The Saints came up short again last night and fell to the Baltimore Ravens 34-27 to fall to 4-and-7 on the year. Quarterback Drew Brees threw for 420 yards and three touchdowns. He was also intercepted once and that was returned 44-yards for a touchdown. The loss drops the Saints record to 4-and-7 and Brees says this losing is no fun…

Despite the losing record, the Saints are tied for first place in the NFC South with Atlanta. New Orleans is at Pittsburgh this Sunday, while the Falcons host the Arizona Cardinals.

The Pelicans are home tonight to take on the Sacramento Kings. No Eric Gordon tonight for the Pels, he’ll be sindelined for awhile because of a shoulder injury. New Orleans is hoping to get Center Omer Asik back in the line-up. He’s missed the last four games because of a back injury.

LSU will leave tomorrow for its Thanksgiving match-up with Texas A-and-M. It’s the Tigers first game on Turkey Day since 1983, when they beat Tulane 20-7 in the Louisiana Superdome. Anthony Jennings is expected to start once again at quarterback and Coach Les Miles has given no indication on whether Brandon Harris will play.

Louisiana Tech will host Rice on Saturday. The winner is the west division champ in Conference USA. Bulldogs Coach Skip Holtz says they had a feeling the West would be won on the last game of the season…

A Moreauville family is fighting the town that is trying to enact a ban on vicious dogs. Joanna Armand, whose family owns a pit bull named Zeus, is fighting to lift that ban. Armand began an online petition and it has already generated over 245,000 signatures. She’s also reaching out to dog owners in Moreauville and Avoyelles Parish…

Moreauville passed an ordinance banning pit bulls and rottweilers from town limits. If the ban goes into effect, the family would be forced to give up one-year-old Zeus, who has no history of aggressive behavior. Armand says giving up Zeus would devastate her family since the dog provides love and support for four of her children who have special needs…

Armand calls Zeus a “Mom’s Helper” for the role he has taken with her children. It’s reported the ordinance was passed because several residents said they were chased by dogs in neighborhoods, although no attacks have been documented. The ban was to go into effect December 1, but that date has been put on hold. Armand feels the town handled this situation in the wrong way…

The Saints struggles continued last night as they fell to Baltimore 34-27. The defense struggled to contain Ravens running back Justin Forsett, who rushed for a career-high 182 yards and his 20-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter sent Who Dat fans home from the Superdome. Quarterback Drew Brees threw for 420 yards and three touchdown passes. But his one interception was returned 44 yards for a touchdown. New Orleans is now 4-and-7, but still tied with Atlanta for first place in the NFC South.

In the NBA…the seven and five Pelicans are back at home tonight following a four-game road trip. They host Sacramento at seven P-M. No Eric Gordon tonight, he’s out indefinitely with a shoulder injury.

In college hoops yesterday….LSU finished the Paradise Jam tournament in sixth place by losing to Clemson 64 to 61 yesterday. The Ragin Cajuns lost in Las Vegas yesterday as they fell to Milwaukee 56-52.

LSU has only a couple more days to prepare for Thursday night’s match-up against Texas A-and-M. The Tigers have won the two previous meetings against A-and-M, since the Aggies joined the Southeastern Conference. In both contests, LSU’s defense slowed down an A-and-M offense led by Johnny Manziel. Coach Les Miles says the Aggies offense hasn’t changed much since “Johnny Football” departed…

A win tonight and the Saints will be back in first place in the NFC south, despite a 5-and-6 record. Baltimore also needs to win badly to keep pace in a highly compeitive AFC North. Expect the Ravens to give the ball to running back Justin Forsett. He’s rushed for 721 yards and he’s averaigng 5.4 yards per carry. Kick-off from the Mercedes Benz Superdome is at 7:30 PM.

The Pelicans announce shooting guard Eric Gordon is out indefinitely after an M-R-I showed that he tore the labrum in his shoulder during Saturday’s win over Utah. Gordon is averaging 9.5 points a game and had missed 115 games during his first three seasons in New Orleans because of injuries.

LSU football Coach Les Miles said today that sophomore Ethan Pocic will start at center on Thursday when the Tigers take on Texas A-and-M. Pocic has been the starter at right guard for most of the season. Evan Washington will start at right guard.

Louisiana Tech is back at practice, after suffering an overtime loss to Old Dominion. The Bulldogs can still win the West Division of the Conference USA if they beat Rice this Saturday. Tech Head Coach Skip Holtz says they can’t let last weekend’s loss linger…

The Ragin Cajuns had their six-game winning streak snapped on Saturday as Appalachian State knocked off U-L Lafayette 35-16 on Senior Day. Quarterback Terrance Broadway did not have a good performance in his final game at Cajun Field. The senior from Baton Rouge threw for only 160 yards and he was held to two yards rushing. Coach Mark Hudspeth gives a lot of credit to the Mountaineers defense…

The average price for a Thanksgiving dinner for 10 will cost $49.41, 37 cents more than last year. Louisiana Farm Bureau Association’s Avery Davidson says the biggest price hikes you’ll see are your proteins, particularly turkey and beef…

A recent State Farm survey found drivers are still texting and driving, even though they know its dangerous. 52 percent of those polled admit they have talked on a cell phone while driving and 34 percent say they have texted while driving.  State Farm Spokesperson Gary Stephenson says there has been an increase in the use of hands free cell phones.

