The field of contenders for the U.S. Senate seat held by Republican John Kennedy is expected to get a little more crowded in the near future.  LA Politics publisher Jeremy Alford says there’s talk that Democrat Gary Chambers could announce his intentions soon and that he’s not an unknown in political circles.

Cut 10 (06)  “…earlier this year.”

Political newcomer and commercial pilot, Luke Mixon of Baton Rouge, announced last week his decision to run against Kennedy next year.

While Mixon says he has political operatives working with him on his campaign, Alford says Chambers has some notable backing too should he decide to seek Kennedy’s Capitol Hill seat.

Alford doubts any big-name Republicans will announce a bid to unseat Kennedy next year.

Cut 12 (11) “…circles in DC.”

And Alford says Kennedy will undoubtedly have a sizeable war chest for his re-election bid, including eight million dollars in cash already on hand.
