The Tigers are 7-2 and ranked ninth in the country heading into Saturday’s game against Arkansas.

The Saints are 7-1 but they are looking for another wide receiver and they are reportedly bringing in former Cowboy Dez Bryant for a work out. Brandon Marshall is another veteran receiver who will get a try out today. Michael Thomas is having a great season, but none of the other receivers have really stood out. Ted Ginn Junior is on injured reserve and Cam Meredith, who was signed in the offseason, has been a bust so far.

The Pelicans lost their sixth straight game last night as they fell to Oklahoma City 122 to 116 at Chesapeake Energy Arena. The Pels turned it over 21 times and that led to 28 points, while the Thunder turned it over just a dozen times. Head Coach Alvin Gentry on finishing an 0-and-5 road trip…

National pollsters predict a tight race for Congress today, giving Democrats a slight edge to retake the lower chamber, but next to no chance to gain control of the Senate. Democrats are cautious, but confident of their chances in the House, and Democratic Congressman Cedric Richmond says that’s due to a strong pro-working class message.

But Republican Congressman Ralph Abraham predicts the economy’s recent growth will lead to a narrow majority for the House GOP.

When voters head to the polls today, they will see the question asking if fantasy sports betting should be legalized in their parish. Not everyone is on board with the idea. Louisiana Family Forum President Gene Mills says fantasy sports betting could result in a domino effect that sees the integrity of sports put at stake.

But supporters of the measure say fantasy sports betting is already taking place and if its legalized the state can receive tax revenues from it.

Sunday’s 45-35 win over the Los Angeles Rams has New Orleans in position to be the number one seed in the N-F-C playoffs. There are question marks about the Black and Gold’s defense, but you have to give them credit in holding Todd Gurley to just 68 yards rushing.

With three games left, ULM is in first place in the Sun Belt West Division and the Warhawks are on a three-game winning streak after upsetting Georgia Southern 44-25. A Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Deputy was involved in a fatal crash this morning while apparently responding to a burglary in progress. State Police Trooper Thomas Gossen says 31-year-old Jessie Blanchard of Iowa was hit by deputy’s vehicle on LA Highway 3020 and died from his injuries…

State Police is investigating a fatal crash involving an on-duty Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s deputy. Troopers say 23-year-old Craig Guillory of Lake Charles was traveling east on LA Highway 3020 and hit a pedestrian, who was wearing dark colored clothing. 31-year-old Jessie Blanchard of Iowa suffered serious injuries and died as a result of the crash.

The Dome was rockin yesterday as the Saints jumped to the number one seed in the NFC with a 45-35 victory over the previously unbeaten LA Rams. The win means the road to the Super Bowl in the NFC currently runs through NOLA, QB Drew Brees.

It was another big game for Brees, who threw for 346 yards and four touchdowns as he continued to build his M-V-P resume.

Elsewhere…Carolina won again to stay within one game of the Saints in the NFC South as the Panthers defeated Bucs 42-28. The Falcons are 4-4 now after beating Washington 38-14. Matt Ryan threw four TD passes.

The Pelicans end a five-game road trip tonight in Oklahoma City. New Orleans will try to snap a five-game losing streak. The Pels have struggled on the defensive end. Tip-off is at 7 PM.

Six constitutional amendments are on tomorrow’s ballot and the one receiving the most interest is Amendment Two. That’s the one that requires unanimous jury verdicts in felony cases. Former district attorney Ed Tarpley has been traveling the state, encouraging voters to vote “Yes” and he says our founding fathers thought it ws vital for American justice to have unanimous verdicts to get a convication for a serious crime…

State Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed by a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s unit responding to a burglary in progress call this morning. Sheriff Tony Mancuso says the pedestrain was walking in the middle of the street, wearing dark clothes and the deputy apparently couldn’t see through the fog.

After a disappointing Saturday night in Tiger Stadium, the Saints gave Louisiana football fans something to be proud of on Sunday…

It’s asking voters if Louisiana should join nearly every other state and require a unanimous jury decision for a guilty verdict in a felony case. The current standard calls for 10 of 12 jurors to agree on a guilty verdict. District Attorney for Livingston and Tangipahoa Scott Perrilloux says the 10 of 12 standard is legal and should not be changed…
