Hunger in Louisiana is on the rise and has been for a couple of years. That’s according to a recent USDA study. Hunger Free America CEO, Joel Berg says the number of children without enough food surged to 20 percent in Louisiana compared to 16 percent nationwide between 2020 and October 2022.

More than 727 thousand Louisianans struggle with hunger. Hunger Free America CEO, Joel Berg says the participation rates of federally funded programs like SNAP and WIC have also decreased.
