The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is putting a warning out about a batch of poisonous heroin on the streets. Sheriff Greg Champagne says recently in Chicago, 74 people overdosed on a “bad batch” of heroin in a three day period and he’s fairly confident that’s what happened with a double death overdose in Luling…

He says 2 known drug abusers were found dead this week at a home in Luling after injecting heroin.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Bel Edwards has scheduled a press conference this morning to make a major campaign announcement. Sources say Republican Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne is expected to cross party lines and announce his endorsement for Edwards in the gubernatorial runoff. Dardenne finished fourth in the gubernatorial primary election last month.

The Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control says a judge has ruled in their favor and has reinstated the suspensions of three French Quarter strip clubs. Commissioner Troy Hebert’s ruling was overturned, but put back in place Wednesday…

Hebert originally ordered a suspension of the businesses’ alcohol permits after uncovering drugs and prostitution there.

In WalletHub’s list of the Fattest States in America, Louisiana comes in at an unflattering number two. Spokesperson Jill Gonzales says one bright spot is that the state did not fall in the top ten for the percentage of people with Type II Diabetes…

In college basketball news…an ESPN report says LSU freshman Antonio Blakeney has been cleared to play this season. The NCAA was apparently looking to see if he violated any rules by appearing in a workout video with a trainer.

Louisiana Tech announces that transfer LeAntwan Luckett has been ruled eligible to play this upcoming season for the Bulldogs. The fifth year senior scored over 14-hundred points at Alcorn State.

The Saints take a three-game winning streak into Sunday’s game against the Titans, who have lost six in a row. Quarterback Drew Brees is coming off one of his best performances, as he threw for a career-high 511 yards and seven touchdowns in a wild 52-49 win over Giants. Brees says it will be hard to duplicate that performance again..

State Police says City Marshals from the Ward 2 office in the central Louisiana town of Marksville were involved in a shooting following a pursuit — and a 6-year-old child is dead and his father critically injured. Trooper Scott Moreau says the initial investigation revealed that officers fired on the vehicle after the chase:

Avoyelles Parish Coroner, Dr. L.J. Mayeux, says the driver, Chris Few, was ramming the cop car at a dead end and that’s when they fired, striking Few and the little boy who was shot several times.

Republican state lawmakers have endorsed Senator David Vitter in the gubernatorial runoff, but members of the GOP on the Senate side aren’t happy about some of Vitter’s campaign tactics. However, House caucus Chairman, Alexandria Representative Lance Harris, says this is typical political rehetoric and the lower chamber fully supports Vitter…:

State Police is looking for a pickup truck that was involved in a fatal hit and run on I-10 near the Mississippi State line that sent an 18-wheeler over the guardrail into the Pearl River. Sgt. Nick Manale says they recovered the driver of the big rig’s body. He says there was another 18 wheeler involved and they suspect the driver of the at large truck is at fault…:

Authorities in central Louisiana say a 6-year-old child is dead and his father in critical condition following a pursuit and officer involved shooting. Jeff Palermo reports…:

State Police is investigating a multi-vehicle fatal hit and run crash on the Pearl River Bridge near the Mississippi State line on I-10 which involved an 18-wheeler breaking through the guard rail and into the water. Rescue workers have recovered the body from the river. Investigators say another 18-wheeler was involved and a third vehicle still at large.

Conservatives at the State Capitol may be divided on who they choose to endorse for governor. Republicans leaders in the House endorse David Vitter, but the Senate side isn’t so certain yet. The US Senator is running a campaign commercial trashing lawmakers and Senate Republican caucus Chair, Metairie Senator Danny Martiny, says Vitter isn’t running against the state legislature:

But state Republican lawmakers say Vitter’s policies are more in line with their mission.

The College Football Playoff Championship will be held in New Orleans in 2020. This is the second CFP game The Big Easy has bid on and the city had been on a streak of losing Final Fours and even the 2018 Super Bowl. He says the chase ended in gunfire and Few was hit and is in critical condition..:

Authorities in central Louisiana say a 6-year-old child is dead and his father in critical condition following a pursuit and officer involved shooting. Avoyelles Parish Coroner, Dr. L.J. Mayeux, says apparently a warrant had been issued for the driver, Chris Few, which is why he was being sought by City Marshals from the Ward 2 office in Marksville. He says a chase later ensued…:

He says that’s when there was an exchange of gunfire..Few was hit and taken to a hospital in critical condition, and the child was shot several times and died on the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

In the November 21st runoff for Attorney General, incumbent Republican Buddy Caldwell has received the endorsement of the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus. His fellow Republican challenger, former Congressman Jeff Landry, announced the support of the third place finisher in the primary race for AG, Democrat Geri Broussard Baloney, earlier this week.

State Police is investigating a fatal hit and run crash that forced an 18-wheeler over the guardrail on I-10 West into the Pearl River near the Louisiana-Mississippi line. Sgt. Nick Manale says three vehicles are thought to be involved in last night’s crash, two big rigs and a black pickup truck, which fled the scene…:

He says they continue to interview witnesses to try to figure out how this crash occurred.

The first college football playoff rankings are out and LSU is ranked second, while Alabama is ranked fourth. The two teams with national championship hopes will meet on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa.
