The Saints have made some roster moves in response to two starters going down with signifcant injuries. Wide receiver Brandin Cooks and safety Rafael Bush have been put on injured-reserve, which means they can’t play again this year. Bush joins fellow safety Jairus Byrd on I-R, to make up for that loss, New Orleans has added Terrence Frederick and Pierre Warren to their 53 man roster. Frederick was on the Saints practice squad and Warren was with the Black and Gold during training camp. The Saints return to the practice field tomorrow to get ready for their Monday night matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.

The Pelcians are off tonight after beating Sacramento 106 to 100 last night. Anthony Davis led the way with 28 points and nine rebounds. Ryan Anderson came off the bench and hit four three-pointers and finished with 22 points. New Orleans is at Denver on Friday night.

The LSU men’s basketball team beat Texas Tech 69 to 64 in overtime last night. Jordan Mickey led four players in double figures with 18 points.

USA Today released its annual report on college football coaches salaries. Les Miles is the seventh highest paid coach according to the ranking at four-three-million dollars. Nick Saban is the highest paid. His total pay is seven-point-one million.

A win for Louisiana Tech on Saturday and the Bulldogs will clinch the Western Division of Conference USA. Head Coach Skip Holtz says he’s talked to his team about staying focused on their opponent, Old Dominion, and not worrying about the division standings…

The Pilgrims Pride plant in Natchitoches is listed as one of the nine worst chicken plants in the nation for animal cruelty. The list was compiled by Farm Sanctuary and the Animal Welfare Institute. Farm Sanctuary director of policy, Bruce Friedrich (FREED-rick), says they obtained plant violation information from the federal government through the Freedom of Information Act…

He says Pilgrims Pride is responsible for almost a fifth of all poultry production in the United States and they have three plants on the list. Friedrich says one violation that put the Natchitoches plant on the list was the report of workers routinely throwing live birds into bags of dead on arrival birds…

Nice win for the LSU men’s basketball team last night as they rallied to beat Texas Tech 69-64 in overtime. The Tigers trailed by 12 points at halftime, and scored four points in four and half-seconds in the final minute to tie the game. Jordan Mickey and Jarrell Martin led the way for LSU with double-doubles. Martin had 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Mickey had 18 points and 14 boards.

Also last night….McNeese state walloped Louisiana College 90 to 63. Austin Lewis set a new school record with 11 blocked shots. Also last night,. Grambling defeated Lyon College 55-49.

Anthony Davis had 28 points to help the Pelicans beat Sacramento 106-100 last night. Davis also had nine rebounds and three blocked shots. Ryan Anderson contributed 22 points off the bench as he hit four three-pointers. The Pels four-game road trip continues Friday in Denver.

The Saints will not return to the practice field until Thursday that’s because their next game is not until Monday night, when they host the Baltimore Ravens. New Orleans heads into the final six games of the season with a 4-and-6 record, but still tied for first place in the NFC South. Coach Sean Payton says his team has to take advantage of that opportunity…

Louisiana Tech hits the road this weekend looking to improve to 7-0 in Conference USA action. The Bulldogs are at Old Dominion who is 4-and-6 overall, 2-and-4 in the league. The former 32-year-old Destrehan High School teacher arrested for having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student has asked a judge to ease her house arrest restrictions. Shelley Dufrense is seeking to be allowed outside of her home from 7 A-M to 8 PM, so she can take her kids to school and attend an exercise class. Legal analyst Tim Meche says it’s likely the judge will grant Dufrense’s request…

According to court records, Dufrense would like to attend a Jazzercise class to help treat her depression and a mood disorder. Meche says judges react favorably in cases where a person is trying to improve their mental and physical health

Lake Charles Police have arrested three men accused of a violent home invasion last week that resulted in the sexual battery of a woman in the home. Sedric Green, Joshua Bryant, and Jaylin Jack, all 22-years-old, were arrested in connection with the crime. Chief Don Dixon says they believe the three targeted the home for a robbery…

Green and Bryant are charged with armed robbery, armed robbery with a firearm, second-degree kidnapping, and second-degree sexual battery. Their bond is set at $1 million each. Jack is charged with armed robbery with a bond of $600,000. Dixon calls this a senseless act of brutality…

It is alleged that the three men forced their way into the home, beat the woman who was there alone, and stole several items before leaving. Dixon says the victim did sustain physical injuries during the crime, but she is recovering…

State Farm announces they will increase auto insurance rates for its customers beginning December 8th. Spokesman Gary Stephenson says the statewide the overall rate will go up 3.6 percent on average for private passenger vehicles…:

Last night former LSU Tiger Zach Mettenberger threw for 263 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, but it wasn’t enough as Pittsburgh rallied to beat Tennessee 27-24.

In the NBA…The Pelicans blew a 16-point third quarter lead and lost to Portland 102-93.

The Louisiana Tech men’s basketball team gave up 48 points in the 2nd half last night and lost to Temple 85-72. The Owls did a lot of their damage from the free thow line where they were 34 of 49. Raheem Appleby had 26 points to lead Tech and the only other double-digit scorer for the Bulldogs was Erik McCree, who had 14 points.

