LSU has made it official they’ve hired Brian Kelly as the new head football coach of the Fighting Tigers. The school says Kelly has agreed to a ten-year, 95-million dollar contract, plus incentives. The winningest coach in Notre Dame history will be formally introduced tomorrow but will arrive in Baton Rouge this afternoon.

The 2021 Hurricane Season officially ends today and after a wild ride for Louisiana two seasons in a row, it’s welcome news.

State Police report they investigated 10 fatal crashes which resulted in 16 deaths during the Thanksgiving weekend. It’s a significant increase compared to last year. Superintendent of State Police, Colonel Lamar Davis, says they are down 200 troopers from where they would like to be, which is why it’s so important that the 100th cadet class of 64 men and women begin training on Sunday….

A new era of LSU football is set to begin as Tigers athletic director Scott Woodward has hired Brian Kelly to be the Tigers’ next head coach. Kelly is the winningest football coach in Notre Dame history.

The hurricane season officially ends today. State Climatologist Barry Keim says its the third busiest on record with 21 named storms, seven hurricanes, and four major hurricanes.

Today is Giving Tuesday. Red Cross for Louisiana spokesperson Caroline Fountain says with two devastating hurricane seasons back-to-back, a donation to the Red Cross is greatly welcomed.

The 100th Louisiana State Police cadet class starts this Sunday. LSP Superintendent Colonel Lamar Davis says this academy comes at a good time, as they are about 200 troopers shy of ideal manpower…:

Davis the cadet class includes 10 females and reflects cultural diversity as well.

Senator Bill Cassidy is frustrated the CDC will not study the natural immunity a person has once they’ve recovered from COVID-19…

Meanwhile, State Health Officer Doctor Joe Kanter is encouraging everyone five years and up to get vaccinated and everyone 18 and older to get a booster to protect themself from the omicron variant.

LSU is expected to announce today that Brian Kelly is the new head football coach of the Fighting Tigers. Kelly is leaving Notre Dame as the school’s all-time winningest coach. In 12 seasons in South Bend, Kelly went 113-40 and led the Fighting Irish to the BCS National Championship game after the 2012 season and two appearances in the college football playoffs.

So will any current LSU assistant coaches stay? It’s been reported that cornerbacks coach and recruiting coordinator Corey Raymond and running backs coach Kevin Faulk will remain with the program.

ULM’s offensive coordinator Rich Rodriguez is set to become the new head coach at Jacksonville State, which will soon join Conference USA.

Taysom Hill is reportedly getting snaps with the first-team offense as the Saints get ready for Thursday night’s match-up with Dallas. Cowboys Coach Mike McCarthy will not travel with the team after testing positive for COVID.

U-L Lafayette athletics director Bryan Maggard says they would like to have a new football coach in place by December 15th, which is the start of the early signing period…

LSU has found itself a new head football coach. Media reports indicate Brian Kelly is leaving Notre Dame after 12 seasons for Tiger Town. The 60-year-old is the winningest coach at Notre Dame and he’s won 263 games during his career. He led the Fighting Irish to a BCS title game appearance in 2012 and college football playoff appearances in 2018 and 2020.

Senator Bill Cassidy is expressing concern that federal health officials are not looking into how long one can expect to remain naturally immune to COVID-19 after getting it. He believes it’s due to incompetence on the part of such agencies as the CDC and the NIH.

Cassidy says the CDC has not done a great job with the COVID pandemic. He claims the agency’s director is running the response effort via ZOOM from home.

LSU may have missed out on Lincoln Riley, who has left Oklahoma for USC, but does Tigers athletic director Scott Woodward have a backup plan. The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman tweeted out earlier today asking out loud if LSU may try to hire Matt Rhule, the current NFL head coach at Carolina, who turned around football programs at Temple and Baylor.

Meanwhile, former LSU Coach Ed Orgeron is enjoying life on a Florida beach. It was announced on October 17th that Orgeron would not return in 2022 as LSU’s head coach. But the team kept battling despite more injuries and close losses to Alabama and Arkansas. LSU finished the regular season with wins over ULM and Texas A-and-M. Orgeron says the players were great during this period of transition…

At six-and-six, LSU is eligible to play in a bowl game. The Birmingham Bowl is a possibility.

