The department of health reports more patients are hospitalized with COVID-19 today and nearly 26-hundred new cases have been added to the statewide case total. Currently, 874 patients are in hospitals across the state and vent usage has increased to 92. 17 additional fatalities have also been reported today. On Friday the daily total number was 35-hundred new cases the highest daily total since March.

U-S Representative Cedric Richmond announced today he will resign from his seat before January 20th to become a senior adviser to President-Elect Joe Biden. Richmond says he’ll have an office in the West Wing and he says he’ll fight to bring much-needed federal resources to Louisiana.

Pinsonat says being a powerful congressman is one thing but a position in the White House has more pull when it comes to receiving federal funding.

The Independence Stadium matchup between LA tech and ULM that was set back in August will not be played this weekend due to ongoing COVI D related issues with the Warhawk football program. Tech was not able to play Rice last weekend due to COVID but anticipated playing this weekend.

There is more promising news today regarding a potential COVID-19 vaccine. Moderna says early data shows its vaccine is nearly 95-percent effective. This comes on the heels of Pfizer saying that its vaccine is showing signs of being 90-percent effective. Governor John Bel Edwards says one or more vaccine could be available by the end of next month…

The school has acknowledged disciplining two of the nine athletes, Drake Davis and Peter Parrish. And the university says it does not tolerate sexual assault or any form of abuse. But Guilbeau says their actions do not follow those words
