This Saturday’s LSU-South Carolina game has been re-located from Columbia, South Carolina to Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge. It will start at 2:30 PM. The catastrophic flooding in Columbia forced South Carolina officials to move the contest and LSU is glad to host the contest, giving the Tigers five home games in the SEC.

In 2005, LSU had to move one of its scheduled home game against Arizona State to Tempe, Arizona because of Hurricane Katrina. So LSU Coach Les Miles understands what Coach Steve Spurrier and the Gamcocks are going through. LSU won that game in 2005 and Miles credits the players…

According to the LSU ticket office, the deadline for season ticket holders to purchase tickets has been set at 5 PM tomorrow. Whatever tickets are left on sale will be sold to the general public at 6 PM on Thursday.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees said he told Coach Sean Payton to take him off the injury report. Brees says his shoulder is fine and he’ll be more than ready for this Sunday’s game at Philadelphia. Meanwhile, the Saints have signed punter Brandon Fields, because of an injury to regular punter Thomas Morestead.

In the major league baseball playoffs…former LSU pitcher Will Harris pitched a perfect eighth inning to help the Houston Astros blank the Yankees three to nothing. The Astros advance to play Kansas City in a best of five division series.

In basketball…LSU freshman Ben Simmons is on C-B-S Sports -dot-com preseason All-America team.

And Louisiana Tech has been picked to finish fifth in the 14-team Conference USA. That’s according to a vote by the league’s coaches. Guard Alex Hamilton and forward Erik McCree were selected to the preseason all-conference team.

The commercial tells the story about how Edwards and his wife decided to go through with a pregnancy, despite the child being diagnosed with spina bifda. The commercial features family photos that includes pictures of Edwards’ time in the Army. ULM political science professor Joshua Stockley says this is a way for Edwards to remind voters of his background…

The state department of corrections says the that prisoner who was accidentally released from prison is back in Louisiana. Spokesperson Pam LaBorde says 32-year-old Benjuiel Johnson is at Angola. Johnson, who was convicted on manslaughter, was released as a result of an error by department of corrections worker. Johnson was found last Friday at a motel in an Atlanta suburb.

In a blog post following the mass shooting at an Oregon community college, Governor Bobby Jindal says the gunman’s father is partly to blame for the deadly incident. Jindal says the killer’s father was never in his son’s life and failed to raise his son. LSU Health Sciences Assistant Professor of Psychiatry Kristopher Kaliebe (ka-LEE-bee) says the governor does have a point.

In a statement from F. King Alexander, he says students have the right to learn in an environment free of sexual harassment and verbal abuse. Cope says they’re not talking about the guilt or innocence of the teacher, just the process by which she was fired.

The principal and a coach at Beau Chene High School have been arrested as a result of an investigation by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s office. Captain Clay Higgins says the two men maintain they were attempting to discipline a student, but the alleged victim has a different story…

There’s talk of moving this Saturday’s L-S-U-South Carolina game because of the deadly flooding that’s occurred in the Palmetto State. If the game can’t be played in Columbia, South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner says a neutral site location is a possibility and so is playing the game in Tiger Stadium.

Improving the passing game is a priority. The Tigers rank 124th in the nation in passing.

The Saints have reportedly signed punter Brandon Fields after he worked out for the Black and Gold today. Fields was the Dolphins punter for eight seasons and made the Pro Bowl in 2013. He was cut earlier this year after losing to rookie Matt Darr in a training camp battle. Fields is needed on the Saints roster, because Thomas Morestead has an injured groin.

And to make room for Fields on the roster, it’s been reported that the Saints have released veteran safety Kenny Phillips. He started three games for New Orleans. This could be a sign that Jairus Byrd is ready to see more snaps, after returning last week from a knee injury.

A memorial service for ULM quarterback Daniel Fitzwater is set for 11am tomorrow morning at Calvary Baptist in Shreveport. The 20-year-old suddenly passed away Saturday and according to the family the cause of death had not yet been determined. ULM learned of Fitzwater’s death just hours before the homecoming game against George Southern.

Miles says he’s not afraid to shuffle the line-up in order to get more production out of his receivers.

LSU is scheduled to play South Carolina this Saturday, but can they play in Columbia, because of the historic flooding that’s taking place in the Palmetto state. South Carolina athletics director Ray Tanner says there have been discussions about moving the game to another city, possibly Baton Rouge. An official decision is expected in 24-36 hours.

The Saints are off today but the coaches are apparently trying out kickers and punters. Fox Sports reporter Alex Marvez says the Saints are planning kicker tryouts after Zach Hocker missed a 30-yard field goal against Dallas. Marvez says the Saints also has four punters in town, because Thomas Morstead is dealing with a groin injury.

The most anticipated LSU basketball season in a long time is underway. Coach Johnny Jones’ team is practicing, but prized recruit Ben Simmons missed the first practice with an ankle injury that is not considered serious. LSU will have 30 preseason workouts leading up to the regular season opener against McNeese State on November 13th.

Nicholls State has broken ground on a five-million dollar renovation on Ray E. Didier Field. Nicholls President Bruce Murphy says the renovation will turn the school’s baseball stadium into one of the best in the Southland Conference. The first phase of the renovation includes a modernized press box that will feature a new sound system and the lighting for the field will be enhanced.
