Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson’s dirty laundry is being aired to fans as a day after he announces he’s decided to leave the franchises to his wife instead of his kids, the former heirs sue claiming it was a decision made out of incompetence. Dr. Michelle Moore is a clinical psychologist at the LSU Health Sciences Center. She says a family battle like this is happens all the time…:

The 87-year-old Benson responded to the lawsuit saying the allegations that he’s incapacitated are false and he intends to fight them every step of the way.

A Houma man, whose two young children died in a house fire last March, has been sentenced to two years in prison. 22-year-old Romell Welsh Sr. accepted the sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of negligent homicide in the deaths of a 2 year old and 1 year old.

Multiple sources have reported that employees of General Electric’s plant in Pineville have been told that the facility is closing with the manufacturing jobs transferring to Jacksonville, Florida. The valve plant employs about 300 people. Pineville Mayor Clarence Fields says they haven’t gotten any official report from GE…:

Saints owner Tom Benson has responded to the lawsuit filed by his family yesterday after the former heirs learned they were being cut out of the sports franchises. The richest man in Louisiana says he’s extremely disappointed in the false allegations that his mental health is so poor he is unable to make decisions about his affairs on his own. He added he will vigorously defend his action to leave the teams to his wife.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has issued several citations on a group of people for allegedly hunting ducks illegally over a sewer plant in Acadia Parish. Adam Einck says they got the tip that these Louisiana residents were possibly committing the violations…:

Saints and Pelicans Owner Tom Benson has released a statement expressing his disappointment over the lawsuit filed by his daughter and two grandchildren claiming he’s mentally unfit to change a succession plan that puts Benson’s wife, Gayle, in control of both professional franchises once he dies. As far as that lawsuit goes claiming Beson is incapacitated, Legal analyst Tim Meche says the plantiffs will have to prove Benson is not capable of making decisions on his own…

The Pelicans Anthony Davis has been named a starter in the NBA All-Star game. First one to do that from New Orleans since Chris Paul did it in 2011. The Pels are at Minnesota tonight.

In college basketball…Louisiana Tech lost its first Conference USA Game of the season on Saturday as the Bulldogs lost to North Texas 73-66. Tech trailed at halftime by 21 points. U-L-M’s six-game winning streak was snapped last night as they fell to Texas-Arlington 61-57. And the Ragin Cajuns ended a three-game losing streak with a 96-59 victory over Arkansas State.

A Caddo Parish Grand Jury has handed down a first-degree murder indictment to a Shreveport man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend last month. Authorities say 27-year-old Kelvin Brown II allegedly stabbed 33-year-old Alicia West to death on December 6th. Brown reportedly harassed and stalked the victim several times prior to the homicide.

Relatives of Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson file a lawsuit that attempts to block a re-written succession plan that puts Benson’s wife, Gayle, in control of both professional sports franchises. Benson’s daughter, Renee, and her two children, alleged that Gayle Benson took advantage of the 87-year-old’s failing physical and mental health, by getting him to change the succession plan.
