Several students at Iberia Middle School needed medical attention after they unknowingly took THC-laced gummies. A mother of one of the students told KLFY TV that her 13-year-old daughter was hallucinating and thought she was swimming. The child accused of passing out the marijuana laced-edibles faces disciplinary action and could be expelled.

A 108-year-old Baton Rouge runner who competed in the National Senior Games has passed away.  Sean Richardson has more.

A St. Landry Parish grand jury has indicted Opelousas Police Chief Graig Leblanc and two others for a shooting that occurred last December. Leblanc has admitted the domestic incident was the result of infidelity on his part with former officer Savannah Butler, who has also been indicted. Leblanc is facing charges of obstruction of justice and malfeasance in office.

Now Kamara wants to see the Saints winning games again. They are on a five-game losing streak Coach Dennis Allen does not expect starting quarterback Derek Carr back for Sunday’s game against the Chargers, because of an oblique injury. Spencer Rattler will make his third consecutive start.

The Pelicans did not have Zion Williamson for the season opener because of an illness, but New Orleans still defeated Chicago Bulls 123 to 111 at the Smoothie King Center. CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram combined for 56 points, but ESPN is reporting that starting point guard Dejounte Murray fractured his left hand.

The eight ranked Tigers continue to prepare for their big SEC title against 14th ranked Texas A-and-M. A&M’s strength is its ground game. The Aggies are 12th in the country in rushing yards per game, averaging 219 yards a game. Safety Sage Ryan says their focus is stopping the run…

Governor Landry is assuring the public there is currently no danger after a detainee from China tested positive for a rare, aggressive, and drug resistant form of tuberculosis while held at the Richwood Correction Center last July .

According to a lawsuit filed by the state against U-S Immigration and Customs Enforcement and others, the inmate was transferred to a Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Acadia Parish and in August released into the general population at that facility.

Attorney General Liz Murrill says they are suing ICE and its contractors to ensure that every potentially exposed individual is medially cleared by the State before they are permitted to leave the two facilities.

Louisiana Surgeon General Doctor Ralph Abraham says the patient is now in isolation and receiving proper medication and is asymptomatic.

If Donald Trump gets re-elected in two weeks, a pair of Louisianians could be up for cabinet positions. Andrew Greenstein reports.

There was speculation the Saints may trade Kamara or there was a chance he could be released after this season. A-K says it his desire is to remain a Saint and retire with the franchise that drafted him in 2017….

Quarterback Derek Carr was not at practice today, so it’s likely Spencer Rattler will start against the Chargers on Sunday. But Chris Olave, Taysom Hill, Cesar Ruiz, Lucas Patrick, Marshon Lattimore all participated.

Louisiana Tech’s defense continues to play well and it led to a victory last night as the Bulldogs defeated UTEP 14 to 10 in what Coach Sonny Cumbie called an ugly win. Tech is now 2-and-2 in Conference USA and they’ll visit Sam Houston next Tuesday.

The Pelicans tip off a new season tonight as they host the Chicago Bulls. New Orleans was just a 21-19 at the Smoothie King Center last season. Coach Willie Green says they want to play better on their home floor this year…

Governor Landry is assuring the people of Louisiana that there is no danger, even as an inmate in a federal prison in the state tests positive for a rare, drug-resistant form of tuberculosis. Landry said in a news conference that the patient came from China and crossed into the U.S. illegally.

LSU has announced plans to build a stand alone building for construction management students. The project has received a $15 million donation from Art Favre, a 1972 LSU graduate and founder of Performance Contractors. Dean of the College of Engineering Vicki Colvin says LSU is actively raising more money for the construction of the building…

State Troopers have moved a homeless encampment just blocks away from the Dome, which has upset city leaders. The governor’s office says they want New Orleans to put its best foot forward when hosting such a major event.

A big Taylor Swift fan from Metairie woman booked 191 hotel rooms at the Holiday Inn New Orleans-Downtown Superdome hotel last year for about 500-dollars each for four nights to help visiting Swifties find a hotel for a not so astronomical price….

The biggest offseason addition for the Pelicans was Dejounte Murray, who was an off ball guard in Atlanta, but he’ll play point guard in New Orleans. New Orleans does not have a true center after losing Jonas Valanciunas in free agency.

Rumors about Alvin Kamara possibly getting traded have been put to rest as New Orleans and Kamara have agreed to a two-year contract extension that’s worth a reported 24.5 million dollars. Kamara’s contract keeps him in New Orleans through 2026. The Saints will be in Los Angeles this Sunday to take on the Chargers.

LSU was ranked 86th in points allowed last season, giving up 30 points a game. This year LSU is allowing 21 points a game and ranked 35th in the country. First-year defensive coordinator Blake Baker is getting a lot of credit and Coach Brian Kelly says Baker has taken the time to develop personal relationships with the players…
