The LSU women’s basketball team outscored Florida State 31-6 in the third quarter and went on to beat the Seminoles 101 to 71. It was a team effort as Mikalyah Williams had 28 points, Aneesah Morrow had 26 points, Sa,Myah Smith had 20 points, Flau’jae Johnson had 13 points and Lafayette’s Jada Richard had six points.

LSU will play second-seeded North Carolina State on Friday in the Sweet 16 in Spokane. Washington.

Three players from the LSU men’s basketball team—Tyrell Ward, Corey Chest, and Mike Williams — have entered the transfer portal.

LSU Gymnastics earned its first-ever number one seed in the NCAA Championships. The Tigers will compete in the Penn State Regional on April 3rd.

LSU baseball stumbled six spots in the D-1 baseball poll to number eight after losing its first series of the season to Texas.

LSU hosts the Ragin Cajuns tonight. Last weekend U-L Lafayette took two of three from South Alabama to improve to 3-and-3 in Sun Belt play. Louisiana Tech fresh off a series win against Sam Houston hosts Grambling tonight. The Tigers won two of three from Texas Southern last weekend and scored 46 runs.

 

A player that is making an impact on LSU’s offense during spring practice is. tight end Bauer Sharp who was Oklahoma’s leading receiver last season.  Coach Brian Kelly says Sharp is a good fit in the locker room and on the field…

The LSU baseball team had its 17-game winning streak snapped on Saturday and now it has a two-game losing streak after losing on Saturday and Sunday to Texas. In the D-1 Baseball poll, the Tigers are ranked eighth. Tennessee remains the number one ranked team followed by Arkansas and Georgia.

At spring practice on Saturday. LSU’s first-team offensive line was Tyree Adams, Paul Mubenga, DJ Chester at center, Coen Echols and Weston Davis. Transfers Braelin Moore and Josh Thompson were working mostly with the second team. Head Coach Brian Kelly says the competition to start on the offensive line is fierce…

The Will Wade era is over at McNeese State, and it was a ride. Wade led the Cowboys to back-to-back Southland Conference championships and two trips to the NCAA Tournament. He was out of coaching after being fired by LSU in 2022 because of recruiting violations. He sat out the 2022-23 season and was hired by McNeese in March of 2023…

Following Saturday’s NCAA Tournament loss to Purdue, Wade signed a six-year contract to be the new head coach at North Carolina State.

ULM needs a new women’s basketball coach as Missy Bilderback has taken the head coaching job at Southern Miss. And McNeese introduced Ayla Guzzardo as its new women’s basketball coach. Guzzardo spent the last eight seasons at Southeastern Louisiana, leading the Lady Lions to two of the last three Southland championships.

The U-S Supreme Court heard arguments today over whether Louisiana’s Congressional map with two majority Black districts is unconstitutional because race was allegedly the primary factor in drawing up the second Black majority district. Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill (Merle) hopes the ruling will help states comply with the Voting Rights Act, while also not violating the 14th Amendment’s ban on drawing districts based on race…

The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating the person or persons responsible for a mass shooting at trail ride event in Clarence on Saturday night that wounded four people, including two teenagers. Captain Tony Moran…

Hearts are heavy in St. Tammany Parish after a deputy sheriff is killed in the line of duty. Andrew Greenstein reports.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office says one of its deputies shot a man who had a put a gun to a woman’s head. That woman and her two children escaped the residence unharmed and when authorities arrived at the home, they found 40-year-old Matthew Calloway pacing inside. Authorities say Calloway came out of the house, walking backwards and then suddenly turned toward deputies and pulled out a firearm. He was shot and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The LSU baseball team dropped six spots to number eight in the D-1 Baseball poll after losing its first series of the 2025 season. Texas took two of three from the Tigers as LSU’s pitching was not that sharp. Kade Anderson, Zac Cowan and Casan Evans pitched well, but others struggled with command.

LSU hosts U-L Lafayette tomorrow night. The Cajuns won two of three at South Alabama this past weekend. Southern Miss swept ULM, Louisiana Tech opened Conference USA play with a series victory over Sam Houston.

