Some school system leaders say the state’s policy of 14-day quarantines for students who had “close contact” with someone who tested positive for COVID goes too far. EvenBossier City Representative Raymond Crews says the over-zealous policy is detrimental to a student’s long-term education and social health.

Car dealers in Louisiana were bracing for a rough year, however, according to President of the Louisiana Automobile Dealers Association Will Green, it was not as bad as anticipated. Green says dealers adjusting to serve customers in the pandemic made a difference, like offering more incentives and low-interest rates along with improving the digital retail experience of automobiles.

Winnfield Representative Jack McFarland will introduce legislation in next year’s session to raise money to fix state roads and bridges via a gas tax increase. McFarlands’ bill would raise the gas tax ten cents in initially, and two cents per year until 2033, ultimately raising about 300 million dollars. McFarland says he needs the public’s trust.

The state has surpassed one-thousand coronavirus patients in the hospital. It’s the first time in three months that Louisiana hospitals have had this large of a coronavirus patient count. There were nearly one-thousand new coronavirus cases today and 24 more deaths.

The American Farm Bureau Federation says based on its survey the cost of a home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner is about two dollars cheaper this year. Taylor Sharp spoke with Louisiana Farm Bureau Association spokesperson Avery Davidson

The 2019 Heisman Quarterback tweeted Thanks for all the love. Can’t get rid of me that easy. See ya next year. Burrow was 22 of 34 for 203 yards and a touchdown before the season-ending injury.

Louisiana’s Click It or Ticket campaign is underway as the holiday season begins this week. Louisiana Highway Safety Commission spokesperson Mark Lambert says wearing a seat belt can save you money and save your life.

LSU grad and Baker native, Linda Thomas-Greenfield is expected to be named as President-elect Joe Biden’s appointee as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Thomas-Greenfield has had a 35-year career in the United States Foreign Service.

Pfizer applied for emergency use of their vaccine with the FDA today. Dr. John Vanchiere at LSU Health Shreveport is principal investigator on the Pfizer Vaccine clinical trial, he says 44-thousand participated worldwide, including 231 people from the Shreveport Bossier area. He says any side effects from the injection means your body is responding to the vaccine building an immune response.

Early voting began today for the December 5th run-offs. East Baton Rouge is selecting a new mayor-president, while Orleans’ voters have to choose a new district attorney. The Saints announced Friday they have placed QB Drew Brees on injured reserve. Brees had previously appeared on the team’s injury report during the week, but now that he’s on the injured reserve he will miss a minimum of three weeks.  Brees fractured ribs in the last two games he played along with a collapsed lung.

Taysom Hill is expected to start at quarterback for the Saints this Sunday when they take on the Atlanta Falcons.  Color Analyst for the New Orleans Saints Radio Network Deuce McAllister says Hill was named the starter due to the Saints’ gameplan and he believes that with Hill under center, the Saints will use a lot more rollout passes.

Infectious disease specialist Dr. John Vanchiere at LSU Health Shreveport is also a principal investigator on the Pfizer Vaccine trial says the proposed protocol for vaccine distribution in Louisiana is healthcare workers that treat COVID patients, then older adults that live in congregant setting such as nursing homes.

The state health department reports 4,814 COVID-19 cases today in Louisiana, however about 25-hundred of those reported cases are from a backlog due to a processing error. Half of the backlog is from cases on Halloween.  A more accurate number for today’s total is still high with 2,276 cases.

State officials say we are seeing a third surge in new cases of the coronavirus, but the governor is NOT planning to issue a new stay at home order…

Today the first coronavirus vaccine to apply for emergency approval from the FDA is Pfizer’s effort to fight the pandemic. Infectious disease specialist Dr. John Vanchiere at LSU Health Shreveport is also a principal investigator on the Pfizer Vaccine trial, and he says Pfizer’s effectiveness rate of 95-percent is remarkable.
