The Saints hit the practice field in Metairie this morning on this hot summer day. Right tackle Ryan Ramcyzk left the practice field midway through the workout with trainers. No word on a potential injury. Cornerback Marshon Lattimore is in a no-contact jersey for the second day in a row.

The Saints will travel to Los Angeles on Wednesday for two joint practices with the Chargers on Thursday and Friday. New Orleans will face the Chargers in a preseason game on Sunday.

And former University High golfer Patrick Reed won the Northern Trust Tournament in Jersey City, New Jersey. It’s his first victory since the 2018 Masters.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s office says a homeowner in Zachary shot a naked man who tried to gain entry into his home early Sunday morning. The homeowner was alerted by his dog barking on the back porch. Authorities say the alleged intruder is in critical but stable condition. No charges have been filed.

A Monroe woman faces charges after she allegedly shot at a mosquito abatement aircraft that she thought was a drone flying over her home. Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s spokesman Glenn Springfield says you can’t just shoot at a drone, even if it’s on your property. He adds there’s still some debate about who owns the airspace around your home…

There were some notable absences at LSU practice yesterday. For the second straight day, linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson, cornerback Kristian Fulton and offense lineman Kardell Thomas were missing. All-American safety Grant Delpit was also not at practice. Coach Ed Orgeron is scheduled to address the media tonight.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees didn’t practice yesterday. Just a day off for the veteran after the team practiced Sunday night at Tulane’s Yulman Stadium. That meant more reps for Teddy Bridgewater with the first team. Bridegewater connected with new tight end Jared Cook on a long touchdown pass. The Saints as a team are off today. They’ll return to practice on Wednesday and then Friday it’s the first preseason game against the Vikings in the Mercedes Benz Superdome.

Former LSU pitcher Kevin Gausman has a new team after he was waived by the Braves. The Cincinnati Red claimed the right-hander off waivers on Monday. Gausman has had a tough season, he’s 3-and-7 with a 6.19 ERA. Gausman also spent time on the injured list with an injured foot.

In major league baseball last night, Texas blanked Cleveland 1-0 as Mike Minor threw seven shutout innings. The Rangers have won five in a row. The Yankees won their sixth straight, beating Baltimore 9-6 by scoring three in the 8th. The Houston Astros begin a two game series tonight against Colorado in Minute Maid Park.

A teenager riding in the back of an SUV in Terrebonne Parish is dead after a fatal crash and the vehicle’s adult driver has been charged with her second DWI. State Trooper Jesse LaGrange says 35-year-old Reva Hood of Houma drove her GMC Yukon ran off the road, directly into a tree…

Hood was also been charged with Obstruction, Careless Operation, and Interfering with an Officer.

The victim, 16-year-old Makayla Gregoire of Houma, was unrestrained while riding in the back seat. LaGrange says riding in the back can give passengers a false sense of security.

The accident occurred on LA 57 near Canebrake Avenue north of Dulac.

Authorities say Hood blew a .126 blood-alcohol level on the scene, above the .08 legal limit. LaGrange says that’s unacceptable, and a devastating loss for the community that could have been avoided.

Ridesharing was legalized for statewide operation in the last Legislative session.

A report accuses former Baton Rouge cop Blane Salamoni, who fatally shot Alton Sterling in 2016, of preventing EMS from saving a shooting victim In 2014.  The report was released by Sterling family attorneys and is a complaint filed by an EMS worker who says Salamoni delayed the team, telling them the victim had died, while he was reportedly still writhing on the ground.

That’s Attorney Chris Stewart, who is representing the family in a civil case against the city of Baton Rouge.

Stewart says after misleading EMS about the patient’s status, Salamoni became hostile to the responding paramedic…

The attorney adds it’s just one of several disturbing incidents that should have resulted in Salamoni’s earlier termination.

Salamoni was reportedly not disciplined for his actions in 2014. Stewart says it’s an indictment against those who still support the former officer.

If the family’s civil suit against the city is not settled the case will go to trial in 2020.