Stephenson says 77 percent of young drivers say they believe they can safely text while driving. But he says some people acknowledged when the road conditions were bad, they reduced their cell phone use.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration says 80 percent of crashes are due to distracted driving. Stephenson says drivers now use their phones to read emails, access social media and use the internet, in addition to texting.

According to a report from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, homelessness in Louisiana has declined nearly 12 percent since last year and roughly 63 percent since 2010. Louisiana Housing Corporation Executive Director Fred Tombar says one of the key factors in reducing homelessness in Louisiana has been the state’s implementation of the $146 million dollar Permanent Supportive Housing Program…:

The Ragin Cajuns fell out of a tie for first place in the Sun Belt Conference as they lost to Appalachian State 35-16 on Saturday at Cajun Field. The Mountaineers dominated at the line of scrimmage, rushing for 232 yards. Appalachian State running back Marcus Cox rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Cajuns Coach Mark Hudspeth says his defense got away from its gap responsibilities…

Tonight is the regular season finale for Nicholls State and Southeastern Louisiana as the two teams battle for the River Bell Classic trophy. Southeastern Louisiana can earn a share of the Southland conference championship with a win. S-L-U is known for putting a lot of points on the board, but Colonels interim head coach Steve Axman says he’s just as impressed with the Lions defense…

Louisiana Tech leaves tomorrow for Norfolk, Virginia where they’ll play Old Dominion on Saturday. The Bulldogs are undefeated in league play and can clinch the west division in Conference USA with a victory. Kick-off is at noon and the game can be seen on Fox College sports.

Northwestern State, the last team to beat Louisiana Tech, is at Stephen F Austin. The Demons are still hopeful for an at-large spot in the F-C-S playoffs. So is McNeese State who hosts Lamar in a rivalry game. ULM is at New Mexico State and Tulane travels to East Carolina.

Grambling State first year head coach Broderick Fobbs is one of 20 finalists for the 2014 Eddie Robinson Award, which is presented to the top coach in the FCS. The Tigers are 7-1 in the SWAC.

ULM has announced they’ve raised five-point-five million dollars in the last eight months for its athletic programs. The Warhawks plan on building a new end zone facility, renovating the weight room inside Malone Stadium and the compleition of a hitting facility for the baseball team is in its final stages.

State Police say five family members, who were heading to Walt Disney World in Florida, were killed in a single vehicle accident on I-20 in Ouachita Parish last night. Three of the victims were juveniles. Trooper Michael Reichardt says a 16-year-old behind the wheel at the time of the accident…

He says six people were ejected from the vehicle and five were pronounced dead at the scene. The others were taken to area hospitals for treatment for their injuries. Reichardt says authorities were able to talk to the 16-year-old driver…

Reichardt says the 16-year-old is a licensed driver in his home state of Texas. He says, as far as they know, the driver was the only one wearing a seat belt. A new study from the US Geological Survey finds there’s less than a one-percent chance of the Louisiana black bear population becoming extinct in the next 100 years. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries biologist, Maria Davidson, says this report could result in the Louisiana Black Bear’s removal from the Endangered Species List

Davidson says they don’t have an exact number of how many Louisiana black bears are out there. She can say it’s relatively small, but healthy population…

It’s estimated there were only 80 to 120 Louisiana black bears in the 1950s. The study found that more than half of the Black Bears now alive, are in the northeastern part of the state in the Tensas River Basin. Davidson says the report also indicates the bears are moving from one region to another

A new poll on the 6th Congressional District runoff shows Republican Garret Graves with a large lead over Democrat former governor Edwin Edwards. The JMC Analytics and Polling survey shows Graves with 59 percent of the vote with Edwards getting 34 percent. Pollster John Couvillon says the numbers show that Republicans have really gotten behind Graves as the GOP nominee…

Graves has agreed to at least one debate with Edwards, although few think that any debate will have a noticeable impact in this race. Couvillon points out that throughout this campaign, Edwards support has remained in the 35-percent range…

When asked if true freshman Brandon Harris will play a week from today against Texas A-and-M, LSU Coach Les Miles said he’s not ready to say. On his radio show, Miles says the quarterback that will play is the one that gives the team the best chance to win, but the difference between Harris and Anthony Jennings is becoming closer.

This Saturday U-L Lafayette looks for its seventh straight win as they host Appalachian State. Ragin Cajuns Quarterback Terrance Broadway is just 73 total yards away from passing Jake Delhomme for first place on the school’s total offense leaders list.

And tonight it’s the River Bell Classic as Nicholls State hosts Southeastern Louisiana in the regular season finale. S-L-U is eight-and-3 overall, while the Colonels are winless, but Lions Coach Ron Roberts says anything can happen in a rivalry game…

The Saints return to the practice field today as they get ready for Monday night’s match-up against the Baltimore Ravens. New Orleans has reportedly added Jalen Saunders to their roster. He’s a wide receiver and punt returner, a former fourth round pick of the Jets and was on Seattle’s practice squad when the Saints signed him. One other note, Quarterback Drew Brees has never defeated the Ravens in three previous meetings.

In the NBA, the Pelicans are off tonight. Through ten games this season, New Orleans is 6-and-4 and they’ll visit four and seven Denver tomorrow night.

Last night in the Association, former LSU Tiger Brandon Bass had 23 points as Boston beat Philadelphia 101-90. The 76ers are 0-and-11.

In college hoops action tonight…Southern is at Ole Miss, Tulane hosts Mississppi Valley State. U-N-O is at TCU. Nicholls State is at UCLA.
