This Saturday you’ll have the chance to see a bulldog run at over 180 miles per hour. ARCA Racing Series driver and Lafayette native Buster Graham will debut the number 17 Louisiana Tech Bulldog Ford Fusion in the Lucas Oil 200 stock car race. Tech spokesman, Dave Guerin, says this started with a benefactor who wanted to increase the exposure of the university’s brand…

The race, at Daytona International Speedway, is the first in the ARCA racing season and can be seen on Fox Sports 1 beginning at 3PM Saturday. Guerin says he has not seen a car in the ARCA series emblazoned with a university’s logo before. He says this is really a one-of-a-kind opportunity…

He says not only will you see the Tech colors on the car, but Graham, the rest of the pit crew, and everything with the race team will be representing the Bulldogs. Guerin aims to see the Tech blue and red streaking around the track more this ARCA season…

The Kenner Police Department says they’ve arrested a Mississippi woman who was allegedly driving drunk when she crashed into a cop car two times. Lt. Brian McGregor says officers pulled over a 2000 GMC pick-up truck, which was swerving on Williams Blvd in Kenner, driven by 46-year-old Debra Lynn White of Gulfport…:

White was booked with DWI, reckless operation and aggravated flight from an officer. McGregor says when the officers finally got White out of her vehicle, she was slurring her words and was clearly intoxicated…:

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office announces a reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for burglarizing a Thibodaux church last week. Spokesperson Brennan Matherne says a person or persons broke into the Old Fountain Baptist Church on Hwy 308…

He says those responsible broke into closets and filing cabinets looking for anything of value…

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s office says they are investigating KKK fliers that were left in several neighborhoods in the area. Lt. Tommy Carnline says the fliers have a picture of a hooded man on them and say “You can sleep well tonight knowing the Klan is awake”…:

LSU will have two freshmen in its weekend rotation when they start the season on Friday against Kansas. Sophomore left-hander Jared Poche will start on opening night, and freshman right-hander Alex Lange will start Saturday and another freshman righty, Jake Godfrey, will start on Sunday.

LSU needs a new wide receivers coach. As Adam Henry is leaving the Tigers for a job on the San Francisco 49ers coaching staff. Henry, who also played and coached at McNeese State, spent the last three seasons with LSU, helping Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham get to the NFL.

In the NBA tonight…the Pelicans host the Utah Jazz. New Orleans all-star Anthony Davis is questionable after injuring his shoulder in a loss to Chicago on Saturday night. In college hoops…Northwestern State hosts Stephen F Austin, the Demons will look to pack the Prather against the Lumberjacks who are undefeated in league play.

A Texas judge is expected to officially name former San Antonio mayor Phil Hardberger and estate lawyer Art Bayern as overseers of a trust that benefits Tom Benson’s heirs, today. The struggle over this trust fund is part of the larger feud concerning future ownership of the Saints and Pelicans.

The agent for Saints backup quarterback Luke McCown announced that his client is returning to the Black and Gold next season. He’s reportedly signed a one-year deal that will pay him 970-thousand dollars next year. The former Louisiana Tech QB has been with the Saints since the 2013 season.

Based on what football recruiting experts say, LSU’s 2015 class is ranked anywhere between the fifth best class in the nation to the 13th. While fans like focusing on the four and five star prospects, LSU Coach Les Miles says Jesuit tight end Foster Moreau is a three-star prospect to keep an eye on

Former Southeastern Louisiana star Wade Miley has signed a three-year contract extension with the Boston Red Sox. Miley will reportedly receive 19-million dollars over the course of the deal and there is an option for fourth year. Miley spent his first four seasons with Arizona, last year with the D-Backs he was 8-and-12 with a 4.34 ERA.

Yik Yak is an anonymous bulletin board where users can post comments that can be read by anyone within a 10 mile radius. Washington Parish Chief Deputy Mike Haley says parents are reporting their children have been bullied through the Yik Yak app…

A 32-year-old south Louisiana man faces several charges, including first-offense D-W-I, for his role in a head-on bus crash that injured several students. The collision occurred Tuesday morning in Livingston Parish and Sheriff Jason Ard says their investigation revealed Brandon Vince of Livingston was impaired at the time of the crash….

Vince is also charged with 17 counts of vehicular negligent injuring. The injuries to the school children were minor to moderate.

The Cajuns signed ten three-star prospects today, including Helen Cox quarterback Dion Ray, Lafayette kicker Stevie Artigue, Ouachita Parish tight end Carlos Robinson, Ascension Catholic defensive end Delmond Landry and cornerback Jeryl Brazil from East Mississippi community college.

According to scout-dot-com, ULM signed one three-star prospect and that’s Jaylen Veasley, who is six-foot-one, 265-pound defensive tackle Rockwall High School in Texas.

Scout has Louisiana Tech’s class as the fourth best in Conference USA. They have the Bulldogs signing eight three-star prospects including Neville defensive tackle Courtney Wallace, Northsside offensive tackle Oshea Dugas, and Loreauville wide reciever Rhashid Bonnette.
