Rapper Flo Rida (flow RIDE duh), and Pro Football Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith will not be attending the Miss USA Pageant in Baton Rouge July 12th. Macy’s Department Stores have also cut ties with the billionaire, and his menswear clothing line.

After getting some backing from Britney Spears mom, Lynne, gubernatorial candidate John Bel Edwards is offering a rather entertaining incentive for people to contribute $50 to his campaign. By doing that, supporters are entered to win a trip for two to Las Vegas for the Britney Spears concert at Planet Hollywood; including airfare, hotel and backstage passes. The winner will be announced September 8.

The Shreveport Police Department says a crash in west Shreveport killed two men and left two others recovering from serious injuries. They say it appears a vehicle left the roadway and flipped several times claiming the life of the 20-year-old driver and a 17 year old passenger. Two others were taken to a hospital. The cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time.

A new CNN survey, conducted between June 26 and June 28, shows Governor Bobby Jindal at 2% in the Republican Presidential poll which is up from 1%. ULM Political Science Professor Joshua Stockely says, right now, it will only take a few percentage points for the governor to make the cut to the top 10 to be in the debate…:

Two more performers have decided not to come to Baton Rouge for the Miss USA pageant due to ties with Donald Trump who’s getting backlash over racially charged statements. Rapper Flo-Rida and singer Natalie LaRose have cancelled their performances for pageant July 12th at the Baton Rouge River Center.

A search is underway for at least two suspects involved in an altercation with a State trooper in which one fired at the cop and injured him then fled the scene about five miles south of Alexandria.. The trooper returned fire. Troopers have updated the description of the vehicle they are looking for. It’s an ’80s Cheveolet Caprice, grey in color, red tape over the right tail light and a marijuana leaf hanging car freshener.

Newly hired LSU assistant basketball coach John Treloar will not be joining the program. Treloar, who was the director of player personnel for the Phoenix Suns when hired in April, stated Tuesday night that he has accepted a job with another NBA team. Treloar was an assistant at LSU from 2004-2008. LSU head coach Johnny Jones will reportedly reopen a search to replace Treloar.

It’s being reported that Shreveport native Michael Qualls has signed an NBA free-agent deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The former Arkansas Razorback star was considered a prospect in the NBA draft, but suffered an ACL injury in the weeks leading up to the draft. It is not expected that Qualls will be healthy for the NBA’s summer league or training camp.

UNO has tapped former LSU All-American Blake Dean as their new head baseball coach. Dean was a member of the LSU National Championship Baseball team in 2009. At the age of 27, he will become one of the youngest head coaches in Division-I baseball. Dean takes over a program that saw the Privateers winning just 27 games over the last two seasons.

And in the Women’s World Cup, the United States advance to the final after defeating Germany 2-0. Midfielder Carli Lloyd struck first for the US by converting a penalty kick in the 69th minute. Kelly O’Hara sealed the victory with a goal in the 84th minute. The US team will face tonight’s winner between England and Japan in Sunday’s championship match.
