The Livingston Parish man accused of brutally attacking his pregnant wife and killing their unborn child has pleaded guilty. 34-year-old Jeffrey Reynolds of Walker was arrested in 2013 on charges of attempted manslaughter and first degree feticide. He has been sentenced to 20 years. It is believed Reynolds was on bath salts at the time of the attack.

A donor who wishes to remain anonymous is offering to pay New Orleans $126,000 to remove four prominently displayed Confederate monuments. Mayor Mitch Landrieu has been pushing for the symbols to come down and be declared a public nuisance. The City Council said they got a letter this week with information that an anonymous donor was ready to pay the cost of taking the monuments down.

A grand jury in East Baton Rouge Parish indicted a man accused of hiring three people to kill his ex-wife on charges of first degree murder. 64-year-old Hamid Ghassemi, a Baton Rouge car dealership owner, is accused of paying $10,000 to have the victim, 54-year-old Tahera Ghassemi, abducted, killed and buried in April. She was discovered over a month later. DA Hillar Moore says his office will consider seeking the death penalty.

The New Orleans City Council today received reports from several entities that disagree with Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s inclination to remove 4 prominently displayed Confederate sautes. Several speakers complained to the council that the hearings to remove the statues are show trials to carry out the mayor’s request. The council hasn’t set a date yet for a vote on the issue.

The Shreveport Police Department announces a $5,000 reward is now being offered for murdered officer Thomas LaValley’s department issued weapon which is still missing. Officer LaValley was shot and killed in the line of duty early August allegedly by 27-year-old Grover Cannon. Authorities say the reward will be given to anyone who has information as to where the missing Glock 22, .40 caliber handgun can be found.

Moody’s Investors says the low oil prices will likely force another round of cuts from the drilling budgets of the largest companies next year. The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an officer involved shooting which sent the suspect to the hospital. They say a 911 call came in about a woman who was possibly being held against her will in Baker, and when deputies responded they encountered an armed man. That’s when law enforcement fired upon the suspect and he was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries according to authorities. The names of those involved have not been released.

Anderson was wanted for two counts of attempted second degree murder and several other felony charges.
