbers from the Federal Bureau of Economic Analysis reveal Louisiana’s economy is lagging behind the national average for growth. The national rate is 2.2 percent; while Louisiana’s is 1.9 percent. The state’s mining sector – which includes oil and natural gas- shrank, which helped to contribute to the lower numbers.

Clay Higgins says the incident happened around 2pm Tuesday and they presume there were strong storms in the area when 17-year-old Gaberielle Lajack was backing out of her own driveway…:

A large oak tree blew over on top of her car as she was backing out of the driveway, killing 17 year-old Gabrielle Lajack at the scene. Lt. Clay Higgins says responders cut up the tree and removed it…

A day after the session ends, Governor Bobby Jindal will reportedly be traveling to attend a prayer rally this weekend in South Carolina. The Charleston reports Jindal is going to participate in their version of “The Response” on Saturday — similar to the prayer rally held at LSU in January.

A horrible tragedy to report out of St. Landry Parish. A tree fell on top of a teenage girl as she was pulling out of her driving way — killing her. Lt. Clay Higgins says 17-year-old Gaberielle Lajack of Opelousas was a beautiful young lady, niece to one of their deputies and the incident has everyone in total shock…:

The National weather Service says the Red River at Shreveport is still a tad over 37 feet. The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness have started assessing the damage in Northwest Louisiana. The information is needed in support of possible federal assistance.

A shocking incident happened in New Orleans this morning as a truck drove through a glass parking garage and fell to the street 5 or 6 floors below. Cops say the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office says a 17-year-old girl is dead after a tree fell on her car near Plaisance. They say Gabrielle Lajack was sitting in a parked car in her driveway when the incident occurred. Lajack was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Landry Parish Coroner.

New Orleans Police say a man is dead after his truck crashed through a parking garage cable barrier, crashed through a calss window and fell to the street. Paul Colce, an eyewitness, says he was standing at Camp and Poydras streets when he heard the sound of glass breaking…:

The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into what happened is ongoing.

The Sterlington Police Department arrests a man for allegedly setting his pregnant girlfriend on fire, causing severe burns and resulting in the woman losing the baby due to the stress. Chief Barry Bonner says 23-year-old Darren Lambert is charged with aggravated domestic abuse involving burning which is a new statute that DA Jerry Jones helped establish along with Monroe Senator Bob Kostelka..:

There are only two days left in this legislative session and lawmakers have yet to reach a compromise on the budget. As of now, the House does not support a tax credit backed by Governor Jindal that allows him to keep his no-tax pledge. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says without the tax credit, Jindal will veto several revenue generating bills, putting higher ed and health care at risk…

With Governor Bobby Jindal turning 44 years old today, the question is what does the future hold for him? UL-Lafayette Political Science Professor Pearson Cross says Jindal has a really strong upside for future job opportunities. As far as presidential politics go, Cross says Jindal is still relatively young at 44…

Jindal is finishing his second term as governor and a possible presidential campaign is ahead of him.

A federal appeals court has granted the state Attorney General’s motion to temporarily block the release of Albert Woodfox. The “Angola 3” inmate has spent over 40 years in solitary confinement for the murder of Angola prison guard Brent Miller. His two convictions for that crime were overturned. The appeals court order came one day after a federal judge ordered the unconditional release of Woodfox. Tuesday’s ruling blocks Woodfox’s release until at least Friday.

SLU and LSU’s Pennington Biomedical Research Center have partnered up to launch a program that teaches college students how to work with overweight kids. Michelle Southern reports…

Southeastern Louisiana University has joined forces with LSU’s Pennington Biomedical Research Center in creating a new program to help college students prepare for careers working with children who are overweight. Pennington Assistant Professor, Dr. Amanda Staiano, says the primary purpose of Project I-PAL is to try to prepare college students for their future jobs…

The Sterlington Police Department has arrested a man after allegedly setting his pregnant girlfriend on fire during an argument over bills. Chief Barry Bonner says the victim was transported to the burn center in Jackson, Mississippi with second and third degree burns all over her body. He says cops were told by family members that the victim was 9 weeks pregnant…
