State Police is alerting the public about fraudulent LSP solicitation phone calls. Troopers say the impersonators contact the phones of potential victims by using a call that appears to be originating from Troop A. The caller is pretending to be law enforcement and attempting to gain personal information. Never give unsolicited callers any personal information.

NFL and college football analyst Mike Detilier believes offensive coordinator Matt Canada has coached his last game at LSU. Detillier says Canada would like to get a head coaching gig, plus he believes Ed Orgeron is not that excited about Canada’s offense. If Canada is not here for the bowl game. Detillier expects Coach O will call on tight ends coach Steve Ensminger to serve as O-C for the bowl game, but he’ll need to find someone else to call plays in 2018….

Meanwhile, Mississippi State has hired Penn State offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead as the Bulldogs new head coach. The 44-year-old is known for his creative offenses.

State senator Sharon Hewitt of Slidell is calling on Louisiana Legislative Auditor Daryl Purpera to review the state’s sexual harassment policies and she also wants an investigation into the hiring of Johnny anderson. Anderson is a former aide to Governor Edwards, who resigned last week after sexual harassment allegations surfaced. Hewitt is seeking recommenations on how the state can strengthen it’s policies, procedures and laws pertaining to sexual harassment.

Television journalist Matt Lauer is the latest well-known name to lose his job for sexual misconduct. Why are we seeing so many accusations occurring and leading to the dismissal of some high-profile people? A Denham Springs woman has been arrested for filing a false police report after she allegedly told authorities she was raped by a Livingston Parish deputy.  State Police say 38-year-old Sherri Penton and the unidentified deputy met on a social dating website in mid-October.  State Trooper Bryan Lee explains what happened…

After the incident, Penton went to a hospital claiming she was sexually assaulted.  That is when Lee says State Police became involved.  During their investigation, conflicting statements from Penton were revealed…

DNA tests cleared the deputy of any wrongdoing.  Penton was arrested and charged with Filing a False Complaint against Law Enforcement.  Lee says when a law officer is accused, they seriously take any allegations cast against them…

Louisiana is falling further behind in rainfall.  The recent arid conditions is blamed on the current La Nina pattern that is in place.  State Climatologist Barry Keim says there has been very little rain this fall…

A warm and dry winter is predicted for Louisiana.  Keim says much of north Louisiana is already seeing drought conditions…

An updated three-month forecast is due from the Climate Prediction Center tomorrow.  Keim says he expects more of the same.  With this weather pattern, he says the strong La Nina will keep moisture from coming south…

The North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un ordered the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile yesterday that landed in the Sea of Japan. Retired U.S. Army Lt. Honore predicts North Korea has about 12 nuclear warheads and the U.S. has about 3,900. He says the size of Kim Jong Un’s army is not to fight outside countries, it’s to control his people.

U.S. officials says these missiles launched by North Korea could comfortably reach anywhere in America. Honore says South Koreans need to be more aggressive getting information inside of the communist country. He says it’s a hard task to unify the Korean peninsula because not everyone wants it done.

Many says the general consciousness of sexual assault and harassment has been raised over the last 10 or so years. She says it’s time for employers to take another look at this issue and establish a protocol in the event allegations come out.

Last Saturday, LSU’s offense had 601 yards of total offense against Texas A-and-M. But for the season, the Tigers rank 54th nationally in total offense, 72nd in scoring and 84th in passing. Head Coach Ed Orgeron said Saturday night he hopes offensive coordinator Matt Canada finds a head coaching job. Football analyst Mike Detillier says Orgeron might not be a fan of all the shifting and motion that Canada’s offense displays….

As of now, there’s not much interest in Canada as a head coach. There’s a report Canada is interested in the vacancy at Rice and at the same time, he was recruiting a quarterback in California for LSU this week.

The Saints offense didn’t look good last Sunday in the loss to the Rams and this week they’ll face the Carolina Panthers who rank second in the NFL in total defense. Carolina has also won four in a row. Kick-off on Sunday is at noon.

Tonight in the NBA, the Pelicans will host the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Smoothie King Center. The Pelicans have won four of their last five at home.

LSU is back home tonight to face U-T Martin. The Skyhawks won 22 games last season, but they lost a dozen players off that team and they are just 1-and-5 on the season. Louisiana Tech is at 24th ranked Alabama. The Bulldogs are off to a 5-0 start, while the Crimson Tide are 5-and-1.

Last night, the Ragin Cajuns made 11 three-pointers as the Cajuns defeated McNeese State 89-78. Malik Marquetti drained five threes and finished with a career-high 17 points.

Southeastern Louisiana won its fourth straight last night beating Loyola of New Orleans 80-53. Jordan Capps had 21 points.

And ULM never trailed in its 65-52 win over Jackson State. The Warhawks have won three of their last four.

Legislation to overhaul the nation’s tax code heads to the Senate floor. The G-O-P says the bill will lower personal income taxes and corporate taxes. Louisiana’s junior U-S Senator John Kennedy says he supports a tax reform plan that will mean less money for government and more dollars for taxpayers….

The suspected killer accused in the random shooting deaths of three people has pleaded not guilty to two of the murders which occurred in East Feliciana Parish. 36-year-old Ryan Sharpe entered two pleas there this morning and requested a public defender. Sharpe also allegedly shot and killed a man in East Baton Rouge Parish.

With his 347 yard passing performance in the victory over Texas A-and-M, LSU’s Danny Etling became the fifth quarterback to throw for over 2,000 yards in multiple seasons. Etling was the last LSU player to come down victory hill outside of Tiger Stadium before the regular season finale. He went on to have one of his best games. UL Lafayette Football Coach Mark Hudspeth is expected to make a decision today on who will start at quarterback this Saturday against Appalachian State. It will be either senior Jordan Davis who threw for 225 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions as he came off the bench in the 34-24 loss to Georgia Southern. Or it could be freshman Levi Lewis, who started against Georgia Southern, but was ineffective and replaced by Davis.

The Saints return to practice tomorrow to begin preparations for Sunday’s NFC South showdown against the Panthers. New Orleans beat Carolina earlier this year, but Panthers QB Cam Newton looks much healthier now. Both teams are 8-and-3 and tied for first place.

Governor John Bel Edwards participated in a criminal justice reform event organized by the Pew Charitable Trusts in Washington DC today. The Edwards Administration helped passed ten new laws allowing for the early release of nearly two-thousand non-violent prisoners. Nearly two-thousand were released last month. Edwards says he kept his campaign promise to lower the jail population…

But Republican U-S Senator John Kennedy says some of the career criminals released are already back in jail…

Kennedy goes on to say that inmates were released, even though a state audit found the department of corrections is having a hard time keeping proper tabs on where inmates are located.

State Police say a 49-year-old Slidell man was killed when a boat struck his vehicle while he was traveling in St. James Parish. Trooper Jesse LaGrange says the boat trailer detached from a vehicle that was towing it, striking David Burvant’s vehicle. Burvant died from his injuries. LaGrange reminds reminds drivers towing a boat, double check to make sure your connections are secure…