On Saturday, LSU football received a commitment Destrehan wide receiver Jabari Mack. The four-star wide out in the Class of 2026 also had offers from Texas, Texas A-and-M, Ohio State and Alabama. LSU has four receivers in its 2026 class, including the nation’s top wide out Tristen Keys.

LSU gymnastics is the number one seed heading into the NCAA post season after winning its second straight SEC Championship meet on Saturday night.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office is mourning the death of Sergeant Grant Candies who died while trying to end a police chase involving a 17-year-old driver. Candies was killed when the juvenile driver hit him as he was deploying a spike strip on Interstate 10 early Sunday morning. The pursuit ended in Orleans Parish when the 17-year-old crashed into a New Orleans police vehicle.

If your driver’s license is set to expire, go ahead and wait a few days before renewing it. Andrew Greenstein reports.

The U-S Supreme Court will listen to arguments today on a lawsuit that claims Louisiana’s Congressional map is not constitutional because the district currently occupied by Democrat Cleo Fields was drawn strictly based on race, which is an alleged violation of the Equal Protection Clause. But Louisiana ACLU executive director Alanah Odoms says a second Black majority district is needed to give Black voters fair and equal representation…

Alexandria Senator Jay Luneau has filed legislation to do something about drivers on a four-lane highway driving slow in the left-lane and causing a rolling roadblock. Current law allows law enforcement to ticket a motorist driving ten miles or more slower than the posted speed limit, but Luneau says that’s hard to enforce…

Luneau’s legislation, which will be heard in the upcoming regular session, would make it a 150-dollar fine for motorists driving in the left lane and slow speed and not looking to pass other vehicles.

The U-S Supreme Court hears arguments today on whether Louisiana’s current Congressional map is constitutional. Plaintiffs in the case argue it’s not because the creation of a second majority minority district was drawn based on race and it’s illegal gerrymandering under the Equal Protection Clause.

Civil rights groups believe Louisiana’s current Congressional map is legal, because a third of the state’s black voting population is black, so two of the state’s six Congressional districts should be represented by minorities. Louisiana ACLU executive director Alanah Odoms…

The first map the Legislature approved following the 2020 census was ruled unconstitutional because it did not contain two black majority districts.

 

A bill filed for the upcoming regular session aims to impose stricter penalties on drivers who block the left lane by driving under the speed limit and are not looking to pass. Alexandria Senator Jay Luneau says his proposal promotes highway safety and reduces driver frustration.

Luneau’s legislation calls for a 150-dollar fine for first-time offenders.

The second ranked LSU baseball team lost its first series of the year as they dropped the rubber game on Sunday to Texas six to two. LSU had a chance to win the series on Saturday, but the bullpen could not come through.

Louisiana Tech won its Conference USA opening series, the Ragin Cajuns took two of three from South Alabama. ULM was swept by 19th ranked Southern Miss. McNeese and Northwestern State went on the road and won Southland conference series.

Will Wade led McNeese to its first-ever NCAA Tournament win on Thursday, but they were no match for Purdue on Saturday as the Boilermakers beat the Cowboys 76 to 62…

Wade now heads to North Carolina State to be the new head coach of the Wolfpack.

LSU football worked a lot on its running game during Saturday’s spring practice. The Tigers ranked 107th in the country in rushing offense in 2024. Coach Brian Kelly says they will be more committed to the ground game in 2025…

And it doesn’t look like John Emery is returning to LSU. The former five-star running back from Destrehan announced last week that he plans to play a seventh season of college football, but Kelly said on Saturday his running back room is set with four scholarship players and possibly a fifth if Trey Holly returns.

