New labor statistics show Louisiana has again posted a new record low unemployment rate. Louisiana Workforce Commission Supervisor for Employment Statistics Mark Jones says the numbers are tremendous news…:

Louisiana’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is now at 3.3-percent, which is a new record low for Louisiana in Modern Times. What’s more the number of employed persons statewide increased by over 7000 during October. Jones says those jobs were mostly in education, health services, hospitality and manufacturing…:

Jones says there was increased hiring in Lafayette, Alexandria and Lake Charles between October of last year and this past September, but two cities says much larger growth…:

World Cup fever is underway with the world’s premiere sporting event kicking off yesterday. So just how good is the U-S team? President of the Louisiana Soccer Association Sean Esker believes we might get an indication early on in their match against Wales today.

That game begins at 1 pm Monday.

Because the World Cup is being played in Qatar, weather-wise its more ideal to play the matches in November and December instead of the summer.

US sports fans are typically focused on football this time of year, but Esker says with the tournament starting during Thanksgiving week and people off from work, it’s a good time to take in what the rest of the world refers to as football.

The Golden Band from Tigerland is the first marching band to ever receive a Grammy nomination. The band recorded the album Full Circle with alum Sean Ardoin last spring, and it’s received a nod as Best Regional Roots Music Album. LSU Band Director Dr. Kelvin Jones says it’s historic.

Jones says when Ardoin approached him about the idea he assumed it would be one song, but it ended up being an entire album. And now Ardoin is releasing a double vinyl album, that’s of course purple and gold and 15% of the proceeds will go to the band for scholarship and more.

The 65th Grammy Awards will be presented on February 5th and Jones says he plans on being there and fingers crossed he and Sean Ardoin will bring home some hardware. But in the meantime, Jones says just the nomination is a huge honor.

The state Office of Juvenile Justice is asking judges’ to release certain low-risk offenders to parole, to make room for more incoming violent kids. A number of local DA’s signed off on the letter; saying they badly need the space in juvenile centers. The O-J-J says a factor in the space crunch is that repairs are not completed on a 36-bed dormitory at a Monroe facility damaged badly during a riot.

The Milken Center ranks Louisiana 49th in overall prosperity. Some areas of the state are more prosperous than others, like St. Tammany, Lafayette and St. Charles. Among the lowest ranking, East Carroll, West Carroll, Madison, Avoyelles, and Washington Parishes. Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream, Farah Pandith, says Claiborne Parish deserves recognition for the most improved…

The F-B-I is reportedly looking at New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell for a series of clothing purchases made by a local salon owner who is the personal shopper and stylist for Cantrell. Fox 8 TV says the FBI has subpoenaed receipts and documents from high-end New Orleans fashion retailer Ballin’s Limited and some of the clothing purchases examined date back to 2017.

A new report from LSU’s Center for Energy Studies predicts Louisiana will regain thousands of jobs in the oil and gas industry by the middle of next year. Research professor Greg Upton says this year Louisiana has already gained 2500 jobs that involve extracting oil and gas from the ground.
