There is more promising news today regarding a potential COVID-19 vaccine. Moderna says early data shows its vaccine is nearly 95-percent effective. Governor John Bel Edwards says even with one or more vaccines possibly available by the end of next month residents need to continue to follow proven mitigation measures. He says if not, Louisiana could experience capacity issues at their hospitals….

Former Governor Edwin Edwards is back home after being admitted to the hospital Friday due to breathing difficulties.  His Biographer Leo Honeycutt says doctors ended up diagnosing Edwards with a common sickness.

A USA Today article highlights several cases of LSU mishandling sexual misconduct complaints against students. The report says LSU athletic officials received complaints about former running back Derrius Guice for over a year and at least seven LSU officials had direct knowledge former wide receiver Drake Davis was physically abusing his girlfriend. LSU AD Scott Woodward took over in the spring of 2019. USA Today and LSU beat reporter, Glen Guilbeau says Woodward needs to make sure future claims are properly investigated…

Today is the one-year anniversary of Gov John Bel Edwards re-election to a second term.  The year has posed numerous challenges for the governor but political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says Edwards’s military training and ability to learn from past governors’ mistakes allows him to present himself on camera well and reassure Louisianans during the pandemic and record-breaking hurricane season.

Former Governor Edwin Edwards is back home after being admitted to the hospital on Friday due to breathing difficulties. Biographer Leo Honeycutt while the Coronavirus pandemic is spreading rapidly, Honeycutt explained that Edwards’ hospital stay was not related to Covid-19.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees suffered a rib contusion in the first half of Sunday’s game against the 49ers. The 41-year-old QB will undergo an MRI today to look for possible cartilage damage. How long Brees could be out remains to be seen but most likely he’s out for Sunday’s game against Atlanta. Coach Sean Payton is expected to turn to Jamies Winston again. The former Tampa Bay QB played the majority second half of Sunday’s 27 to 13 win over San Francisco.

Former Governor Edwin Edwards is back home after he went to the hospital on Friday due to a sudden illness. The former four-term governor was released on Sunday.  Biographer Leo Honeycutt says that a common illness is what caused Edwards to be sent to the hospital.

Civil rights activists and the ACLU demand an independent investigation into the death of a 15-year-old Black teen who was found dead in an Iberia Parish sugar cane field. An Iberia Parish Coroner’s report concluded that Quawan “Bobby” Charles drowned and that damage to his face was caused by wildlife, but ACLU of Louisiana head Alanah Odoms believes it may have been a hate crime.

An article in the journal Nature claims hurricanes are keeping their staying power longer once they make landfall, thus more inland destruction. State Climatologist Barry Keim says the study showed the average length of time it took a storm to weaken to two-thirds of its landfall strength in the 1960s was about 17-hours.

The Saints beat the 49ers 27-13 but lost quarterback Drew Brees to a rib injury after a big hit in the first half. Brees says he may have injured more than one rib. He wasn’t the only starter who got hurt on Sunday. Tre’Quan Smith and Josh Hill both left the game with a concussion. Coach Sean Payton says his team was able to adapt to changes…

A study published in the journal Nature says climate change is causing hurricanes to retain their strength longer. Brooke Thorington has more.

Governor Edwards says he’s concerned about the recent spike in COVID cases and indicated that if it were to continue the state may have to move back to Phase Two or more.
Edwards says unlike the first wave of cases in the spring if we were to begin running out of hospital capacity we couldn’t just send patients out of state right now.

As the LSU football team deals with COVID. Tigers Athletic Director Woodward says there is only a small number of players who have tested positive, but many more are in quarantine. He says none of the players who have tested positive, have experienced a serious illness.

LSU was scheduled to play Alabama today, Woodward is hopeful it can be rescheduled for December.

The family of a teenager who was found dead in Iberia Parish after being reported missing under mysterious circumstances is calling for an independent investigation into what happened. Matt Doyle has the story.

Ryan Thompson, the attorney for LSU wide receiver Koy Moore says Baton Rouge Police bodycam video matches his client’s accusations of police harassment. A statement from the Baton Rouge Police Union however says the video will vindicate the officers and the only rights that have been violated are the officers’ due process.

COVID numbers released the state Friday were startling, 35-hundred, the highest the state has seen since the start of the pandemic.  News of a 90-percent effectiveness rate on a vaccine was released earlier this week, but the vaccine has yet to be approved and distributed. Governor John Bel Edwards says it will be sometime before the vaccine can make a difference.

The LSU Tigers were scheduled to host Alabama today, however, Tigers are sidelined due to COVID. Athletic Director Scott Woodward says LSU could possibly move the Ole Miss game to December 19th to play Alabama on December 5th.

Instead of hosting number one ranked Alabama, Tiger Stadium will be empty today as a COVID-19 outbreak has sidelined the team. Jeff Palermo has the story
