Saints running back Alvin Kamara is glad he has a new contract that keeps him in New Orleans through 2026 as he’s signed a two-year contract extension worth 24-million dollars. There was speculation the Saints may trade Kamara or there was a chance he could be released after this season. A-K says it his desire is to remain a Saint and retire with the franchise that drafted him in 2017….

Quarterback Derek Carr was not at practice today, so it’s likely Spencer Rattler will start against the Chargers on Sunday. But Chris Olave, Taysom Hill, Cesar Ruiz, Lucas Patrick, Marshon Lattimore all participated.

Louisiana Tech’s defense continues to play well and it led to a victory last night as the Bulldogs defeated UTEP 14 to 10 in what Coach Sonny Cumbie called an ugly win. Tech is now 2-and-2 in Conference USA and they’ll visit Sam Houston next Tuesday.

The Pelicans tip off a new season tonight as they host the Chicago Bulls. New Orleans was just a 21-19 at the Smoothie King Center last season. Coach Willie Green says they want to play better on their home floor this year…

Governor Landry is assuring the people of Louisiana that there is no danger, even as an inmate in a federal prison in the state tests positive for a rare, drug-resistant form of tuberculosis. Landry said in a news conference that the patient came from China and crossed into the U.S. illegally.

Landry says the patient was transferred to a federal prison in Louisiana; and from there, to a medical facility.

LSU has announced plans to build a stand alone building for construction management students. The project has received a $15 million donation from Art Favre, a 1972 LSU graduate and founder of Performance Contractors. Dean of the College of Engineering Vicki Colvin says LSU is actively raising more money for the construction of the building…

A die-hard Taylor Swift fan from Metairie books nearly an entire hotel near the Superdome – but not to make a profit. Andrew Greenstein reports.

Taylor Swift will hold concerts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at the Ceasars Superdome. The shows will bring in visitors from around the country. State Troopers have moved a homeless encampment just blocks away from the Dome, which has upset city leaders. The governor’s office says they want New Orleans to put its best foot forward when hosting such a major event.

LSU has unveiled plans for a new $107 million Construction & Advanced Manufacturing Building.  Dean of the College of Engineering Vicki Colvin says the project, supported by a $15 million donation from Art Favre, a 1972 LSU grad and founder of Performance Contractors, will enhance the university’s top-tier construction management program.

A big Taylor Swift fan from Metairie woman booked 191 hotel rooms at the Holiday Inn New Orleans-Downtown Superdome hotel last year for about 500-dollars each for four nights to help visiting Swifties find a hotel for a not so astronomical price….

The biggest offseason addition for the Pelicans was Dejounte Murray, who was an off ball guard in Atlanta, but he’ll play point guard in New Orleans. New Orleans does not have a true center after losing Jonas Valanciunas in free agency.

Rumors about Alvin Kamara possibly getting traded have been put to rest as New Orleans and Kamara have agreed to a two-year contract extension that’s worth a reported 24.5 million dollars. Kamara’s contract keeps him in New Orleans through 2026. The Saints will be in Los Angeles this Sunday to take on the Chargers.

An Amani Givens one-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter put Louisiana Tech on top and the Bulldogs held on to beat Texas  El Paso 14 to 10. Tech’s defense held the Miners to 85 yards passing as Jakari Foster and Koble Fields each had 11 tackles.  The Bulldogs only rushed for seven yards, but they are now 2-and-2 in Conference USA action.

A new season kicks off tonight for the Pelicans as New Orleans hosts the Chicago Bulls. Zion Williamson is questionable with an illness, Dejounte Murray is also questionable for personal reasons and Jose Alvarado is also questionable with a right knee.

The Bulls are a mediocre team in the Eastern Conference and Pels Coach Willie Green gives us a scouting report…

A federal judge in Baton Rouge heard arguments yesterday over the state law requiring the Ten Commandments to be posted in all public school classrooms. One of the plaintiffs, Unitarian Universalist Reverend Darcy Roake, says it’s not the state’s job to push religion on kids.

Reverend Roake said there are many kids, including her own, who don’t live by the Ten Commandments.

The state argued that the Ten Commandments have historical significance and is not overtly religious. The hearing included testimony from Steven K. Green of Willamette University, who the plaintiffs called as an expert witness. Attorney General Liz Murrill argued that Green’s testimony be excluded.

Murrill said Green failed to prove that the posting of the Ten Commandments in classrooms violates the First Amendment.

Judge John deGravelles (de-GRAVEL) is expected to issue a ruling by November 15th.

State Police is looking for the driver of the vehicle that struck a pedestrian on Interstate 20 in Richland Parish just east of Louisiana Highway 133. The crash claimed the life of 35-year-old Jared Osbon of West Monroe. Trooper Ryan Davis says investigators believe it was a 2021 or newer Ford Super Duty truck that hit him…

Davis says it’s likely the truck that struck Osbon sustained damage to the left front headlight assembly and grill.

Pedestrians should stay clear of interstates, including walking on the shoulder, median, and crossing lanes along the roadway.  Davis emphasized when walking along roads be sure there is a sidewalk…

The crash is under investigation and Davis urges anyone with information on this crash to contact Louisiana State Police – Troop F at 318-345-0000.

A genealogist has identified the remains of five enslaved people who are buried on the grounds of a proposed plastics facility in St. James Parish. The plant would be on the site of a former plantation owned by Benjamin Winchester. Lenora Gobert (go-BEAR) says the five people were between the ages of nine and 31 when they died.

The first names of the other two are Stanley and Henry. Gobert points out that it was standard practice back then to bury the remains of enslaved people at the plantations they worked at.

Gobert says these sites need to be treated just like any cemetery, with the utmost respect for those buried there.

Community groups have been battling Taiwan-based Formosa Plastics Group for years, trying to prevent it from putting up its 9.4-billion-dollar facility there. The company says it has fenced off the burial site for protection.

The Saints have lost five in a row and they are preparing to start rookie Spencer Rattler for a third consecutive game if Derek Carr is not healthy. Coach Dennis Allen Allen is hopeful Taysom Hill can return from fractured ribs and there’s a chance interior offensive linemen Lucas Patrick and Cesar Ruiz will return this weekend. The Chargers lost last night to the Cardinals 17 to 15.

RESET Louisiana has released a study on Governor Landry’s tax reform plan and it concludes that a vast majority of Louisiana citizens will see a tax cut. Landry’s tax proposal calls for a flat income tax and placing a sales tax on services that are not currently taxed. Lawmakers are expected to vote on the plan next month.