Elsewhere last night…Northwestern State beat Lyon College 75-64. Nicholls State lost its season opener at North Texas, falling by the score of 71-57. ULM walloped Champion Baptist 106-39 and the Ragin Cajuns fell to Tulsa 64 to 53. Shawn Long had 15 points and four rebounds for U-L-L. He now has 700 rebounds in his college career.

And there are reports that U-L Lafayette defensive backs coach Tim Rebowe will be named the new head football coach at Nicholls State. Rebowe spent time with the Nicholls program in the late 1990s and filled several different roles.

More tough news for the Saints today after a brutal loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks could miss the next four to six games because of a broken thumb and it’s very possible safety Rafael Bush will miss the rest of the season because of a fractured fibula. New Orleans will try to snap a two-game losing streak next Monday, when they host the Baltimore Ravens.

Tonight on Monday night football…Zach Mettenberger will start at quarterback for the Titans who will host the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Sunday was a big day for running backs from Louisiana. Jeremy Hill had a career-high 152 yards rushing in the Bengals win over the Saints. Another former LSU Tiger, Alfred Blue, rushed for 156 yards on 36 carries in the Texans 23-7 victory over Cleveland. And former Dutchtown star, Eddie Lacy, had a 32-yard touchdown catch in the Packers 53-20 win over the Eagles.

LSU fans are still wondering today why true freshman Brandon Harris didn’t get a chance in LSU’s 17-0 win over Arkansas. Starting Q-B Anthony Jennings didn’t play well and Coach Les Miles admits they thought about putting Harris in the game…

U-L Lafayette announced today they will retire Charles Tillman’s number five jersey during this Saturday’s game against Appalachian State. The Cajuns have won six in a row and they are tied with Georgia Southern for first place in the Sun Belt.

Tonight in college hoops….the Ragin Cajuns are at Tulsa, Louisiana Tech visits Temple, Nicholls State travels to North Texas and Northwestern State hosts Lyon College.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred in Jeanerette last night. Major Ryan Turner says Jeanerette Police officers responded to a suspicious person complaint. When they arrived, they learned the suspect had fled. Turner says the officers found the suspect a short time later…

He says when officers caught up with the suspect, 42-year-old Lance Dauphine of Jeanerette, he brandished a knife at the officers. Turner says, as a result of the confrontation, Dauphine and one of the officer were taken to a local hospital…

Detectives learned that the suspect was shot after stabbing the officer. Both individuals have been released from the hospital. Turner says Dauphine was immediately taken into custody upon his release… (Dauphine is charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder of a police officer.)

West St. John High School in Edgard is mourning the death of one of its football coaches, who was killed early Sunday morning outside of a Baton Rouge nightclub. Authorities say Juan Joseph, who served as the Rams’ quarterbacks coach, got into an argument with some other men, when someone in a car fired shots. West St. John Head Coach Robert Valdez is in disbelief

The search continues for the man responsible for the fatal shooting. Joseph was 27-years-old and was the quarterback on West St. John’s 2003 and 2004 state title teams. Valdez says Coach Joseph will be missed

The National Weather Service has issued more freeze warnings for much of the state from 11pm tonight to 9am tomorrow morning. The Saints defense allowed former LSU running back Jeremy Hill to rush for 152 yards. And the Bengals converted 9-of-13 times on 3rd down. Coach Sean Payton says that’s unacceptable…

And the news keeps getting worse for the Saints. Rookie wide receiver Brandin Cooks is expected to miss the next month with a broken thumb. Brooks is the team’s second leading receiver and the team’s punt returner. And Saints Safety Rafael Bush has a broken fibula and is likely done for the season.

LSU’s offense looked as bad as it’s ever looked on Saturday in a 17-0 defeat to Arkansas. Terrence Magee was LSU’s leading rusher and he only had 24 yards on seven carries. The senior from Franklington says losing two in a row is no fun…

Quarterback Anthony Jennings threw for only 87 yards and sacked four times. He also had a fumble. Coach Les Miles said they stuck with Jennings, instead of bringing in Brandon Harris, because Jennings gave them the best chance to win.

In other college football action…the Ragin Cajuns won their sixth straight on Saturday as they defeated U-L-M 34-27. The Warhawks have lost six in a row, the last four have been by single digits.

Grambling State’s seven game winning streak ended on Saturday with a 27-23 loss to Alabama State.

It’s possible you haven’t thought about next year’s elections in Louisiana, but a research firm has already polled voters on the 2015 ballot. Multi-Quest pollster John Scurich says in the race for Governor, US Senator David Vitter leads with 25.9 percent followed by Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne with 10.9 percent. He says 53% are undecided

Scurich says most voters will likely become more involved in next year’s races after the first of the year when the state Senate and Congressional races are over. Even so he says this early on, Vitter looks to be in good shape…:

LSU’s offense failed to score a single point on a frigid night in Fayetteville as they lost to the Razorbacks 17-0 on Saturday. The Tigers only rushed for 36 yards and had 123 total yards as LSU fell to 3-and-4 in the SEC. Coach Les Miles didn’t have many answers after the game…
