Tropical Storm Danny is now the 4th named storm of the season in the central Atlantic. State Climatologist Barry Keim says strong wind shear, which tends to break up storms in this El Nino season, does have areas of weakness around it..:

Two different high school students at two different South Louisiana high schools have been arrested for bringing loaded guns to to their schools. A Plaquemine High School student was charged after information provided by a football player located his gun. The other was this morning at McKinley High in Baton Rouge where 17 year-old Owen Galo was arrested for a loaded 38 caliber gun in his book bag.

A three vehicle crash this morning in East Feliciana Parish has resulted in one death and nine injuries on LA 67. State Police say 18 year-old Michael Davidson of Slaughter crossed the center line; sideswiping one vehicle then crashing head on into another. The victim of the head on crash- 51 year-old James McFadden III of Amite-was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Health Officer Dr. Jimmy Guidry says this is the third water system in the state to test positive for the amoeba this summer but officials are using a better test…:

Tropical Depression Four has formed in the central Atlantic Ocean and is forecast to be the first hurricane of the 2015 season over the weekend. The National Hurricane Center says there is no immediate threat to land but it will likely continue to track west toward the Caribbean over the next week. They forecast the depression will strengthten today and become Tropical Storm Danny later tonight.

Tropical Depression 4 continues to churn in the central Atlantic and the National Hurricane Center says they expect it to become Hurricane Danny this weekend, but still far from land. They say gradual strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, but it’s still too early to say if the system will threaten the US or the Gulf of Mexcio. We’ll be keeping an eye on the eventual track of TD number 4.

State Police is investigating a deadly morning crash in East Feliciana Parish near Clinton involving three vehicles. They say one person died in the wreck, a second succumbed to injuries at an area hospital and nine others were injured. Few other details about the crash are available at this time.

An area of low pressure in the Atlantic has formed and organized into Tropical Depression Four according to the National Hurricane Center. They say further strengthening and model tracks into the future are fuzzy at this time and it is too early to know if the system will threaten the US or Gulf of Mexico. Alcohol and Tobacco Control Commissioner Troy Hebert says his state issued vehicle was stolen from his Baton Rouge home and the thief attempted to set it on fire. Hebert says when the SUV was located, authorities found that the perpetrator stuck a rag in the gas tank….

They say it’s a long way out but it looks like the Lesser Antilles and some of the outer islands of the Caribbean should be keeping an eye on it. New Orleans Saints Defensive Coordinator Rob Ryan has reportedly filed a lawsuit claiming that his new $2 million dollar home is sinking. The DC and his wife are suing the developer, builder and engineering firm claiming that the ground in the Uptown home is shifting badly and that key joints throughout the house are also overloaded. The report indicates the developers are claiming the house is fine and Ryan is using the lawsuit to manipulate the builder to buy the house back for a huge profit.

The fate of the shuttered charity hospital in New Orleans should not be decided by the Jindal administration according to State Treasurer John Kennedy. He says the building could’ve been used again as a hospital even though a new facility was constructed. Kennedy says he wants to ensure the best for tax payers and New Orleans…

Blue Bell will begin distributing ice cream again in a five phase plan beginning August 31st in select markets. In April, the company was forced to cease their entire operation and recall all products after its ice cream was linked to 10 listeria illnesses and three deaths. LSU marketing professor Dan Rice says the plan of slowly phasing the ice cream back is a good strategy…