The LSU women’s basketball team will look to advance to the Sweet 16 today as they face Florida State at the PMAC. ULM needs a new women’s basketball coach as Missy Bilderback has taken the head coaching job at Southern Miss.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s office is mourning the death of Sergeant Grant Candies. The 37-year-old Candies was killed early Sunday morning while deploying a spike strip on Interstate 10 as authorities were trying to stop a 17-year-old driver who refused to stop after another deputy tried to initiate a traffic stop. The pursuit eventually ended when the vehicle crashed into a New Orleans Police Department’s vehicle on the Southshore. The 17-year-old faces numerous charges including attempted first-degree murder. Sergeant Candies leaves behind a wife and two children. He was the 2023 St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputy of the year.

The plaintiffs say the map violates the Equal Protection Clause, which says you cannot use race as the primary factor on how the boundaries are drawn. Shreveport Senator Alan Seabaugh agrees with the plaintiffs…

But civil rights groups say the Voting Rights Act requires two majority Black districts in Louisiana, because roughly a third of the state’s voting population is Black.

If you need to renew your driver’s license, wait a little bit before doing so, even if it’s about to expire. Due to computer outage issues at the Office of Motor Vehicles, Governor Landry has declared a state of emergency. OMV Commissioner Dan Casey says late fees for renewals are currently put on hold.

In Louisiana, a Class C driver’s license is your typical non-commercial driver’s license. Casey says the goal is not to overload the computer system so that other people who need timely OMV services can get them with no trouble.

The LSU Tigers won their 17th straight last night and improved to 4-0 in the SEC with a dominating eight to two win over Texas. Kade Anderson pitched like an ace as he struck out eight in six innings and held the Longhorns to two runs. Luis Hernandez homered and drove in three runs and Jared Jones also knocked in two runs. LSU goes for the series victory tonight at 6 PM.

 

Louisiana Tech edged Sam Houston six to five, as Sebastian Mexico had three hits and drove in three runs. Owen Galt drove in four runs, and the Ragin Cajuns defeated South Alabama seven to one. Andrew Hermann allowed one run in five innings for the save. 19th-ranked Southern Miss defeated ULM eight to five.

 

Southeastern Louisiana blanked McNeese six to nothing for its seventh straight win. Northwestern State won one to nothing over UNO, Nicholls knocked off UIW seven to one, and Grambling was a 12 to 7 winner over Texas Southern.

The Saints have brought back receiver Brandin Cooks on a two-year 13-million-dollar contract. New Orleans drafted Cooks in the first round in 2014 and he played his first three seasons in the Big Easy. Cooks was in Dallas the last two years and is coming off a career-low season, where he caught 26 passes for 259 yards and three touchdowns.

Former Saints quarterback Jameis Winston has signed a two-year deal with the New York Giants. New York is still expected to take a quarterback with the third overall pick.

McNeese will look to advance to the Sweet 16 in the men’s basketball tournament when they play Purdue at 11:10 AM today. Coach Will Wade says they’ll need to make their three-pointers…

Tonight the LSU women’s basketball will host San Diego State at 9:15 in a first round NCAA Tournament game.

The second ranked LSU baseball team has won 16 in a row, but they’ll face its biggest test of the season this weekend as they begin a three-game series tonight against eighth ranked Texas. The Tigers enter with a strength of schedule ranked 254th. They’ve only played two teams with a winning record. Texas is 17-and-2 and big crowds are expected in Austin. LSU second baseman Daniel Dickinson can’t wait…

First pitch tonight is at 7 PM.

The Saints are bringing back wide receiver Brandin Cooks as they’ve signed their first round pick in 2014 to a two-year contract. The 31-year-old has 710 career catches and 60 touchdowns.

 

The McNeese Cowboys will look to make history again on Saturday as they will try to advance to the Sweet 16. The Pokes won their first NCAA Tournament game in program history on Thursday with an upset win over Clemson. Coach Will Wade says Thursday’s win was life altering…

The LSU Lady Tigers will host San Diego State tomorrow night in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. Flau’Jae Johnson and Aneesah Morrow are healthy.

Southern women’s basketball team plays top-seeded UCLA tonight.

And the LSU-A men’s basketball team is in the NAIA National Championship Round of 16 and plays Bethel Indiana in Kansas City tonight.
