The Ragin Cajuns begin the stretch run of their season tonight as they visit South Alabama. UL Lafayette has won its last two games and Coach Mark Hudspeth says he wants to keep the positive momentum going, but they face a good Jaguars team tonight…

The Cajuns are 3-1 in the Sun Belt, while South Alabama is 2-2. You can watch tonight’s game on ESPNU beginning at 6:30PM.

Also in the Sun Belt, ULM looks to snap a seven game losing streak Saturday when they host conference leader Arkansas State. The Warhawks are 1-8 and coming off a 51-14 loss to Troy. The Red Wolves are undefeated in league play and averaging close to 45 points a game in their five Sun Belt contests.

Arkansas will have its opportunity to slow down LSU running back Leonard Fournette this Saturday. Fournette only ran for nine yards in a shutout loss to the Razorbacks last year. Hogs Coach Bret Bielema says Fournette has improved a lot since that game…

The Bayou Bengals are looking to bounce back from last week’s disappointing loss to Alabama, while Arkansas is coming off a wild overtime win over Ole Miss. Saturday’s game will be televised on ESPN.

The Pelicans are now 1-7 after losing to the Atlanta Hawks last night 106-98. The Pels held a 9 point lead at the half, but the Hawks scored 59 in the second half to secure the victory. Al Horford led Atlanta with 26 while former Louisiana Tech stand out Paul Milsaps added 19. The Pels were led by Eric Gordon’s 26. Anthony Davis did not play in last night’s game after suffering a bruised hip Tuesday night.

Multiple reports indicate one of the two officers charged in the shooting death of a 6-year-old boy in Marksville will post a 1-million dollar bond and be released. 23-year-old Norris Greenhouse, Jr, will reportedly put property up to secure the bond. Legal analyst Tim Meche says it is not unusual for something like this to happen.

Meche says once Greenhouse is released, he will not be working as a city marshal and won’t be able to carry a firearm.

At this time last year, three-percent of all doctor visits were because of the flu. That’s according to Dr. Frank Welch, with the Department of Health and Hospitals. Welch says this year they are seeing fewer cases…

Welch says it’s hard to explain why we saw more flu cases at this time last year.

 Fall weather is definitely on its way, as a cold front finishes passing the state today and gets rid of the humidity. State Climatologist Barry Keim says the air is going to be dry and cool with high temperatures in the mid to upper 60s for the next few days.

 Keim says come Saturday and Sunday, we’ll see low temperatures in the 40s. He says for the next three days, it’s time to break out the sweaters and jackets.

There’s a chance for severe weather in north Louisiana through this evening as a cold front moves in. Marty Mayeaux with the National Weather Service in Shreveport says this thunderstorm activity could bring in about an inch of rain to the area…:

Louisiana State Police arrest an “on-duty” Shreveport firefighter after he allegedly tried to meet with what he thought was a 13-year-old girl and her mother to have a sexual encounter with both. Trooper Matt Harris says 35-year-old Brian Garza left the station for the meetup, but found troopers instead…:

Garza was charged with indecent behavior with a juvenile, computer aided solicitation of a minor and prostitution.

The two candidates for governor touched on several key policy issues during last night’s debate televised by Louisiana Public Broadcasting. Democrat John Bel Edwards says he supports charter schools, but high performing districts should be given the option to opt out of they choose. But Republican David Vitter, who supports charter schools without reservation, says limiting the opportunity to districts with low letter grades, would alienate thousands of students who happen to be in high a performing district…:

One of the Marksville officers involved in the shooting death of a 6-year-old boy and injuring of his father, is reportedly set to be released on a million dollars bond tomorrow. Apparently 23-year-old Norris Greenhouse Jr.s’ dad is securing property to come up with the bond. Greenhouse and Derrick Stafford are each charged with second degree murder in the fatal shooting of 6-year-old Jeremy Mardis.

You’ve probably noticed we’re dealing with a major mosquito problem in Louisiana right now, even this far into November. Colby Colona, President of the Louisiana Mosquito Control Association, says blame the weather..:

She urges folks to protect themselves from mosquitoes until things really start to cool off. Colder temperatures are expected to move in over the next several days.

During the LBP debate last night, things got heated toward the end with Democrat John Bel Edwards calling Republican opponent David Vitter a liar and a cheater, and Vitter accusing the West Point graduate of not living by the Honor Code. LSU Political Science Professor Robert Hogan doesn’t feel there was a “winner” of the debate, but this bickering will continue..:

The two candidates for governor touched on several key policy issues during last night’s televised LPB debate. They are split on many matters including the direction they believe healthcare should be headed in the state. Democrat John Bel Edwards says he would immediately expand the traditional Medicaid program as governor, and it should have already been done…:

But Vitter says that would cripple the state financially and the US Senator would only consider Medicaid expansion on Louisiana’s terms.

Voters finally seem to be paying more attention to this race as Secretary of State Tom Schedler says early voting numbers for the November 21st runoff are higher than they were for the primary. Polls are closed today in observance of Veterans Day, but will reopen tomorrow morning between 8:30-6 through Saturday.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says a man is dead and another is behind bars after a fight escalated between the two over a dog. They believe the suspect, 38-year-old Danny Breaux of Raceland, arranged to buy the dog from 39-year-old Duong Tran, but ended up not paying for it. Cops say during a fight over the matter, Breaux beat Tran to death in a street. He will be booked on a charge of second-degree murder.

State Police says they’ve arrested a Shreveport Firefighter who was busted trying to meet up with what he thought to be a 13-year-old and her mother for a sex act, while he was on duty at the station. Trooper Matt Harris says 35-year-old Brian Garza was chatting online and believed he was talking to the juvenile and arranged a meet up…:

There are an unusual high number of mosquitoes buzzing around for this time of year. Colby Colona, President of the Louisiana Mosquito Control Association, says warm temperatures and heavy rain events can trigger dormant mosquito eggs to hatch and that’s what’s been happening. Colona hopes temperatures will become more fall or winter like sooner than later:

A cold front is moving over Louisiana according to the National Weather Service, bringing in the chance for severe weather in North Louisiana but dramatically different change in temperature over the next several days.

Thunderstorm activity is expected across north Louisiana today and into tonight. Marty Mayeaux with the National Weather Service in Shreveport says a cold front is moving in and along with it, the chance for severe weather:

Mosquitoes don’t like cold temperatures, but they do like water and Louisiana has been mostly wet and mild this fall and the pests are everywhere. The two gubernatorial candidates largely avoided attacking each other over things like negative ads and private investigators, until the very end of last night’s LBP debate. High priority policies were addressed including health care where they are split. Republican David Vitter says Democrat John Bel Edwards would expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, like Kentucky, which would cause heath care costs to skyrocket…:

But Edwards says if Medicaid had already been expanded in Louisiana, it would have saved $52 million dollars this year alone. Vitter says he’d expand Medicaid but only under Louisiana’s terms.