Dallas Cowboys Coach Mike McCarthy will not be in New Orleans on Thursday for the game against the Saints. McCarthy has tested positive for COVID as the Cowboys are dealing with a COVID outbreak among players and coaches.

The Saints are reportedly preparing to make a change at quarterback. The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting Taysom Hill is taking first-team snaps at quarterback, and Trevor Siemian is running plays with the second team.

Ragin Cajuns athletic director Bryan Maggard says it’s bitter-sweet to see head football coach Billy Napier take the Florida job…

Today is the deadline to register for FEMA disaster relief if your main home suffered damage during Hurricane Ida. Nathan Custer with the agency says that damage can range from the minor to the catastrophic, but if you haven’t registered with FEMA for assistance, you only have hours left to do so:

To register, call 1-800-621-3362 or visit DisasterAssistance.gov on the web.

Custer says there is no dollar threshold on the amount of damage you can seek help for.

Custer says more than a half-million property owners have registered with FEMA since Ida hit and at least one-point-six-billion-dollars in assistance has been paid out by the agency:

News of the Omicron variant of COVID has health experts concerned as a number of countries have reported cases of the new variant, including Canada. Governor John Bel Edwards is also mindful of Omicron and says unfortunately it’s par for the course.

Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin are now experiencing a surge in the Delta variant, similar to the one Louisiana had over the summer. Edwards says it’s another reminder the pandemic is far from over and everyone needs to help slow transmission.

Currently, 49-percent of Louisiana’s population is fully vaccinated, that’s more than 2.26 million. 55-percent have received one dose of the COVID vaccine and 18-percent are boosted.

Edwards says we should all be concerned about the newest variant and continue to practice mitigation. The governor says he’s hoping and praying the state will not have another surge similar to the one Louisiana experienced in July and August.

The Omicron variant is now the dominant COVID variant in South Africa, less than two weeks after it was first reported.

Million says you should always price check and compare prices from a variety of online retailers, but most importantly, especially this year with supply chain disruptions…

Beware of phishing scams and pop-up windows claiming bargains, Million says this is where you need to investigate a retailer. Million says how you pay for your item is another way to protect yourself from a scam.

This year’s 12th annual Small Business Saturday was a hit nationwide with spending hitting an estimated all-time high of 23.3-billion dollars. Dawn McVea, Louisiana Director of the National Federation of Independent Business, says the figure includes a two percent increase in small business online shopping that increased to 58 percent.

McVea says six percent more shoppers opted Saturday to support local independent restaurants around the nation than in 2020.

McVea says a large majority of those surveyed found Small Business Saturday to be a positive event for their communities.

McVea says the fact that sales went up this year for mom and pop shops during Small Business Saturday can be a precursor to an improved fourth quarter.

But Napier will coach the Cajuns in this Saturday’s Sun Belt Conference Championship game.

Skip Holtz’s nine-year run as the head coach of the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs has come to an end. Holtz took the Bulldogs to seven straight bowl games, winning six straight. He believes he brought consistency to the program…

In NFL news, Dallas Coach Mike McCarthy will not be in New Orleans for Thursday night’s game against the Saints. McCarthy is one of several coaches and players who have tested positive for COVID. After missing the last three games, Saints running back Alvin Kamara was seen by the media at practice yesterday.

Former LSU pitcher Kevin Gausman has signed a 110-million dollar contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.

About half of the state’s 64 parishes have local propositions on their ballot including in St. Tammany Parish, where voters are deciding if they want a casino resort in Slidell. Jeremy Alford of La-Politics-dot-com says the proposition is a controversial one…

There was speculation the Tigers would hire Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley, but instead, the 38-year-old Texas native took the U-S-C job. Ragin Cajun fans are wishing Billy Napier the best after leaving U-L Lafayette for Florida. It’s unclear who LSU athletic director Scott Woodward will tab as the Tigers new head coach. He’s known for making big-name hires, but the number of big names available is dwindling.

Now back to holiday shopping which is in full swing and today is Cyber Monday. Wallethub analyst Jill Gonzales says if you have the option of zero-percent financing for a limited time or an immediate discount…
